The women at Dogs In Suds are incredibly competent and caring. With Dante being a German rottweiler, he is extremely protective of his paws. After being charged $80-$150 to get his nails clipped [and be dangerously over-sedated] at the Chesterland vet, we began to look for safe and affordable alternatives. Though small, the system at Dogs In Suds surprised me with its quality and practicality. At first glance, perhaps to those coming from the city, this business may seem laid back or even second-rate. Though we have never believed dogs need grooming, we do know they need personal attention from people who deeply care about their well-being. This is what we found at Dogs In Suds. For $10, they ground down his nails safely and with minimal discomfort. At four years old, this was a first for Dante. We've been taking him there ever since. It's important to note: when seeing the other dogs in their care, it became apparent that Dante [at 115 pounds] is only a mid-size dog to them. The 250-pound mastiff I just met is one of their favorite clients. What's more, these women are clearly proud to serve all the dogs in their care. They definitely deserve your business. more

VERY PROFESSIONAL GROOMER! We've taken our two dogs here for years to get groomed and get their nails clipped. They're very courteous and do a great job. Today I brought my Flatcoat Retriever just for a nail trim. She is normally very nervous about getting groomed so we don't do the full grooming often. But today Pat handled her so well that a nail trim became a combout and a complete trim of all her fur and all was well. It's not like this everywhere; a lot of groomers are not experienced and don't seem to even like dogs! And many really don't know how to cut a dog based on the breed type. These ladies know how to cut each breed the way they are supposed to be cut. They are also all professional dog handlers and if there is anything you want to know about your dog breed, ask them. They will know. They are very efficient and flexible with their customers and always remember dogs that come in by name. I would highly recommend them and encourage people to support small local businesses like this! more

Very bad groomers - beware! 9/4/2007

Avoid Dogs N Suds in Chesterland, OH! We were looking for a close groomer open on Saturdays, and we found this place on the internet. That was probably our first mistake. Warning bells should have went off when most of their Saturday was open for appointments when we called two days prior. Other ""good"" groomers, such as U Dirty Dog in Lyndhurst, OH book up very quickly, but unfortunately aren't open on Saturday. The staff is nice and seemed knowledgable at Dogs N Suds so we felt comfortable leaving our dogs with them, unfortunately nice people does not equal good groomers. They said it would take about 2 hours, so 2.5 hours later we headed out there to pick up our dogs. They were still working when we got there, which was not a big deal, and we sat down to patiently wait for them to be finished. When I initially saw them, they looked a little uneven, but I didn't look at them very closely. On the other hand, my husband looked at me and said we are never coming back; he didn't like they hairstyle (if you could call it that) at all. They shuttled us out of there pretty quickly. When we got in the car and finally home we noticed all the problems. They didn't smell clean and must not have been given baths. Moreover, not only were they seriously uneven, but their stomachs we not even clipped. Some other parts weren't clipped at all, which hid the fact that huge sections of them were BALD!! I was outraged! They look pretty pitiful even now when we've had them touched up. Avoid Dogs N Suds at all costs. We paid $40 per dog. We called back later and the manager refused to refund our money. We probably should have turned around that day and gone back, but we were so angry and upset that we took our dogs there, we didn't want to return. They offered for us to bring back the dogs and fix them. But you can't fix a BALD spot that is 10"" in diameter. I wouldn't trust them to fix anything after what happened. Advice: Read reviews & get recommendations! Pros: Friendly staff Cons: Bad grooming, dirty, more
