Good food and good times 4/20/2011

I have visited Divan many times during the last 5 years. The food and service are always consistent and superb. The atmosphere is unique and upscale. I pretty much gave up going there on the weekends because it gets very crowded and without a reservation it is impossible to land a table. Instead, weekdays are not too busy. On most weekdays they have specials on food or drinks. When I want ti have a relaxing evening, I usually get a table upstairs away from the crowd and have dinner with my friends. It is highly recommended. more

Divan Worst Service and Overpriced 3/14/2011

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but it is not worth the time nor money. I ordered the Tilapia which was unedible and extremely overcooked with no flavor at all. I then ordered a coke and had a refil, yet the place charged me $5 for 2 Bottled Cokes, which were clearly fountain drinks. The garlic shrimp was decent but not worth $20. The service was extremely slow and it took over an hour to recieve the food. The blue room upstair is extremely cold. Seeing that this restaurant is an old house, they have numerous problems with heating and cooling in different rooms. The best part of the service was the valet. My car was waiting for me readily when I left. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I do not advise people to attend. more

Divan is in no way divine 3/6/2011

Although my previous experiences at Divan were pleasant, I regret ever patronizing this establishment. My husband and I entertained a large group of family members there for dinner and spent a large sum of money there last night. The many tapas plates that we ordered were delicious, as well as the entrees, which we all ate. Our server was polite. However, we were not given a chance to order desserts or coffee, which we all wanted. Nor were we allowed to order hookah, of which we wanted several. In fact, we were asked to leave while I was still eating my $31 lambchops! Apparently "our time was up." Even after a conversation with the manager, who was quite condescending and smarmy, we were still booted from the restaurant before we were finished with our evening. Despite our great displeasure, we were still asked to pay our entire bill, which was hundreds of dollars. My husband and I are Arab, his brothers and cousin are all Arab, and we will all raise large Arab families in Atlanta. Had we not been treated so very, very poorly, we would have returned many times, together and individually. However, because we feel mistreated and embarrassed, Divan has now forfieted thousands of our dollars in future revenue. So, if your looking to be rushed through expensive cuisine and the thrown into the street (and in our case, rain), then Divan is the place for you. more

Sexy in the City 2/6/2011

Sexy in the City...Very nice chic spot for birthdays, GNO, or just something simply different from the norm. Visited Divan's with our monthly restaurant group. Although the group was a little hesitant being that this is a "Hookah Lounge" and no one in our group had ever tried a hookah before-we had a blast (try the cocktail flavored hookah). The drinks were awesome, the food was great (had the shish kabobs which were seasoned to perfection) and the setting was perfect. If you have not visited this spot yet, definitely add this to your 2011 to-do-list. Great spot to take out of town guest-sure they will not be disappointed. more

Divan is fabulous! 5/11/2010

I go to Divan at least once a week. My girlfriends and I really enjoy the food and the bartender, Lala, makes incredible drinks! The atmosphere is fun and social. Try the Sangria that Lala makes. It's delicious!! more

Cool place 12/30/2009

I went there with friends and I greatly enjoyed this place. The food was great, hookahs are very entertaining. Pros: Food and atmosphere Cons: None more

Romantic and fun 10/31/2009

What a fun place, my wife and I always eat at Divan. I love the atmosphere. It reminds me of a small version of Buddha Bar. It is cozy and very romantic. The food is superb and the service is great. Pros: great food, upscale more

Great place for relaxing 6/9/2009

Who knew Buckhead was so cool!!!? From the second we walked in the door, Divan reminded us of cool spots of San Francisco. This place has a very cool vibe, it is upscale, and has excellent food and service. The host was also extremely nice and friendly. We didn't have a reservation. And, he tried to get us a table on a busy Saturday night. We had to wait about an hour for our table. The host brought us a couple of drinks on the house which was a very nice gesture. Overall I intend to go back there soon. Of course, I will make a reservation ahead next time. Pros: cool vibe, very upscale, excellet food and service Cons: too small more

AWESOME place! 5/11/2009

I frequent Divan because it is such a cool place! I was there last saturday with a group and everyone had a great time! The waitresses are not only attractive but extremely helpful, we had different girls check on us several times throughout the evening even though we werent their table. The food is amazing, the kabobs are reasonable and good portions, deserts are incredible. I found that when ONE disgruntal guest has a semi bad experience they will lash out like the prior reviews.....its probably the same person writing over and over again. YES, there is a dress code, but come on, this is a nice place and most places like this will not let you in with shorts and flip flops and it seems people would know that if they are going out on a special occasion. The staff is amazing, they will sit at your table and talk to your whole group about whatever is going on, they will even give you their personal numbers to call them directly next time you want to come in and reserve a table! more

The bad decision that haunted me 5/11/2009

My first thought when arriving at Divan was "Is this a Brothel or a restaurant?" but after entering the house I realized that all the prostitutes must be downstairs. The atmosphere is my biggest complaint other than the rude bar tender and wait staff. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and it was awful. Him not getting layed that night is the direct fault of this snobby "restaurant". I'm not even sure what to call it because the food was in small portions and tasteless. If you ever want to get layed again don't take your girl or anyone to this place! Pros: none Cons: many more

dont waste money 5/6/2009

First off the restaurant itself looked like a shack in the middle of piedmont. It was raining outside, and we didn?t want to pay for valet parking, so we were made walk in the rain. The host was rude and condescending and the waitress seemed to be high on something. She seemed spaced out and talked in a baby voice. The only thing going for her was looks which is probably why she was hired. When we stated that we did not have a reservation, the host looked at us with such scorn that I thought he was going to explode. They put our group (it was my best friends birthday) at this cramped little table away from everything. I was practically on top of my friend...they need to get bigger tables. No one was in the place at all?I mean they could have given us a better table. The atmoshere was horrendous. We didn?t even get to try their food (which I imagine would be horrible since the restaurant itself smelled like sh*t) because we got kicked out for wearing shorts. It was 80 degrees outside and were in atlanta!! Were in a recession for Christ?s sake, these people need to learn how to treat potential customers right instead of acting like pretentious snobs. This place was the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. I would rather die a thousand fiery deaths than ever be dragged to that hole again!! Go to Darvish on mansell, that place is awesome! DOWN WITH DIVAN!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

I was so disapointed 5/6/2009

the staff was very rude to me and my party. Also it was my birthday and no free dessert. Our waitress was really stuck up just like the rest of the staff. I took rudeness to be the theme of the whole place. oh yeah there is a dress code so make sure not to wear anything comfortable. Pros: interesting location Cons: rude staff, high priecs and poor food quality more

good food, bad experience 2/2/2009

I was there a few days ago, and all I can say is that they are awful. Well. let's be honest, food was very good, but the waiter was so rude and careless(had problem communicating I believe). Overall, I don't think I would recommend anyone to go to this place! more

Awesome drinks and hot server!! 1/23/2009

We took a buddy that had never done the hookhah before and he was pretty impressed with it. Our server recommended the long islands and they were great, she said the guy that was bartending was one of the best they have, no arguements. Service was awesome our server was really nice and sat and talked with us a little, come to find out she goes to the GSU with us. We would recommend this place for college students looking for a cool place to hang and have great drinks. more

Romantic, Fun, Great Food! 7/22/2008

Although the service was lacking (very slow and uncaring), we had a wonderful dinner (celebrating a birthday) and romantic evening. Divan has very good food, and the atmosphere is indeed cozy. Make sure you do not wear a short dress or skirt because the tables are very low to the floor! Divan's interior decor is beautiful, with pillows, fabrics, and low lighting, it is a great date spot. I will return just to have the Duck Leg Confit appetizer again. The duck is some of the best in Atlanta. It is seasoned just right with a mix of cilantro, sage oil, and blackberries. It falls right off the bone and is not too soggy, the boyfriend loved it and he is not a regular fan of duck. The Six Spice Potatoes are pretty good, they have a spicy little kick. We had the Shish and Lamb Kabobs for dinner. The meat could have used a little more spice but the delicious basmati and saffron rice made up for it. We skipped dessert and ordered the strawberry flavored hookah which was fun. It was a pricey date, but worth it, we will definitely return to Divan for another fun night and to try more of the cuisine. We recently visited Divan again on 3/6/09 and it was wonderful! Again, they have the best duck ever! I can not describe to you how delectable the Duck Leg Confit starter is. This time the service was much better, from the hosts to the actual server. We were very well taken care of! Divan has some of the best food around. If you like seafood the Tilapia dish is well prepared. There are so many delicious flavors infused in one. The fish is cooked perfectly, tender in the inside and full of flavor and just the right amount of crispiness on the outside. I have never liked the taste of dill, but on this fish dish it is just right. The shish kabobs this time around were also delicious. We can not wait to go back to Divan and probably will for every special occasion! Pros: Great Food, Interesting Venue, Romantic, Cozy Cons: Service Could be Better more

Amazing Food & Service! 6/29/2008

We celebrated my husband's suprise 40th birthday at Divan - we rented a private room upstairs. We felt like royalty and the food was exquisite. Every one of my thirty-odd guests asked me how I found out about such a wonderful place. Each course of food left my guests wanting more and my husband was totally blown away by both the food and the service. We enjoyed every minute of it. When we left, there were people lining up at the door to get in - the place was buzzing.... Max, the manager was an excellent host - thank you for making it a night to remember!! Pros: Brilliant Food & Service Cons: Absolutely None. more

Absolutely wonderful food, atmosphere and service. 6/20/2008

I hosted my best friends birthday party there in late May and had been there multiple times in small groups prior. DIVAN was wonderful, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks and the wait staff was very attentive and gracious. We had a blast .........would definitely go there again and again. I can't stress enough how wonderful DIVAN is. more

Amazing food and great atmosphere 4/3/2008

My boyfriend and I went to Divan just for some apps, drinks & to smoke a hookah. Well, we were so impressed by the food and service! We ordered the goat cheese appetizer, and it was incredible! We also got some desserts, the chocolate cake and the panna cotta. The chocolate cake was a molten lava cake that was so yummy. It was rich, chocolatey and very satisfying. The vanilla panna cotta with figs went well with it, since it was light and very flavorful. They have new hookah flavors now like cosmopolitan, white grape & fuzzy navel. I loved the cosmopolitan hookah. My pomegranate martini went really well with everything. It was a fun dining experience. We can't wait to go back! more

Best of Buckhead 1/30/2008

The first time there last Saturday - recommended by a reletive. We were celebrating my wifes birthday. Greeted at the door by a nice lady - asked if we had reservations - which we did. Asked if we were celebrating any special occasion - obviously said yes - my wifes birthday. After seated in a really cool spot, we were approached by the GM as we were giving our orders. He said he understood there was a birthday girl in our party and like he already knew her - wished my wife a happy birthday and asked the server after we finished our dinner, to get us a complimentary dessert platter of our choice. A+++ Very relaxed atmosphere - our server was great - very on top of everything - I am not much of a martini drinker but their selections and recommendations were perfect. Actually all in all it was a first time experience for a few of us never having hookahs and not being martini drinkers - so a surprise all the way around. The music was fun - and we could hear each other which was nice not to be blown away as you get in alot of restaurants. Later , the GM came back and checked up on us - extremely professional. From the time we came in to the time we left - we had great service, good food, great drinks, tasty hookahs and most importantly, my wife had a great birthday! Thank you all for making our visit a great experience! You now have a bunch of new people that will be stopping by more often! Pros: Attention to detail, friendly staff, overall a wonderful time Cons: none more
