All day spa package...lovely 6/19/2011

Before going, I read the reviews online. I almost canceled because of them. I am glad I didn't. I got the All Day Package and was pleased. The staff was very professional. I am not one to go to the fancier, high-end spas, so I didn't mind that the spa was located in an older building. To me, it had a lot of charm. The place reminded me of the homes I knew growing up in this area. The experience was like having a spa day at home. The lady who did my nails, Karen, I think, was especially nice. She and I chatted on the porch after I had my lunch. The lunch was from Atlanta Bread Company (which I love anyway), but the add does make it sound like more than it really is by calling it a champagne lunch. Everything else was exactly as I would have expected. For $200 I got a very relaxing, hour long massage, a facial, a mani/pedi, had my hair cut and styled, eyebrows waxed, and had make up done, and I didn't have to go to six different places to have it done. I feel like I got just what I paid for. I would go again for a special treat. more

Sensitivity Training for Staff Needed 3/13/2010

I had high hopes for visiting this spa. I spent lots of time researching spas in the area that welcomed a diverse clientele. My husband and I moved from the Northeast and after having one bad spa experience after another in the Greenville area I gave up. I just drove to Atlanta every other weekend for a spa date, because of not feeling welcomed at any of the Greenville area spas. However, after developing a hectic schedule I decided to give this place a chance after my husband spoke with a representative and they assured "everyone was welcomed". The website even had this statement in bold, red lettering. I decided to give this place a try and booked an appointment with ease. I arrived and checked in to find that my confirmed spa time was not exclusive. I had to share my spa time with several other women. My spa time didn't begin on time as scheduled and I had wait times of 30 to 45 minutes between services. When I commented about this to one of the other patrons she stated that it was always like this. This has not been my experience at other spas! I expected to begin services on time and continue through with minimal waiting. Services were fair, but some of the technicians seemed less professional than I would have liked. Plus some seemd a little uncomfortable providing services to me as a woman of color. At one point, I even overheard one of the technicians refer to me as "the colored girl". This blew my mind and truly did not make me feel welcomed as I so hoped I would be. I didn't let on that I heard the technician but the lady next to me whispered to me that she was sorry I had to hear that comment. Her sensitivity made me feel a little better, because even if the staff wasn't sensitive at least this patron of the salon was. I had hoped for a much better spa experience but am sad to say that after this one I am back to driving to Atlanta twice a week for spa services. Hopefully sometime in the future a truly nice spa that welcomes a diverse clintele will open in the Greenville area. Pros: Family Owned and Operated, Responsive to Inquiry Cons: Older Building, Messy Cluttered Facility, Insensitive Staff more

Husbands & Boyfriends...Pick Another Spa! 2/15/2010

I've been to a lot of day spas around the country. This is by far the worst. My husband decided to treat me to a spa day for Valentines day. They failed to tell him that they were way overbooked. The waiting area had between 5-6 ladies waiting for over an hour for services at any point in time. Also, very unprofessional...the facial lady leaned over to the nail tech and announced that the "colored girl in the pink robe" needed her nails done. Everyone in the area was shocked...this type of language is unacceptable! Also, the restroom changing area, massage room and salt glo room were all a mess. There were also hairs in the shower from other clients. The lunch area had the same dirty placemats not changed from client to client. After waiting an excessive amt of time and from disgust, I left early. Save your $$$ and go to a real day spa! Pros: Nail Techs - Great Cons: This Salon is Filthy, Unorganized & Unprofessional more

Great spa 3/9/2009

I received a gift certificate for a day at the spa for Valentines Day. I just recently got to use it and I must say it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. From the moment that I walked in the door to the moment that I left, I was absolutely pampered by the staff of the spa. Everyone was so friendly. The manicure and pedicure were very nice, but the best part of the whole day was the massage. Very relaxing. Champagne lunch is a very nice touch. This was the first time that I visited this spa, but I would definitely recommend it to others and go again myself. Soon.......hopefully. Pros: very talented staff more

Best Massage 3/4/2009

I had a wonderful time at the Day Spa. I did the full package and loved it. I did have to wait for a while at times but it really wasn't a bother because atleast I wasn't stuck in the house. I mean really...isn't that why you go to a DAY spa? To get away??? I had an amazing massage and the hairstylist was wonderful. I looked and felt amazing. If you get the day spa package make sure you add the salt glow. It's a little bit more but well worth it. My skin is so soft. The staff was very accomodating and very attentive. You women complaining about the champagne shouldv'e just asked for more. They had no problems with filling my glass again. Overall I had a great time. Pros: excellent staff, relaxing atmosphere, great price Cons: small waits, small parking lot more

Very Professional Spa Services 3/1/2009

I found Day Spa 12 West Stone to be a very professional spa. So far, I've had a massage there and it was one of the most relaxing ones I've ever received. They are also very accommodating to the schedules of those who have to work during the day. I will be going back soon and look forward to another massage and trying out their other services. Pros: Convenient for those who live or work downtown, accommodating for busy schedules, great massages Cons: limited parking, time slots fill up fast - call ahead more

The Day Spa, DEFINATELY NOT RELAXING! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! VERY UNPROFFESIONAL!!! 3/1/2009

My daughters purchased me a gift certificate to "The Day Spa" for my B/DAY, I walked in the door excited looking forward to a day of pampering! I had no idea what was about to take place! I spent more time waiting in that waiting room, than I did getting ANY spa treatment! My appointment was schedualed for 11:00 A.M., HOWEVER, I was not called back until 12:30 and to make matters worse, there were 8 other people waiting in that waiting room, when I questioned a few of them, they said they were schedueled at 11:00 too! My first stop was a facial, and after I was put in there, they brought another woman in there as well,(which seemed very odd to me) she went back and forth between us. However, during that time she informed me that her Mother (Carol) was late, and until her Mother came in she had to work the front desk, translated to mean, Carol was an hour and a half late! Back to the waiting room for another hour of waiting, then the massage, that was disappointing as well, then I ate lunch, (which turned out to be the best part of the day), once again back to the waiting room for 45 mins. Then the salt glow, back to the waiting room, THIS TIME FOR ANOTHER HOUR! Then the Pedi, and Mani, out of all the treatments this was the best! After she was finished, back to the waiting room for almost 2 HOURS. Carol came into the waiting room asked another client if all she had left to do was hair and makeup, the client pointed to me and said she is waiting for hair and makeup too. Carol then said, "oh I thought their was only one client left," then proceeded to ask me, "do you still want your hair and makeup done" I said, my kids gave me this as a gift, so, yes finish this. I was told I would be there 4 - 5 hrs, max, I was there 71/2 miseralbe hrs. I don't usually write reviews, But, I feel strongly about this. Spend your money wisely, CHOOSE ANOTHER SPA, and always read the reviews! Pros: Leaving Cons: very unprofessional more

Best Hair Stylist in town at Day Spa 12 West Stone 2/26/2009

Years ago I was treated to a day of beauty at the day spa. I had a wonderful facial, eyebrows waxed, manicure, pedicure, massage, salt glow, champagne lunch, hair cut and style. I was hooked. Heidi did a wonderful style on my hair, and then taught me quite a bit about applying Aveda make-up! I left my other stylist and I always have my hair colored, cut, and styled by Heidi. I love the Aveda products and the owner, Carol, can tell you the best ones for your special needs. I enjoyed all my treatments and had a champagne lunch too. The technicians take extra time to give you the best service they can provide. I love the low key, non-threatening environment. I have been to places that made me feel like I wasn't good enough, but I was treated like a queen at Day Spa 12 West Stone. Carol Clary Pros: the service, technicians, location is great, a good value Cons: a little hard to get in the parking lot more

Unprofessional spa! 10/30/2008

I came to this spa for a full BRAZILIAN WAX. Not the 1st time I had this done so it wasn't a new experience,-but definitely the most horrible/unprofessional 1 I've ever had. The spa I usually go to for the Brazilian (started getting waxed before my wedding,& decided to keep going) requires an app. far in advance & I'm on a tight sched.- I just searched for a place that looked nice/professional & didn?t require plans 2far in advance. Well, when I got there I should've just left?the inside of the place is old/run down-- might just cave in? some of the walls are makeshift & during the whole process u can hear people talking though the walls. -------Now the worst part: when u entered the spa NORMALLY the specialist asks the client to remove their clothes, lie down & then the specialist Leaves The room. But NO she just stood there-seriously! For 2min? & finally said you can get on the table SO I BASICALLY HAD TO UNDRESS W/ HER STANDING THERE & then get on the table? VERY weird &UNPROFESSIONAL. [[Now, I sure that some of you at home are thinking "what were you doing getting that done in the first place?you?re weird" but waxing (when done by a competent professional)is a better/safer/more advantageous choice than shaving & a good way for me to keep my business to the clean-level of my choosing. (yeah it was awkward the first time?but not nearly like this)& if you?re curious about the procedure do a little research]] ---During the process she proceeds to carelessly let her gloves get covered in hot wax & the touches my skin (so when she removes her hand I have unnecessary pain as my skin pulls up stuck to her glove--- lovely!)? the job was 1/2 done. on top of all this she didn?t leave for me to get dressed either ?the place is just a little?ahh, not right. Having been to a professional spa w/good service, facilities, & atmosphere this was an EXTEME DISAPPOINTMENT. The methods used were outdated, the technician was unprofessional ==it was all horrible! :( Pros: family ran(good--not in this case) no pros that i can see-- maybe that they offer packages-- still not a pro because there servies are not worth paying for Cons: unprofessional, run down(outside is beautiful-inside horrible), un-skilled, not relaxing, should i go on? more

NOT WORTH THE FRUSTRATION!!!!! 5/31/2008

This place was terrible. I have been to quite a few spas and never have I experienced anything like this. I was so disappointed and disgusted that I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am still in shock from paying $200.00 to sit on a built in front porch, sweating from being in a big thick robe because the wall unit air conditioner was "turned on low." The icing on the cake though was when I was eating my box lunch from the Atlanta Bread Company at the table on the hot porch and was asked to sit somewhere else because they had to make room for someone. I ended up sitting in a chair with my lunch in my lap, eating. I arrived at 11:00 and didn't leave until 4:00 and trust me the time was not spent being pampered. The pedicure and the manicure was a joke. I could have done better at home with a file and some clippers. The facial experience was me and another woman I didn't even know, in a room, with a woman going back and forth between us. In other words it was a big waste of my time and mostly my money. Pros: The massage & meeting new people Cons: Over all experience more

You get what you pay for, and that may be a bit expensive for this 'spa' 12/21/2007

I received a gc to this spa as a gift. I also read the previous two reviews prior to going there. I was glad I did, as I was prepared and not surprised at what was in store for me. Let me start by saying I have been to many day spas, and love them. I know what to expect, and 12 West Stone is not what I would call a clean, well run day spa. From the outside it is inviting, however, onece you get into the rooms you can see what I am talking about. The crummy rooms, crowded bath/laundry/tool cleaning room was not ideal. The 'salt glow' room was a room with a table, pad, & sheet, on a fake tile floor with a mop and a broom in it where a girl comes in and literally spoons dry chunk salt on your skin. Then you take a shower to rinse off. The manicure/pedicure was an insult to anyone who has actually had one at a spa or salon. You sit in a recliner in a room with your feet in a tub of hot water - in a conair like plug in massaging tub. You are sprayed with alcohol before and after- she did trim my toenails, but there wasn't any other perks to it. She put on polish. The manicure was a paraffin wax dip, she rubbed in the oil, sprayed with alcohol, painted polish (with shaky hands and it looks pretty rough). The massage was ok, but the room was old and tacky. I did wait a while between the last two sessions.. The lunch was from Atl Bread Co, which was fine- I was prepared for that. The decor on the porch/waiting room was old, dated, and a little dirty. It also smelled of gas due to the heat source on the wall. The facial was not the kind of facial I am used to. Go to Nicole at Raspberry Moon Mist for a real one! The women kind of creeped me out, and I guess, after learning the price of the package, the addage is true:you DO get what you pay for. Although I think 175 is steep for what I had! There were many people in there waiting to buy gc's for christmas. My biggest regret is I didn't tell a lady waiting outside on her phone not to buy one from there as I left. Pros: lunch Cons: atmosphere more

HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/5/2007

Bought the day at the spa/ champagne lunch package. Grossly disappointing. The massage, actually hurt I had to pull away from the girl 2 times she was hurting me so badly. The facial consisted of me and my friend (girls day out) in the same room with 1 woman going back and forth between us. The manicure and pedicure were a joke. The girl doing my manicure sprayed my hands, legs, arms and feet with rubbing alcohol and then dipped my hands in paraffin. No lotion just pure alcohol and then the hot wax. As a result I have an unsightly rash on my hands, arms, feet and legs. She did not push my cuticles back or anything, basicly just washed my feet and hands and painted on some polish. Lunch consisted of a turkey sandwich and potato chips, not exactly what comes to mind with "Champagne Lunch". The champagne was actually 1/4 glass of champagne to 3/4 cranberry juice. I was bumped on 2 separate occasions by the haridresser as she didnt have time for me, even though I called a week ahead and acheduled a haircut. I was trapped in this "day spa" for 6 hrs and spent a minimum of 3 hours waiting on some part of the package. As a result Carol sent me a gift certificate for a free haircut, but said "they had done nothing wrong". If overbooking, and understaffing, false advertising and fraud are doing nothing wrong then well she is right. I would be suspicious any review saying this "spa" is worth a visit . YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Dont be sucked in by the bargain price. Go to the Spa At West End! Pros: Leaving Cons: Arriving more

Please select another spa! 3/5/2007

Please spend your money elsewhere! We should have known when we chose this spa that you get what you pay for. They were overbooked. We spent most of the six (6) hours waiting for services. The "champagne lunch" was a boxed lunch from Atlanta Bread Company. There was one hairstylist, so my friend left without a shampoo and style. The manicurists sprayed our hands and feet with alcohol before beginning. My friend is covered in a rash now. It was not a positive experience and I urge you to go elsewhere and pay the higher price. Pros: good haircut, good massage and salt glow Cons: overbooked, boxed lunch, bad manicure and pedicure more
