I was let down by this place. You pay a lot for mediocre bbq. Don't waste your time or money on this place. I felt like I was robbed when I left. I paid a lot of money for dry...

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/8/2013

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I was with a group of 5 after a business meeting nearby at a hotel. At lunch, we ate at Baribas (AWESOME mexican by the way with best salsa we ever had!!) and as we sat upstairs, we eyeballed the ppl eating bbq downstairs, so being from Kansas City, we LOVE bbq and wanted to try Texas style bbq. As we got seated at County Line Road, everything was fine. (We waited a couple minutes, but that's expected at the Riverwalk anywhere). However, after waiting 5 minutes seated, without a single word from a server to even get us water, we were wondering what was up, but not a big deal. Finally after 12 minutes (we timed it), a server said he'd be right with us...... another 5 minutes went by with no service.... We were VERY thirsty at this point and at 17 minutes we asked to get some water. Another 10 minutes went by and although we all REALLY wanted to try some bbq in texas as we are from Kansas City, we were so thirsty and annoyed that we decided to leave. (27 minutes)\r At that point, as we walked out, we overheard someone saying, ""clean their table up"" and one of the businessmen with me said, ""No cuz we didn't eat or drink at all so there's nothing to clean up,"" which then a manager came out and offered us dinner for free. We were so annoyed and we needed food right away and went to Paesano's next door.\r We were chatting about it and since we were going to be around for another night, and really wanted to see what Texas offered for bbq, a couple of us went back and said, ""hey, we'd like to enlist in your offer of dinner here, but we were SO hungry and thirsty that we ate somewhere else but would like to come back tomorrow night."" The manager said the offer of free dinner was only good for that night. We then said, ""Fine, just give us half off tomorrow night and we'll call it good..."" He became a complete rude person and said he doesn't respond well to threats....... He must have either needed some nicotine or withdrawal of drugs because he practically begged us to stay just 30 minutes earlier FOR FREE DINNER THAT NIGHT AND NOW WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE US HALF OFF NEXT NIGHT!! And here we were, not wanting free, but a discount because of our bad experience, but still wanted to try some Texas style bbq!! On top of that, the crazy ""manager"" guy said he talked to our waiter and said we had only been seated for 2 minutes..... why would he offer a free dinner if we had only been waiting two minutes?! Even more so, WHY would we have left if we hadn't been met by a waiter in 2 minutes?!\r All in all, if you're hungry or deserve any type of decent service, (we weren't expecting fine dining, but sure as hell weren't expecting to be ignored for over 20 minutes) don't go here; plus I feel really bad for the servers that have to deal with a manager like that; no wonder we weren't served for over 20 minutes, they probably hate their jobs dealing with a ""manager"" like that... more

Always dependable, good food 3/8/2010

I am a native Texan born in San Antonio, but live in Tennessee presently. Whenever I return to SA, I have to have a ""fix"" of the best barbecue around, so make it a policy to head to County Line. I find their food to be excellent and the service great. They also accommodate parties. Strong recommendation. Pros: Great selection and quality Cons: No cons more

Neat Atmosphere, Food is Good, Not Great 1/7/2010

I think it's a little expensive and the portion size is small. The fried food is a tad too greasy. The BBQ is good but it's far from the greatest you will find. Frankly, I think Bill Miller's is better (same type of fare as a lower price. However, this is a good choice if you want to take friends out just to experience an interesting setting where you can take your time and have beer and drinks in addition to the food. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are just looking to eat, go only if you are looking for an experience, maybe to share with some out of towners. Pros: Atmosphere, Comfort, Bread Cons: Pricey, Sometimes Too Greasy more

Not as good as expected 5/24/2008

Food was uninspiring. Left feeling like we paid too much for food that was just passing. We ordered the home made bread, pulled pork sandwich, and the beef brisket. The bead was warm and good but the entrees were not worth it. The BBQ sauce was something you could buy from a local grocery store. The decor in the restaurant was a rustic Texas feel but that didn't do anything to help the food.\r \r I would avoid and go somewhere else. more

Disappointment 7/24/2004

I was let down by this place. You pay a lot for mediocre bbq. Don't waste your time or money on this place. I felt like I was robbed when I left. I paid a lot of money for dry meat with little flavor. more
