Sick or Depressed 10/27/2009

I am the type of person who does not get sick often. I had been going to Kearns-Stanley for two years for routine check-ups and everything was going well. She performed all the basic functions that a doctor should and seemed nice enough so I continued my yearly visits. Then one day, I did get sick. I had a slight fever, horrible cold and I felt very tired. I went to Kearns-Stanley and she prescribed an over the counter cold medicine. I did has she instructed and although my cold went away I was still very fatigued and always tired. I went back this time and on my mother's advice (she is a nurse) to demanded a blood panel. She told me that everything was ok and perhaps I was just over "stressed". I continued to deal with my illness for another two weeks until I couldn't take it anymore. I went to visit Kearns-Stanley a third time and she had the nerve to tell me that perhaps I was "depressed" and that was why I was having all these symptoms!! It was a joke. In the end I demanded another blood panel and asked her to check on various illnesses on my mom's recommendation and my own research. It turned out that I had mono (Mononucleosis) and had had the illness for over two months!!! Dr. Keans-Stanley told me that it is very rare for a 28 year-old to get the illness so she didn't think to check. I would overlook the first appointment but after three visits it ended up that I had to tell her what to look for. It was the worst experience. I ended up spending the next few months on immune boosting treatments and remedies.....and of course I haven’t been back. more

Someone you can count on... 1/6/2009

Dr. Margaret has been my physician for 2 years already. I feel very comfortable under her care. She is a very attentive listener, warmth, very nice, talented, and trustworthy. I live in Ledgewood, NJ, but in spite of the big distance, I do want to keep having her as my doctor. She is more than a doctor. She is a friend. I like her very much. She is a wonderful physician. Dr. Kearns-Stanley asks you about your medical history and does a perfunctory physical, listening to your chest and taking your blood pressure. The doctor is okay but nothing to rave about. They have a tech who can draw labs in the office unless you have a different insurance and then they use the Quest lab nearby. I didn't like the fact that they schedule you for another appointment to see the doctor just to discuss the lab work even when it's mostly normal. Also, they want the co-pay in cash not a personal check. This is a busy group practice and sometimes the specialists for say, GI are also here so it could be one-stop service. more
