I LOVE Crunch Gym!!!! 3/14/2012

I don't understand why these people are nasty! I love Crunch Gym. I do admit at times things can be a little messy, but what gym isn't? Ever since the new Personal Training Manager took over, Garrett, things have been looking brighter! There's some new trainers who are very informative and helpful. They are always friendly and welcoming. Pros: null Cons: null more

Not worthy, dirty place, bad costumer service. 2/19/2012

I have been a member for a few years now and have seen how this place have been going downwards. Pros: null Cons: null more

Beware of billing 12/29/2011

I have been a member of Gold's gym, later Miami Beach Fitness, and now Crunch Fitness. I joined Gold's gym in 2001, and I had never had a problem. I had health issues this year in August, and I call Crunch in order to cancel my membership. Everything was OK, until I found out that they had not canceled my membership. Yesterday 12/28/2011 a very aggressive Crunch employee from the billing department called me, threatening that they were sending my account for collection, etc, etc, and they needed full payment until January 2012 if I wanted to avoid collection. There was not way of reasoning with this person, she was just aggressive and disrespectful. I paid $100.00 yesterday and they are going to charge my credit card another 98.00 on January 2nd. I had never had a problem with the former gym, Miami Beach Fitness, I canceled my husband's account on September 2010 and everything was OK, no documentation needed. If Crunch changed the rules of the game, they should had informed its members, I did not join Crunch, the former gym was bought by Crunch. But the interesting story with Crunch was that they upgraded my membership instead of canceling it. When I called to complaint that they upgraded my membership without my consent, they told me that I asked for it. I ask them to show me the paper that I signed in order to upgrade my membership, they told me that there is not paperwork or signature required in order to upgrade a membership. Funny, I have to show them a signed paper to cancel my membership, but they can just upgrade my membership and they don't need my signature or consent. Crunch should also be suit for price discrimination, there are members that can use all three gyms in South Beach and Sunny Isles without going thru an increase in their membership, if I wanted to use all three gyms my membership fee would go up. Other members only pay $800 for 18 months of membership with the right to use all three Crunch. I was paying $64.00 a month for one gym. Pros: null Cons: null more

Bankrupt 2/2/2010

Bankrupt. Crunch I was informed filed Bankruptcy recently in 2009. That does not leave a good taste in my mouth. The gym itself is cramped and above a beer pub on Washington. I was unable to find parking or where there lot is on my first few days working out. When the club went bust, nobody said anything to me. I asked around but got no where. My cancellation letter came 2 months after their bankruptcy and was met with no answer either. Crunch on Alton and Washington are both part of the bankrupt companies bid for reopen. I decided me and my friends dont need the headaches any longer and so we cancelled and joined another club. \r \r GR more

Crunch Bankrupt Again 1/28/2010

The latest news to me was sickening. I just paid $1800 for personal training and the Crunch sales rep and management that I spoke to upon joining didn't even bother to tell me they were going broke. They filed for Bankruptcy the day after my check cleared. I have been wrestling with them ever since. Hiding behind the laws which means that now I am dealing with a whole new company, they do not even have to deal with me. No more one off brands for me. Beware of Crunch , there are better options out there. Carl more

Cramped Layout and Group Fitness Studio with a gym 3/23/2007

My workouts have been severely impacted at Crunch in South Beach for several reasons. When Bally's bought this brand, they ran it into the ground and now it has been sold again. The South Beach Crunch is very cramped and long and narrow, making it awkward for actually working out. The equipment is mostly old compared to other clubs and you have to hike up the stairs to workout. Also, there is NO PARKING and if you do park, you get a ticket or worse. In the gym, group fitness classes are the main thing going on with cardio and weight equipment sub par at best. With better choices in town, the service here is really bad. No one can make decisions here so even a valid problem cannot be resolved without corporate approval. Overall, Crunch has seen better days. Pros: Group Exercise Cons: Gym Cramped, NO parking, bad service more

Who is Crunch? 11/5/2006

Crunch was formerly a good brand and it was sold to Ballys who ran it into the ground. This particular crunch store in South Beach, is highly space compromised with a narrow passage way for weight lifting. Attitude was stuffy at the entrance and since Bally sold this once again, no one seems to be at the helm. A/C has been broken on second floor for years. I would pass and find another fitness club in town based upon my last several experiences here lately. PROS: On Washington next to lots of stores CONS: no parking, equipment difficult layout, ownership and management questions more

Fun gym with a high energy vibe 8/31/2006

For specialty classes, Crunch is the best. There is a huge schedule with everything from "hot" yoga to zumba. They have 3 studios, a cardio/dance room, spinning and yoga. There was also the recent addition of a boxing ring where they offer classes and private training. Dance music, hip hop and top 40 pumps through the main floor all day, it is definitely a young, high energy crowd. There are a ton of machines for cardio and weight training; even at the busiest times there is always something available. more

Great but I also need to pay bills 5/25/2005

Crunch has a better staff than the # 1 competition, not sure if its a fake attitude but i feel more confortable. Classes and machines also great, i'd rate 9. However, its either pay the gym or pay the rent.... Way too expensive! more
