I good place for a quick curry but I would check out the other Indian places around the block first. The prices here are a bit higher than the other Indian places close to them and more spicy. But if you want speed this is the place. The moment you walk into the door you are in line for your food. more

BEWARE!!! - THEY ARE SCAMMERS & CON ARTISTS!!!! Beware, everyone, I have been here twice within the last month late at night around midnight. I specifically ordered a meat dish, they then SWITCHED to vegetable dish underneath the counter, wrapped it up in plastic ... so I didn't realize the switch until I got home.The first time it happened, I thought it was a mistake. I used to drop in for an occassional quick meal. I ate there this week and I felt fine when I went in but had a stomach ache when I left. The pain finally went away about three days later. I won't go back. There are plenty of better restaurant in that Curry Hill neighborhood. more

Atop appropriately-named Curry Hill proudly sits Curry in a Hurry. Or really, sort of glows with bright fluorescence. In its no-frills sort of way, this restaurant is cheap and offers quality food. Filling two stories and almost always busy, it has yet to seriously disappoint me. What lacks in ambiance is made up in the food, and the service, as the name suggests is prompt, and even a bit abrupt. Food brought by the server is only half the fun, as two salad bars, wedged into uncomfortable corners on each floor, provide all the sides you crave in your Indian food. The naan, essential in dining Indian, is fresh. It isn’t gourmet, but no one is even pretending. I come here knowing what to expect, getting it, liking it all, and leaving full and happy. I've been to this place twice. The first time in a late evening, found the guy at the counter in black T shirt looking as if he has a lot of complaints about his job?? Perhaps I was too hungry, so it seemed good to me, cheap and food were acceptable, the naan/bread was very toasty, though the fish fry had apparently been on display behind the window for too long after being cooked so that it all dried out like a mummy. I imagine it could have been quite good if eaten fresh. After this meal, I though I would go there a lot in future as it's cheap and food was ok. so I went there a second time (still hungry). There was this same guy at the counter in black T-shirt, charged me $1 more and when I pointed it out, he was very hostile and reluctant to refund me the $1. Another guy who seemed to be the 'boss', offered to give me some extra vegetable dish, but ordered me repeatedly to go upstairs to wait. I didn't mind staying downstairs waiting. Finally they came upstairs with the food for me. The small portion of 'extra vegetable dish' they gave me was awful, looked as if they picked it from some throwaway to serve this ""extra"", ""free"" dish for me, and there were even some rice mixed inside! I don't know why they wouldn't have just let me pay for a decent real dish, but instead get some disgusting leftover from someone's plate and tell me I'm getting something ""extra"". Very good (by my, not particularly high standards) chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, naan, and mango lassi for a very good price. The portions are generous, as well- Combo platter B for 12 dollars is more than enough for two people, with a full meal's worth of leftovers. more

This really isn't the greatest place for Indian food. They prepare everything for Americans, which means - bland and under spiced. The place isn't that clean either and the price isn't all that great. If you think the food served at this place is great then you probably think Chef Boyardee is great Italian food.\r \r Try Kashmir on 8th between 38th and 39th - not the best service or fanciest place, but at least the cusine is authentic. So, I like curry, and I'm often in a hurry, so this place is great! Although a bit on the pricier side for a fast food Indian place, it was still worth the $10 I paid for delicious chicken tikka masala, naan bread and two samosas. Actually now that I think of it, that's a pretty good deal for the amount of food I got.\r They have a great selection of Indian food, and the masala was divine. I went to Curry in a Hurry for lunch one day when I was actually in a hurry. I ran in and scanned the menu quickly. Everything seemed to be around $6.99 for lunch. There were a lot of people in there rushing through so I had to make a choice quickly. I chose Chicken Tikka Masala since a lot of people were getting that and it looked good. It came with a veggie so I got the cauliflower medley. It all looked really good. When I went to pay they told me it was $10.83. I asked if they were sure and they said yes, and pointed to the relatively hidden sign that said so. I had to charge it since I only had $9 in cash. I went back to work and sat to eat this, hoping for at least a highly flavorful lunch. WOW was I disappointed. Maybe it was just a bad day, but the sauce was watery and low on flavor, and the chicken seemed pretty dry. I realize it shouldn't be spicy but it should still be bursting with flavor. This was dull. For $10 I should have been wowed, and I suppose I was, only I was wowed by the level of disappointment. The cauliflower was pretty awful as well. Pros: Quick Cons: Very high price, low flavor more

I was excited to try this place but unfortunately didn't get to eat as much as i wanted. i tried the chicken kebab/kofta and a masala something that had potatoes in a rice flour crepe like wrapping. the kofta was very nice, with lots of spice and flavor. it was moist as well, not dry like others i've had at other places. the indian 'burrito/crepe' I had was wonderful as well, especially if you dipped it in the corriander/yogurt chutney. i wish I could give a better critique but seeing that I'm not an expert on traditional Indian, I cant. All I can say is that what I had was flavorful and very good. I look forward to trying it again real soon so I can eat a little bit of everything. more

I come from the upper west side to eat here. casual setting, a combo platter feeds two (good idea to order and extra naan), dig the bollywood hits on the TV. Lives up to its name. As soon as you walk in the door, the food is right in front of you ready to be scooped onto your plate. Combo plates are a great deal. If you eat in upstairs, the salad, rice pudding (included) and sodas (need to pay extra) are self service buffet style. Ok, so the food is good and greasy but the service is atrocious. If you're a frequent customer, then they will hook you up with a card that will get you a free meal after 10 straight meals. The manager here refused to honor my card after I had dined in and ordered take out so many times. I've witnessed plenty of frustrated people leave this place after the customer service drove them away with rude manners and ill advised treatment. Finally I have found my neighborhood Indian take away. Food came in 20 minutes, the food was great and for a little over $20 we had dinner for 2!! Not perfect, maybe a tad greasy, but yum yum yummy. Pros: good food, quick delivery, cheap more

Curry in a Hurry is not for those looking for atmosphere, but what it lacks in stylish decor it more than makes up for in the food. Everything is tasty, especially the freshly made garlic naan. I highly recommend it. Pros: Great garlic nan, inexpensive more

And that is fast Indian food. There is seating upstairs where you can get waited on (our option). Dining room is surronded buy windows wich boads well for people watching. Food was flavorful and modestly priced. If I actually lived here I would imagine this would be my takeout inidan resturant of choice. more
