Editorial review from Citysearch 3/19/2014

Vet was over opinionated and rude. Trying to stare me down while giving me a burly handshake and saying she could understand if we didn't come back. She tore apart the trainer we used, because SHE didn't know of them. The vet tech that worked with us was really nice. She took a nice family photo of us with our dog, which we never did get emailed to us like they said they would. We had to wait for 45 minutes for the Vet to get to us, after the vet tech was done all she needed. This was just the initial visit to see if we would like the place. Not impressed with the grumpy old lady. Would have rather gone a date with Judge Judy.\r more

I had a fantastic experience at Dogs Only. This is a wonderful environment for dogs and people. I thought Dr Prescott and her staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I felt Dr Prescott took her time with Shelby and actually cared for her needs. more

I just moved into the area and have 5/30/2012

I just moved into the area and have been to other animal hospitals in the area. I was happy that I found Dogs Only. The staff and doctor are warm and cheerful. They seem like they truly care about their patients and clients. They gave me some advise on many different pet products. They did not carry the products so they were not just trying to sell you something. The lobby is not cluttered with a lot of products which is a plus. The hospital smelled clean and did not have an animal smell that most places have. I love the list of different groomers and boarding places they recommend. I think I found our new doctor for our dogs. more

Weird Place 5/15/2012

This place just gave us a bad feeling. Our ""FREE"" visit cost us $145. They don't ask you before administering treatments, then they throw the bill at you at the end of the visit. Giving my dog bones and chicken treats doesn't make up for the fact that we were not engaged as dog owners. Don't tell me what to do, suggest to me what I should do and then tell me why. I prefer vets that educate, rather than dictate. more

My new vet 4/30/2012

I found Dogs Only was clean and the process for the visit well organized. I also appreciated that the focus was on the health of my dog ? not an attempt to ?sell? me on a product that just happen to be available in the lobby. Everyone was very professional, polite and showed genuine concern for Shasta. Dr Prescott was very kind and made sure I not only understood the proposed course of action, but that I also agreed with it. Towards the end of the exam Shasta was beginning to calm down, I think she was becoming comfortable ? She?s always hated to go to the vet. more

Excellent Service 2/25/2012

A puppy is a new adventure for our family and Dr Prescott has been great helping us all settle in. The doctor and staff sat down with us to answer all of questions. I really like when the nurses write down everything that has been discussed. Our puppy is always happy to come in; she knows that the staff really loves dogs. I am totally confident that our puppy will receive the best of care. more

Caring Hospital 1/14/2012

I think the doctor and staff at Dogs Only Medical Center are great and they truly cared about my puppy. I am a new puppy owner and had many questions. They sat down with me and took the time to answer them. I felt at ease when I left. more

They Know Dogs 8/26/2011

I really am glad I brought Pooh Bear there the staff and Dr. Prescott is fantastic. They took the time and explained everything well. The packet of information they gave me had great pointers for Pooh Bear. I believe he is feeling a lot better too with his new diet. I could not be more happy. more

Never Taking My Dogs there 5/13/2011

Dr. Prescott is by far the most rude, direspectful and inconsiderate vet I have ever met in my entire life. She is very unprofessional and only cares about the amount of money she has coming in. She couldn't care less about the health and safety of my dogs. I have never been so put off in my entire life. I would not reccommend that ANYONE take their pet to her!! Horrible place and experience. more

Great Care 5/2/2011

We won't be going anywhere else now, everything about our first visit was wonderful. Thank you Dr Prescott Zoey is feeling 100% better. The staff and docter were great. more

Vet of Choice 7/7/2010

I have had several dogs over the years. I have gone to other veterinarians but now that I have found Dogs Only, I won't go anywhere else. There is only one veterinarian, so my dogs see the same vet everytime. This is rare-most animal hospitals are chains or have multiple vets. Call me old-fashioned but I prefer the one on one attention. It is the same vet treating my dogs every time. Pros: 1 vet more

Scarlet 5/26/2010

My dog (Scarlet) and I were taking our daily walk when another dog ran off of his front porch and attacked my dog. She had been bitten pretty bad on her back. I carried her home and immediately called Dogs Only. They were able to see me right away. Pros: able to fit me in more

great vet 11/17/2009

My current dog has been seen by Dr. P since 2004, prior to that she cared for my previous 2 dogs. I am appalled by some of the posts on this site. Dr. P has always been professional and friendly at my visits. Whenever I am concerned about costs for a particular visit I always ask for an estimate and its never an issue. Sure I could take my dogs to a low cost vet clinic but that is not the kind of care I want. Dr. P and her staff know me and my dogs. When i have an appt there, I know what to expect. Pros: they know me more

'Free' Visit turned out to be $300+ 11/9/2009

After moving to Gahanna, we received a postcard for a Free Consultation Visit for this place and figured we'd try it out for our healthy 1-year old Black Lab. We took her to Dogs Only and were happy with the waiting room and how it really seems built for dogs. The facility overall seemed to be very nice. After getting into the room and being shown a slideshow on how dogs are wolves and that we shouldn't feed her just regular dog food as that's primary vegetarian - we thought the place to be a little odd but kept an open mind. After all, the slideshow did have a good point. Another point of the slideshow was to sell themselves as experts which also also seemed odd as we were already in the office, but it was nice to have something to do while waiting for the doctor. As we were in the waiting room, we were asked to come up with 3-5 questions about our puppy to ask the vet. We guessed that this was in part to help us see their expertise and knowledge and to make a better judgement if we should continue to bring our dog to their facility. We strained our brain and finally came up with a few questions in regards to our dog, one of which was that our dog tends to start her business before she actually finds a spot, lending her to pooping in a circle. This really isn't so much of a problem as a curiosity, which we expressed to the vet. When the doctor came in, she was incredibly professional and answered all of our questions. In response to the rather odd pooping pattern, she suggested cleaning of the glands and a test of some sorts but ultimately came up with no concrete answers. Then they also gave our puppy her shot and gave her flea/tick pills (which imo, she doesn't need as she's never had them) and heart worm pills, telling us we needed them for her. Now, I'm not a stupid woman and know that generally you don't get an entirely FREE consultation, but when we got to the counter and had to pay $300+, I was pretty pissed off. As we'd already had the service there, I didn't say anything but I tell you, I will NEVER go back. $300+ when they knew very well that we were coming in for a FREE consultation is pretty ridiculous. You'd think that they would have at least mentioned the outrageous costs to us when they suggested the tests. In general, we have the same thing done at our current vet and never pay more than $100. I will also definitely agree with the comment about judgmental/condescending - they are dog people, not people people there and will guilt you and be very mean if you disagree or choose to not do what service they recommend. The entire experience left me and my husband feeling more swindled than we would at a used car lot and our dog was no more healthy or happy than before we went. Pros: NONE! Cons: Used-Car Swindling, Condescending Attitude, EXPENSIVE++ more

Compassionate 10/1/2009

Dr. Prescott and staff are wonderful. They were very compassionate when Ruby was ill. They were also very reassuring when my husband and I didn't know what to do. Ruby is all better and we are very thankfull for their help through such a difficult time. Pros: location Cons: construction on Johnstown Road more

Proud Dog Owner 7/22/2009

I became a proud owner of a yellow labrador puppy last April. I decided to take her to Dogs Only and I could not have been more pleased. Now, she is almost a year and Dr. Prescott and her staff have given me all the information and recommendations that has not only made me a better dog owner but Bailey the dog she is today. When we are there for an appointment she is so excited she practically drags me thru the door! Pros: My dog loves going to the vet! Cons: no boarding more
