Best

If you like fat crust pizza- skip this place. However, if you by any chance happen to love thin crust or at least willing to try- go for the D'Lorenzo's pizza. I been there at Ham...

Worst

I read the Citysearch reviews and drove all the way to the seedy side of town that De Lorenzo's is in. Crisp crust... yes, tasty... no. By the way, I actually liked the fact that ...

Is this Heaven or Hudson St? 8/11/2002

Get the sausage pie and taste why a 10 rating may be too low. Get the plain and order another when it's ready. You'll thank me for that tip. Toccanelli's knows the best pie is from Trenton. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Street parking more

THIS IS PIZZA! 8/9/2002

Whoever invented pizza had this place in mind. Their pizza's the BEST and, YES, I've been to many places in NYC (I'm there constantly) and most of the best in Jersey (Pete & Elda's is a runner up). Yeah, the place is a dump, but so is Peter Luger's. YES the people have bad attitudes, but so do they at Peter Luger's. This place is a must for those who want to know what pizza should taste like, just ask for a double topping as opposed to a single. DeLorenzo's sits comfortably in the pizza throne. Pros: Food Cons: Envirnoment more

Great Pie.....but 7/29/2002

Witout a doubt the best tomato pie (or pizza) I have ever had. What makes DeLorenzo's so good is no mystery; it's just good ingrediants. While the pie is great, the service, in a word, sucks. If you're not a regular you won't be aware that there isn't a menu. And you won't be aware that aren't any bathrooms until it's too late! How this is allowed to continue in a restuarant is amazing. And, if you're lucky enough, you may get the pleasure of having the owner's wife wait on your table. Consider yourself extremley lucky if she mutters a ""thank you"". Any half-decent pizza shop with a brain could put out the same product as DeLorenzo's; instead of using cut-rate ingrediants spend a little more and go for the quality stuff. more

It's Tomato Pie! 7/18/2002

It's not pizza, it's tomato pie and DeLorenzos is the BEST. Thin crust, order it with sausage, mushrooms and garlic and make it well done. New Haven, NYC, Chicago and Philly, all runnersup. more

Editorial
  • In Short
Long ago transformed from row house to restaurant, this family-run pizzeria still feels like a home. The tomato pie is as down-home and authentic as the surroundings. Sweet...
