Great Stay 9/18/2009

Had a great stay at the Doubltree a week ago. The Concierge - Mary R - was terrifice in helping us with directions, tours and history of Savannah. We had a great room - it looked like a suite, and had a huge, marble bathroom. Great location right on Bay street. \r \r Thanks, Mary, for all your help!! Pros: Nice big rooms, concierge Cons: Don't know when we're going back more

What you wouldn't expect- bad thing! 2/12/2009

On average, I stay at 3 hotels a week... upon arrive, the parking and front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean but very basic; the room was humid but we thought nothing of it since most hotels only use the fan when the room is unoccupied- we turned on the air- medium then went to bed. The room never cooled, we turned the air on high and it still never cooled and the humidity remained very high (about like it was outside). The TV was out of color and the shower curtain would not stay closed- or open to one side, the rod was bent and the curtain now hangs over the toilet. I felt these MIGHT be excusable until I asked about checking out early because we were unable to sleep due to the high humidity and warm temp in the room. The front desk apologized and questioned why I didn't have engineering come fix it last night (I assume she must have felt it wasn't that bad if I didn't complain sooner) I was told I would have to pay for the second night because of their 24 hour cancellation policy but she will waive that because of the issues, but I will still need to pay a early cancellation fee. I then informed her about the (this site will not let me use the work so I'll just say stomach contents) in the elevator then she explained it has been there all night. When I asked her to repeat that, she said ""well, it's been there for about two hours, we'll have house keeping clean it up when they arrive in about an hour."" I don't know about you but I can understand equipment failing but for someone to have an attitude like that- it's too gross for me to clean up but my guess can put up with it... that is not a hotel I care to stay at nor my customers or co-workers/management. Think about that next time you plan to book there. Pros: Staff at parking and location Cons: ""not my job"" attitude. Customers experiance does not come first more

Nice, But Needs Renovations 1/15/2009

I just came back from a romantic getaway in Savannah. The hotel appeared to be nice from the lobby, but the sleeping rooms could use some work. They offer poster beds. When we walked in and touched, the post, it fell off. We had to call maintenence 10 minutes after checking in! There were no towels in the room and the special amenities that I had requested at the time of my reservation were not in the room upon check in as promised. The front desk staff moved us to another room, which was much nicer. I would recommend staying at this property ONLY if you get a good room rate. (less than $100 per night) I am going to wait until they complete more renovations before staying there again. The concierge, Mary, was very nice. Terreze at the front desk was great, as well. Expensive valet parking. Pros: Large jacuzzi tub in suite, Breakfast Buffet, Excellent Staff Cons: Old Hotel, Sleeping rooms need renovations more

Friendly atmosphere 7/23/2006

We just got back from a long weekend in Savannah. The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel was beautiful inside. I would only suggest that you ask for your room not to be facing Bay street as the traffic will keep you up all night. Pros: location Cons: noisy if room is on the street more
