overpriced, mediocre bbq at best 2/3/2011

Very overpriced. The bbq itself is mediocre, but average for Georgetown. The brisket is better at Smoky Mo's, although that really isnt great either (but Smoky Mo's is easily the best in Georgetown). If you want decent bbq, drive down 35 a ways and try your luck at Rudy's, as its far superior to Dukes. more

Great BBQ !!!! 6/23/2009

You don't leave smelling like BBQ.\r \r I eat at Dukes as often as I can !!!\r \r The brisket, sauce, sausage, and beans are excellent. They even have free soft serve ice cream !!!\r \r Its right off of the highway too. They have a big back porch and other covered out door seating. Pros: Great Briskett, BBQ Sauce, Sausage, Beans, Free ice cream Cons: Sometimes its just too busy, hard to find a seat. more

Okay Bar-B-Q 10/3/2008

My husband and I ate here once a few months ago. As far as Bar-B-Q goes, it was okay. We've had better other places. The portion sizes were plenty. I enjoyed the fountain Dr. Pepper. They have soft-serve ice cream, which is available to all dine-in customers. That was first for us at a Bar-B-Q joint and it was great. Considering the bar-b-q quality, we probably will not go back. Pros: Ice cream Cons: Bar-B-Q taste more

poor catering service, ok food 5/29/2008

I used Duke's for a pick-up catering service recently. The original order was for 30 people but Duke's filled the order for 50. A receipt was not given at pick-up so the error was not noted until I had a ton of food left over and I noticed an extra $173 on my credit card charge. Unfortunately, most of the food ended up in the trash. The error cost me quite a bit of extra money. I brought it to Duke's attention and the agreed to only give me 1/2 the difference back. They argued that I should have taken back the extra food. For those who have had a party for 30+ people, you know noticing the difference in food for 30 versus 50 is a challenge AND stopping and packing up the food and taking it 20 minutes up the road while your party waits is inconceivable. They never even gave me back the 1/2 the difference they agreed too. I do have a receipt showing their intention to credit that, but they never did. The food was ok, but not worth the possibility of being grossly overcharged when they fill the order incorrectly. They even acknowledged their error repeatedly, but would not give me back a full refund for the extra 20 people. Would definately NOT recommend. They may make it a practice to accidently over fill the order and charge you for their error. Pros: food ok Cons: poor service/catering more

Average 4/4/2008

Went once. Staff could be more helpful and friendly with explaining the ordering process. Very dry meat the day we went. Had some that was catered recently and it was a little better. Pros: Nice location Cons: Average food more

Bad Catering experience, but good food 2/19/2008

We used Duke's catering for a party. I can say the food was good. Coordinating with Duke's was very a bad experience. They were $4 more a plate than a favorite Austin BBQ joint. So pricing was very high in comparison. I still used them because the party was located in Georgetown. They would not leave the excess food and said it was a violation of health code laws. This is not true because other caters leave food. You pay for a certain number of guests and the food for that number of guests should be yours. There is no health reason that it should not be. I think/hope the law prohibits Duke's from taking it back to the restaurant and reselling it after it has travel by auto round trip, been out on a table without a sneeze guard. They also added an optional 12% gratuity on my credit card/invoice without permission or even mentioning it to me in all the communications. I have had 12 years of experience in restaurants, catered parties for the president and faculty at South Western University and have many events catered in my home over the years. Duke's has been my biggest disappointment. Pros: Food was good Cons: lack of ethics more

Duke's Smokehouse is a fun and relaxing place to eat great barbeque! The people are friendly and make you feel right at home. The food is not overly greasy and the flavor is cooked to perfection every time. Its worth the drive! Pros: Lots of parking and space both in and out of the smokehouse Cons: N/A more
