worth the wait!! 10/27/2008

We always used to eat at Country House in Claredon Hills until we moved to Geneva, now we eat at the one out here, but we always thought it was well worth the wait. My husband and I love the burgers especially the Buffalo. But if you are going there on a weekend you will have to wait and yeah it may be longer then you were told. But the food is yummy! Mickey2095 Pros: Friendly service Cons: not enough tables more

Don't go if you have a party of more than 4. 5/5/2008

Unfortunately, I cannot speak to the food as we were kept waiting for over an hour and decided to leave. We had ten people in our party and we were told that they don't take reservation but we were prepared to wait. What we found unacceptable was the tone and demeanor of the hostess attending to us. After waiting for an hour without any followup from the hostess about our wait or any other reasonable accommodation for such a large party. The hostess responded to our inquiry about a""waiting time"" in a demeaning and confrontational manner. When confronted about her rudeness she scarcatically apologized for ""not know how long it would take for people to eat"". Our question was not about the seated customer but about how much longer we would have to wait.. I guess when the neighorhood crowd fill the hole in the wall there is no need for new customer. Pros: Neighboorhood hole in the wall Cons: service more

OK spot, but no way the best burger 2/12/2008

This place is about 5 blocks from my house, and I finally went there for the first time last night, excited about the best burger in Chicago. I have no idea who else is rating here but the burger was nowhere near the ""best of"" anything, and I am still baffled as to how it made it on the list. The bun got super greasy from the patty which has no flavor whatsoever other than the beef it is made of. Grilled onions were OK, the pickles were repugnant. Pros: Atmosphere, great beer specials, friendly service, haunted! Cons: burgers more

Best Tavern Food Ever 7/22/2007

From it's the juicy, delicious selection of Country Burgers, to the vegetable stuffed South West Chicken wrap, the Barbeque Pork and everything in between, I am always pleased with the qualtiy and tastiness of the Country House's menu. Pros: Mulitple locations, friendly service, delicious food more

I ate there and was very happy. The food was great, and so was the service. Very romantic by the fire place. Plus it has a haunted history, and I love that. Pros: Food, service, and history Cons: crowded more

Country house has by far the best burger in the universe. Simply put: The Best! Pros: Burger more

Nice place for casual food 8/25/2006

This is going to sound crazy but I like this place for the burgers and filet along with atmosphere but the rest of the menu just is plain and does not taste any better than a TV dinner. The place is always crowded dinner and lunch, I just don't get it??? We tried the ostrich and buffalo burger asked for med rare and both dry and well done and we tried them twice. The fish tasted frozen Ms Paul's is better. If you are looking for a bar crowd to catch a game this is the place, nice bartendars and bar specials along with the peanuts that you open eat and throw the shell on the floor. For a dining experience there is far better in the area in my opinion. Pros: Bar, hamburger, filet Cons: Food quality, crowded, noisy more
