Editorial review from Citysearch 1/24/2013

Just ate here for the first time last week with my dad. Our reservation was for 7 on a Wednesday night; the restaurant was not too crowded, but seemed to be picking up by the time we left. Our waiter was also in charge of the wine list and was extremely knowledgeable about all of his wines. We have been in the wine business for years, so we can tell when someone is faking their knowledge. You could tell that our waiter was very passionate about purchasing and knowing about his wines. He suggested a fabulous Pinot Noir which we enjoyed (Sette Ponti Carognolo-try it!). I ordered their pecan crusted trout and little gems lettuce salad; both were fresh and prepared with perfection. We split their jalapeno mac n cheese, which had just the perfect amount of spice for the cheesiness and crispiness of the dish. We tried the nutella chocolate bar for dessert. Not only did it come out in a beautiful presentation, the dessert (which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream), it was delicious; not too sweet and synthetic tasting. All of their desserts are made in house which guarantees the freshest and creamiest tastes you can imagine. Our waiter was very attentive and we also met Bruce, the manager that night. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and patient. They recommend the prix fixe menu, but we did not choose it this time since we had our eye on other choices.\r \r I loved the trendy ambiance and atmosphere. Their bar is pretty too look at as well; I would definitely go there for happy hour with friends or dinner again. more

Mind-bogglingly horrible experience 7/17/2010

We were seated on the patio because there was a private party in the restaurant. We were given a choice of the patio or bar and chose the bar - even though it was HOT outside. We were told there were fans and we should be fine. NOT! There also was apparently something dead somewhere close by as I have never seen so many flies - outside of a garbage dump. I couldn't even eat my food and the waitress said ""yes, we've gotten that complaint all evening"". The manager couldn't be bothered and it was as if we were asking for for the moon to be seated at the bar afterall. I ordered the salmon salad but who knows what it tasted like with all the flies that were hovering. Are they kidding me? Pros: NOTHING Cons: inedible food with flies more

poor service at Dish 6/25/2010

I made a reservation for 20 people for my birthday and put down a $200 deposit. It was confirmed and the assistant manager was aware that it was for my birthday party. I was running 10 minutes late and before I arrived the assistant manager asked one of my friends to call me and make sure I was coming. They said they could not hold the tables longer than 15 minutes even though the restaurant was almost empty and I had put down money to reserve. Furthermore, my reservation was booked as 7-9, so it should not have been a problem. When I arrived, I was told that they could not serve my birthday cake and acted inconvenienced by being asked to put it in the refrigerator. I did not expect them to serve it, only provide plates and dishes. They finally agreed to put the cake in the refrigerator, but when the cake was served it had obviously not been refrigerated. Also, when my party was seated, they tried to cram everyone into one table to take up less space even though people were still arriving. Pros: food Cons: POOR service, unorganized reservations more

Amazing Patio!!!! 3/13/2010

Not only is the food great, but the patio (which is climate controlled for those chilly evenings) allows dogs! They have super cute decor making the patio feel like one of those outdoor living spaces in Pottery Barn, but with chic flair and a much more eclectic crowd. My pup drank water from the pink and blue doggy water dishes while I sipped on a Mimos-Ah. We were both feeling completely fabulous and chic. The food is executed with fine precision and the staff is knowledgeable yet friendly. Overall, this is my new go to spot for dining, drinks, and downtime. Pros: Best Atmosphere in Dallas! Cons: There aren't more locations! more

Ultra Cool 1/25/2010

A group of 6 made Dish our dining spot last night. Very cool decor (for whatever it's worth), nice host at the front door. Our waiter was as dry as they come (though attractive). A friend of mine asked if he could smile and he forced a smile for a second. I ordered the Flat Iron steak medium rare and got a very well done piece of meat, a small piece with a stainless steel cup of french fries. Other's in my group fared much better, at tender and juicy Rosemary Chicken, great burger, very good Sea Scollops, thick and flavorful pork chop. The baby iceberg lettuce salad I got was excellent, sure wish my Flat Iron steak wasn't creamated and dry as a bone. Pros: Dog friendly patio Cons: food is hit and miss, everything is Al La Carte more

Fun hip, colorful spot in admist of a recession 1/19/2010

At a time when many restaurants are closing or downscaling, Dish is a bright spot that is fun and pure escapism. Good service and a lively crowd. Had great fun and will return. And oh, the patio was fun, even on a cold night. Pros: great scene, good food at low price points more

The Perfect Dish - An Incredible Dinning Experience 11/23/2009

Last night (11/22/09), my partner and I took two of our closest friends to Dish for a special dinner. Not only were we not disappointed, we were very pleasantly surprised. Let me tell you that we were all very happy with the entire dining experience. Pros: Tasty Menu Options, Reasonable Prices, Fantastic Service, Be more

Great decor, mediocre food and drinks 11/15/2009

A couple friends and I went to the first time a few days ago, and had a good time. We went later in the evening, around 10:30, when they were serving late-night choices. It's very minimalist with beautiful wall textures and lighting, a great addition to the somewhat old-looking Cedar Springs area. I ordered the chicken tacos, which were decent, yet lacking something. The drinks, however, were really disappointing. All their special drinks are $10 (somewhat overpriced) and weak. I got a Pink Taco, which was too sweet with not enough bite to be considered worth the price. My friend's drink, the Texan, was the same, too. I would love to come back to this place again, perhaps after they get feet wet in a couple of months... and consider matching the price with the quality of the product. Pros: Great patio and bar decor Cons: Overpriced, okay food, weak drinks more
