I HEART this place. It's relaible. Food is always good. It's low key and the happy hour works well for me. Pros: LOCATION & FOOD & HAPPY HOUR

Great bar, great food and great value 3/10/2007

If you are looking for incredible ocean views and good food, Duke's is the place to go. The service is good to. The food varies from seafood to chicken dishes and burgers for the little ones. They have some great drinks and the views in the restuarant and the barefoot bar cannot be beat. If you are looking to impress some of your out of town guests, this is the place to go. You can dig your feet into the sand at the barefoot bar, where waves crash right on the rocks in front of you. On Sundays they have a brunch that includes everything under the sun, and everything at the restaurant is reasonably priced. I have yet to hear a complaint from anyone I know who has gone here and everyone I know recommends this restaurant. You can't go wrong with Duke's. Pros: great views, great value Cons: can get busy on weekends more

Best waterfront beach bar 2/19/2007

Sit on a Malibu beach with the waves crashing up to you & your loved one watching the sun drop behind the horizon, turning the sky incandescent. Now erect a glass wall to protect you both from the wind & spray, with gas heaters to keep you warm. Now add cocktail service and great happy hour food and dig your toes into the sand. This is the way we spend an evening when in LA. One of our favorite spots ever, and worth driving by the nearer, busier, trendier Gl*dstones on PCH. Just go. Pros: Sunsets Cons: Too far from Houston more

Good seafood, GREAT location 11/15/2006

It was so cool to sit out and watch the waves crashing just outside. It was very peaceful here when we came early one afternoon, between rush times. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and my coconut shrimp were very tasty and not too greasy. My date's tuna melt was good but a bit greasy. They have a brunch that seems worthwhile and I would return for that. The views can't be beat! more

Why is this place rated so low when almost all of the reviews are positive? 11/5/2006

I've been to the restaurant more often than the bar - both are great. The chowder and every seafood dish is amazing. Their brunch is a little pricey but very high quality for buffet food. I brought my parents here just before they took a trip to Hawaii and they said the meal at Duke's was better than the ""authentic"" meals they had in Hawaii! This is the only restaurant, out of hundreds I've brought them to in LA and NY, that they've requested we go back to. So it's definitely a good place to bring parents - for the fun atmosphere, the incredible ocean view, and the creative seafood dishes! more

Great food, good service, great ocean views! 9/8/2006

This is one of the few great restaurants left along PCH. The food is great, service is friendly and the ocean views are spectacular! Pros: Ambience Cons: Parking more

Just go here! 9/5/2006

This place is fantastically delicious! A great place to take your out of town guests, which will leave them thinking that most of your dining experiences take place on the water, in the sun, with an umbrella drink. The nachos are huge and the barbecue burger is exceptional. If you leave hungry, then its your own fault. more

Don't go very often but worth the trip every time 7/12/2006

Duke's patio is one of the great places to relax in LA. Kick off your shoes, scrunch your toes in the sand and sip drinks or have something to eat. The ocean waves crash right on the other side of the glass wall surrounding the outdoor area. Time just seems to slow down at Duke's, especially around sunset. The service is average, the food is usually above average. Duke's is a place I love to take out of town guests. more

Wonderful! 6/18/2006

From the minute I walked in, Dukes was amazing! We were seated promptly and our server was polite and knowledgable. The menu is small, and everything is about $20, which was nice because you could have what you wanted, but not pay an arm and a leg for it. Now, I didn't find a think on the menu I wanted, but thats because I don't eat fish and didn't feel like a steak. So i asked if I could eat off the kids menu. I ordered a burger. Not only was it delicious, but I had to ask the server if it was the child sized burger, to which he responded yes! I mean, it was large, juicy and just tasty. The rest of the table was highly satisfied with their high quality, aesthetically pleasing meals. It was a TEN! Pros: Food, Decor, Service Cons: Nothing! more

Cold fries, chewy fish and longboards 5/10/2006

After camping in Big Sur, we stopped at Duke's for some food. We were greeted by a Valet who told me to park the car myself. Nobody greeted us inside, so we had to wander around to find a place to sit. When our food arrived, the fries were cold and the fish was so chewy, like it had been cooked hours earlier and sat under a heat lamp. $50 for this???? My advice would be to drive right on by to avoid a deeply forgettable evening. Cons: cold food, poor service, bad decor more

Must go to Duke's - We loved it! 1/27/2006

Amazing view, excellent food, crab legs were delicious, mai tai is the best in town! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Go there for happy hour in the barefoot bar or a fantastic dinner in their dining room. Their Sunday brunch is great too! Duke's is a must see! Pros: Sunday Brunch, Great value, Beautiful View more

Great Food, Great Service, Great times 1/26/2006

I started coming here a few years ago, and now I am hooked. The food is always great. You gotta love the Mai Tais. What really got me hooked, was the service and the staff. Every time I go there I am greeted by all of the staff around including the manager. It's a wonderful experience... I recommend it to all. Pros: Great staff, Great food, beautiful view more

A pleaure 8/30/2003

Duke's was a pleasure to dine at. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was so funny and got us everything we needed before we even knew we needed it. The food was good. The Ahi Tuna was slightly overcooked-- not quite rare. But the atmosphere was what we had gone there for and it exceeded our expectatins. The meal was also very reasonably priced. The view was gorgeous. If you want a restaurant with decent food and for a great time, you won't be dissapointed. Pros: great view, wonderful service, good prices more

just like hawaii 8/6/2003

Its just like the hawaii location. If you're longing for that Hawaii feeling, perfect mai tai etc., then check out dukes. A bit of a pretty crowd, typical, but can be overlooked. Shame about the no shoes no entry policy. Pros: View, Drinks, Food Cons: Crowded, Barefoot bar??? more

Excellent view! 2/26/2003

I would recommend thid restraunt to anybody and everybody. During the day it can be a nice relaxing lunch with a great view of the coast line and night can be a romantic dinner with still the great view of the city lights on the coast.Service was great. Can get crowded at certain times but, the wait was well worth it. Pros: Good Prices For View, Excellent Service, Cant wait to go again more

delicious 7/23/2002

Our dining experience was phenominal...food fantastic and service impeccable. A really great casual elegance with reasonably priced food. Their fish and seafood selection was great and my husband had the teriyaki sirloin which was delicious. Fresh Hawaiian fish prepared so uniquely...a definate must try! If not for the food, at least for the view and the whole ambieance. more

If Duke's were any closer to the Pacific, it would cease being a beach bar and start being, well, very wet. When the tide is in, waves crash just a few feet away from the bar....
