Fantastic Acting Resource 5/28/2006

This is an incredible resource for theatre professionals. Aside from a huge selection of plays and film scripts, the Drama Bookshop also offers Henderson's mailing labels for self promotion, and a huge number of accent books and tapes, in addition to resources on the business and a good selection of acting-related periodicals. Actors should make this place a regular stop. more

I love drama 3/27/2006

You won't find any A list starlets cruising the aisles but you will find a bunch of wannabe thespians practicing lines from everything from Shakespeare to a Streetcar Named Desire. Excellent bookstore that's loaded with screenplays, regular plays, books on acting and anything to do with the acting world. Drama has been around for over eighty years and its still a favorite hot spot for the acting class. Located in the heart of the theater district the staff is friendly and the prices are good. more

More than just plays 3/19/2006

The Drama Book Shop has a great inventory for the actor, director, stage manager and/or designer. They offer plays, screenplays, manuals, agents labels - just about everything a budding (or established for that matter) stage/film professional could ask for in a book shop. There is also a performance space in the basement of the building (so don't be shocked when you see fliers advertising a show at this location). They are more than willing to order a title for you. more

I love drama 12/30/2005

Drama Books has some great items about movies which makes their inventory different. Amazing inventory of scripts, books, screenplays, magazines, and videos that are all related to the movies/theaters at your fingertips. The service is very good and the staff members have always been able to answer any questions I have. They often have book signings and readings as well. more

Actor's studio 10/30/2005

You won't find Tom Cruise or Cameron Diaz cruising the aisles of this book store but you will find a whole lot of working, non working and everything in between actors reading screenplays, practicing lines or just hanging around waiting to be discovered as the next big thing. Drama has very plays, screenplays and anything to do with acting. The staff is very informative and will go out of their way to help you find what you need. more

If you can't see it, read it 9/7/2005

Many struggling New York actors already know about this gem, while more and more tourists and other theater-goers are becoming aware of it. The knowledgeable staff consists mostly amazing. This specialized store is primarily for budding theatrical types. It's so nice to have a place that stocks almost every play imaginable. Tremendous Performing Arts Selection 7/9/2005

These guys and Applause are the two stores to check out when you are looking for books about Broadway and Off - Broadway Theater. I think Applause probably has a better selection of plays but Drama Books has some other items about movies which makes their inventory different. The service is very good and the staff members have always been able to answer my questions no problem. They moved not to long ago and I like the new space and layout better. more
