**Update** 01/22/2014\r I find it only fair to follow my review with the conclusion of my complaint. Fred the owner has since apologized and refunded $300. $125.00 for the bumper to bumper inspection, $75.00 for the labor charged to change the brake light and $100.00 reimbursement for the replacement battery. I found this to be more than fair. I am appreciative that the matter was resolved, however it is still very unfortunate the way it was handled. more

My husband and I have been regular customers of Fred's for years. He has always been up front and honest about cost and repair time. My most recent visit was to check on a tie rod repair for my Saturn Aura. When Fred told me they were finished checking out the problem, I remembered that my light was on for low tire pressure, so I asked if they wouldn't mind checking it out for me. That's when he told me that they noticed the light too. I had a screw stuck in my tire and, oh by the way, they had already fixed it for me!! That's the kind of customer service you just don't get anywhere else these days. We will continue making the trip from Stafford to Discount Car Clinic when we need to because being able to TRUST your auto mechanic is wonderful! more

I've been taking all of the family cars to Car Fix Center for several years now. I was going to another auto repair shop very near, but gave up on them (too long of a story). \r \r This is what I really like about Car Fix Center. I had taken my wife's Honda to the dealer for some warranty work. The Honda service rep (as always) tried to sale some other maintenance need. The rep said my wife's Honda needed new brakes. The cost wasn't cheap, so I decided to wait and shop around. I took the Honda to Car Fix for an oil change and asked the guy to look at the brakes. The mechanic said the brakes were in good condition and didn't need any work. He could have easily said otherwise. Honesty is so hard to find in an auto repair shop. Ever since then, I've had them do all my repairs. They even did some Honda extended warranty repairs. I don't recall ever having to take a car back in for a repeated issue. I can't comment on their prices, but I trust them to do the work correctly which is important. They do have coupons on the back of Kroger receipts which helps.\r \r I highly recommend them. more

I'm re-posting my review that i placed on Yelp before it was ""filtered."" I would just like to share my experience with you.\r \r \r My dad told me to go to Discount Tire for my next set of tires, but when i got there, they told me it would nearly take 3 hours!! I didn't want to make my dad mad and just leave, but after about 30 minutes in the waiting room, i decided enough was enough. They were still working on the same cars as when i first walked in. When I asked for my keys back, I received one of the ugliest looks from the salesman that i had ever gotten. The main reason my dad wanted me to go there was because they still owed me a stud that they had broken off at my last tire rotation so before i left i asked them about it and they said that they don't do that type of work and I'd have to get it taken care of somewhere else and bring the receipt back to them for a reimbursement. How are you going to work on tires but not be able to fix the problems you caused? \r \r So i called my dad to see what he wanted me to do, but i told him about the place i had seen on the way here called Car Fix Center/Discount Car Clinic/Magic Muffler and Brakes. He had told me that there were a lot bad reviews about the place online and i should probably take it to another place. Considering i was on a time crunch and the shop was right down the street, i disobeyed my dad (and boy am i glad i did). \r \r First thing i did when i walked into the office was gasp at the cleanliness (this place doesn't look like a car shop on the inside, really really nice. I asked what was up with all the different names and they said that the owner had remodeled about a year ago and combined his two shops into one, but didn't want to lose the customer he had gained over the years who might think it changed ownership.\r \r Well, not only did they get my tires on within an hour, but they replaced the broken stud that Discount Tire had broken, and even put it on a separate ticket so i could give it to them for my refund. They also checked my alignment (another thing that discount tire doesn't do) and showed me why i didn't get the full mileage out of my old tires. Before allowing them to do any of the work, i called my dad to confirm that everything they were telling me was true. He didn't believe the price of the tires at first, and when i confirmed that it was true, he told me to get the alignment. \r \r They told me to bring my car back every oil change for a tire rotation and every other oil change for the tire balance/ tire rotation and alignment check. These are things i didn't know needed to be done. They said the mileage interval would be every 5000 miles, but i thought the oil needed to be changed every 3000 miles. They told me that with the synthetic blend oil they use, it only needs to be changed every 5000 miles and they I'm wasting my money changing it every 3000 miles at the other places. \r \r So to sum it up, i now have a new place for all of my car needs. I m glad i disobeyed my dad this once and went here any way. Don't just take the bad reviews into account, go here and find out for yourself. Some of the most professional and friendly staff i have ever encountered.\r more

I have always taken my Infiniti to the dealership for my repairs and maintenance, but will take my car to Discount Car Clinic for the State Inspections. That was before i started comparing prices, so I decided that on my most recent State Inspection, I'd allow them to do my 60,000 mile service. Not only did they thoroughly explain to me the process that would be undertaken on my vehicle, but after the work was done, they showed me that the work had been done properly (something I didn't even ask them to do). These people took the time to make sure I was educated about my car, and the requirements for getting the longest life out of it. This is a one stop shop that requires me to only need to bring my vehicle to be serviced in one spot, right here! If you haven't been here before, I'd suggest giving them a chance, you won't regret it. more

I just happened to stop by this shop because no one else wanted to do my inspection on Saturday. Like many others, I was shocked by the layout. The place is beautiful and spacious. Employees were very friendly and treated me with respect. Some shops kind of ignore foreigners or treat them like 2nd class citizens. Not here!! They seem to have a very diverse staff, which is not typical in the Sugar Land area. They did try to up sell me, but it was not in a forceful way, and they actually took me outside and showed me the items that were in bad shape. I did replace the bad items and I am setup to come back for everything else. Even upon declining the additional work, they still treated me with respect. Great shop!! more

I stopped by this shop to compare prices. I had been to two other shops before hand to get an estimate for repairs. I was surprised to see that Discount Car Clinic was cheaper by about $100. I kind of figured that they were going to change the price once they had the vehicle apart, but the price never changed. The main reason I decided to get the work done here was, well obviously the price played a huge part, but the shop had a great atmosphere. The waiting room was very nice. Not at all typical of an automotive repair shop. This shop has earned my business by having a courteous crew, great prices, and a wonderful atmosphere. more

Awesome shop!! I checked the reviews on several sites, and yes I was a bit hesitant but then I realized a lot of the negative reviews were created by former employees. There was also a few negative reviews given by customers who didn't actually do any repairs or those that claimed that the prices were too high. Living in the First Colony / Sugar Land for the past 8 years I can tell you, Discount Car Clinic s pricing is far better that of the national chains in the area, including Firestone, NTB, Goodyear, Christian Brothers and yes, even Discount Tires. The service is by far the best I've received from any of the chains I mentioned above. And yes I have visited them all. I have been doing my business with Discount Car Clinic for the past 8 years, with the one exception of trying out Christian Brothers when they first opened, and that was only once. The crew at DCC have always treated my wife and I like family and we continue to send all our family members there. Best shop in Sugar Land!! Don t take my word for it, give them a try. You won t be sorry. more

Went in for a basic oil change service. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. I was actually pretty amazed how nice and clean the shop was. As a female, I really hate taking my car to the repair shop because most of the time the shops are dirty and the sales people are pushy. I did not encounter this at all. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The biggest plus for the shop was the waiting area. I felt so comfortable sitting there that the time just flew by. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone in the area, especially women. more

Let me start by saying that I worked several years as a service advisor for a local dealership in the past. That being said, I am very particular on who I let work on my vehicle. \r \r Upon driving up to Discount Car Clinic I did see the $19.77 oil change sign. Not that I needed to know, but the service advisor did actually look up the recommended oil for my particular vehicle according to the manufacturers specifications. I have been to other shops before that just try to put in the bulk 10w30 oil, assuming that all customers are just cheap. I was actually able to watch them open brand new quarts of Mobil 1 Full Synthetic motor oil and put it into my vehicle. \r \r As for the shop itself, hands down, the most beautiful shop in the area. They have two lobbies with flat screen televisions, leather sofas and chairs, wi-fi access, gourmet coffee, free beverages and plenty of reading material. They even have a kids play area with toys. The bathrooms are extremely clean and spacious, and best of all they have four, not just that unisex closet that most shops call a restroom. \r \r The service was great. I know some people are turned off by sales people, but the crew here did their job. I did not feel any pressure and they did not force me to buy anything. They did advise me of services that were needed and the scheduled maintenance that was coming up. As for the prices, they are on par with other ""MAJOR"" shops in the area. I am not the kind of customer who will go to a ""LESSER"" shop just to save a buck. I prefer to deal with a shop with knowledgeable employees and state of the art equipment. \r \r My overall experience was great. I personally prefer to give my business to a local business man over a corporation or chain, so this shop was just what I was looking for. It is hard to find a small business owner who does things the right way. I am just glad I finally did. Thanks guys!! more

Great Service and great facility. I compared prices for a brake service between a local dealer and Discount Car Clinic. Discount was far better with a savings of $75.00. The employees, Mike and Eddie were professional, explaining all the options. I went to Discount via a recommendation from a friend, glad I did. They have my business!!!! more

My dealership told me that my car was not going to last much longer, so I went for a second opinion. Thank goodness I found this shop! They told me all I needed was some engine work and they thoroughly explained the problem and the price was reasonable. more

I have been coming here for years and have always gotten great service! They are clean and professional and very reasonably priced. My A/C unit broke during the miserable Houston summer heat and they were able to repair it so quickly...and my A/C still works like new! They can fix anything and my car always runs better when I pick it up than it did when I dropped it off at a fraction of what I would have to pay at a Volkswagen service center. They have a lot of complimentary services and the free shuttle service is so convenient - whenever I take my car in they take me back to work and then pick me up when my car is ready. I would never take my car anywhere else and would recommend this place to all my friends!! more

I have lived in the Sugar Land area for over 15 years and have been going to Discount Car Clinic and Magic Mufflers and Brakes for years and have always been treated as a valued customer. Most recently my car battery completely died on Dulles Ave on my way home from work. I called close to closing and Ashley, the manager, helped me get my car over to the shop and replace the battery and get me out of the hot summer heat!! more

i thought mike was buying the place? these other guys are something. $1500 for axles? i got a quote from mike for $550. how can that be? neddless to say im done with this place. be aware. can somebody tell me where mike went? more

This place is unreal high. I went in with dead battery I told them It needed a battery they told me they had to check it out. Well they told me it needed an altenator well I drove it in after a jump 25 miles away at work so if it was bad would I make it that far? No Fred tryed to charge me 2 hours for Daig fee and I was only there 10 minutes. I told him that was way to much We atgued He cut it half after 20 miuntes Still to much. Long story short Mike and the guys at american Automotive put a battery in for 110 dollars 72 month battery half hour labor They tested the alt before and said it was fine. Fred Tarrvalie Is a teft who prays on peoples lack of knowlage and should not be trusted. more

i am a ex employe and this place is a scam he promised to sell the place to mike and screwed him over he can't keep any employees due to him stealing from them they steal from there customers also selling parts and service they do not need don't go to work here and unless you like being ripped off by a iranian don't go get your car worked more

I had work done their when Mike and Walt were running the show it was great. Now that They both got Fired By FRED the Owner / Crook it really bad!!! Got a Quote 2 weeks ago for a complete Brake Job for my 08 dodge ram DCC price $2500.00 when down the street to Americans Choice Automotive BTW: Mike and Walt now work here!! Right down the street next to discount tire!! Jacob your shop ROCKS!!! ACA quoted $1000.00 for the complete job with better parts!! Fred is a crock of s**t. He still calls me and text me because I didn't spend $2500 and let him do my brakes!! PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH DISCOUNT CAR CLINIC!! HE WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! more

I have been going shop to shop for years now trying to find an honest place that knows what there doing. I went into Discount Car Clinic after getting a check engine light checked at a ""professional auto shop"" right down the road from them. That shop had my car for 4 days, charged $300 for checkin it out and gave me a quote of over $3,000 to fix my car. I brought it to Discount Car Clinic and Mike and his guys checked it out for under $100 and found it was a really simple fix. he explained everything to me and gave me a honest price. they even did a complete multi point check as a courtisy. for all they did, i only spent $200 to fix my car. 2 other shops told me it would cost thousands to repair and Discount Car Clinic did it for a fraction of they wanted to charge me. I am 50 years old. I have had many cars with many problems in my time and I have never been to a shop that has explained exactly whats the problem, what they have to do to fix it, and what they can improve on when Im here. They really know what they are doing over there. Im a customer for life!!! Pros: experts in the field Cons: do not see one more
