fish n chips 3/19/2010

Friendly bartender and staff, good selection of beer, nice patio area, and really good fish n chips. This is a great spot to just relax outside during the weekend or even after work when the weather is nice. more

crappy service 8/21/2009

have been there a few times and usually the service is great, but last time i went there the lady serving us was a total a-hole. She must have been having home issues because that is not how to treat customers. She knew she wasnt getting any kind of a tip and chose to included into the bill herself. Although most of the time this is a good place to go running into this kind of service once in a while ruins the whole experience more

Fuzzy wall paper! 11/1/2008

I've never been to the Duke for food. The bar is ok, really small but they have a good selection. They also have a great patio area to sit with friends. The only thing that I really remember about the place is that it has fuzzy wall paper. more

True Pub 6/4/2008

The Duke of Edinburgh is a family favorite. We especially like their fish and chips. My dad's been on a "quest" to find the best fish and chips in the Bay Area, and he thinks the Duke's are the best (that he's found, anyway). The atmosphere is very European pub-like: old booths, red velvet, and greasy (but good) smells. Would recommend for those looking for a true pub experience. more

Best Place Ever 12/19/2007

This is the best kept secret Cupertino has to offer. The staff are very down to earth. Great drinks, Great people. That Bartender is very cool. If you are an a-hole, he will treat you as such. The food is good too. A little over priced but they serve it late. This is my kind of place. more

Avoid this place! 9/24/2006

If you want to over pay for drinks and be insulted by the bartender then go to this place. I waited 30 mins for a drink and it was not what I ordered, the bartender who I later found out his name was Steve was very rude. They have no clue of the concept of service! If I had experienced this type of service only once or twice I would not be here writing this review however I feel no patron should have to waste their time by going to this pub! SAVE YOURSELF AND GO TO ANOTHER BAR! more

The Duke RULES!!! 7/21/2003

The Duke is a very traditional pub with a great American jukebox! From the red velvet couches to the solid selection of beers to the Shepherd's Pie, I always feel like I am back in England. Always excellent service by fun-loving wenches (kidding, girls) and a group of locals only rivaled by Norm and Cliff. Don't forget to take a peek at the "grout" comments in the men's head and drop a few bucks into the jukebox. Always a favorite on holiday eve's as well. more

Owner Message

  • The Duke of Edinburgh pub and restaurant was the dream of three Englishmen and one American who wished to build a pub and restaurant in California with the same atmosphere as the pubs in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In order to insure that the setting was authentic, a pub designer from England was brought to California to help with the design. After approval by Vallco and the City of Cupertino, the plans were sent to England where the complete interior of the pub was built. Everything inside - the bar, the ceiling, the carpet, the wallpaper, the lamps, EVERYTHING, was made in England. When completed, the pub interior was packed in containers and shipped to California. After arrival, it was only a few weeks before the Duke was open for business. With th business. With the large population of British and Irish expatriates in the Bay Area, it didn't take long for the word to get around that there was an authentic pub in town. Since opening on Halloween 1983, the Duke has become th e local pub for both expatriates and Californians alike. The atmosphere at the Duke is the same as you would find in any pub in the British Isles, full of friendly patrons who come in to talk, play darts, have a pint or two, and eat a meal. With the help of additional partners, we think we've accomplished our goal of building an authentic pub in California. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
