Cords, Alan A, Dvm - Gentle Care Animal Hospital

My cat was acting strange for a couple of days and yesterday I was holding him. He began breathing weird and in my heart, I knew he died in my arms. I rushed him to Gentle Care, hoping they could help him. I got there too late. He passed. They confirmed it and I became hysterical in the waiting room. I don't remember their names, but the Doctor, and a couple of other employees comforted me. I said, It's my fault, I shouldve brought him sooner. I was crying hysterically. They were so kind and comforting, saying there was nothing you can do. It's not your fault. They hugged me and comforted me. They were so nice and caring. I had brought my cats there before for shots and was always pleased with the staff. It was so nice how they comforted me. I am devastated by the death of my cat, but the staff at Gentle Care was so comforting and helpful. I highly recommend this vet. more

I've had my dog for 16 years and recently started taking him to Gentle Care Animal Hospital when I moved out east, and he has never been better cared for. Everyone there is always so sweet with him. Dr. Kerry is wonderful, I can't say enough about her and am so grateful for how she takes care of my dog. She's also really patient and helpful with me and all my questions. Nice person, great doctor. Hector and the rest of the staff - also awesome, so helpful and friendly. I'm one of those people who treats their dog like their kid so I know what it's like to want only the best care possible and you'll definitely find that at gentle care. more

I have been a patient of Dr. Alan Cords, Gentle Care Animal Hospital for years. When your pet can not tell you waht is wrong, I guarantee you that Dr. Cords can. His diagnosis and treatment are always correct. His follow up care is amazing, he is genuinely concerned with getting your pet healthy again. The staff are wonderful and compassionate. 1st of all, the staff at this animal hospital were nothing but PROFESSIONAL AND NICE!!!! my vet, dr kerry rafuse was as gentle and careful with my baby boy bobbie(yorkie)....from the minute i walked in till the time i left, it was a very pleasurable and inexpensive visit...dr kerry is a GREAT VET and i would recomend her to anyone who is looking for a new vet or who just moved to lauderdale....nothing but 10 stars if i could give them to dr kerry and gentle care!!!! Hands down, this is the best vet I've ever visited. The office is unique and clean. The office staff is kind, helpful and capable. I had an unbelieveable horrible experience here. I have an 11 month old lab puppy who I brought in for an ear infection. The vet (Dr. Kerry Rafuse) treated my dog and I so poorly. She couldn't put drops in my dog's ear, and proceeded to put a MUZZLE on him! He's a LAB and did not once try to bite. After seeing him suffering, I mentioned that I felt bad for him. She laughed in my face saying I should feel bad for HER, and told me I must not do anything with him at home. She couldn't perform her job, and sarcastically told me ""good luck doing that on your own."" I left in TEARS. Since then, I have successfully put drops in my dog's ear everyday. Gentle Care is a beautiful animal hospital located in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with very personable, caring staff. I agree! My experience how they cared for our Scottish Terrier and especially a Jack Russel/Poodle Mix Puppy (from a rather lousy pet store), who was very ill at the time: they treated our dogs as individuals and gave them the best medical care possible. Gentle Care Animal Hospital is by far the best vet I've ever been to. I'm very particular about where my dog, Taquito, is taken and when I took him to Gentle Care, I knew I was going to the right place. He's been to other vets that are in an out of the room and there's no real care done what-so-ever, but Gentle Care was totally different. They explained the procedure so I wouldn't be nervous (Taquito was getting neutered) then when I called almost 2 hours early, they weren't annoyed at all. Instead the person that answered put me on hold and went to the phone closer to where Taquito was so she could tell him that she was talking to his mom. When I went to pick Taquito up, he was not groggy at all but instead a very happy puppy. The vet, Dr. Kerry, took the time to explain how the procedure went and how to care for Taquito, and told me I was doing a great job in caring for him so far.
