Wonderful Southern Food & Friendly Service 3/8/2012

This is a wonderful treasure that you might drive past and not even notice. It's across from Lipscomb University, in the little strip of stores on Granny White Pike (12th Ave S). Parking can be a challenge at times, but a trick is to park in the gravel lot behind the coin laundry on the end of the development. You can get meat & 3 or a sandwich and I like both. On my last visit, the highlights were the pork chop and fried okra. This food is nearly as good as mom's and mom was a true southern cooking artist. Additionally, the service was excellent, very friendly employees. They have become a favorite of mine and I tell all my friends to give them a try. more

BRUNCH -- PERFECTION 4/17/2011

This place is AMAZING! If you did not rate this 5 stars, you are out of your mind! I would wait 3 hours for this food. They have all you can eat brunch Sunday mornings for $17 (I think?) and my, my, my it is worth every penny. I had strawberry, pecan waffles and some of the best cut steak. Our server was fantastic, very personable. Maybe the only downside is that this location doesnt service alcohol because it is on Lipscombs dry campus-- but after all of this food, it really is not a downside afterall. Please go, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. and if you are anything like me, you will still be talking about it weeks later :) more

Best Restaurant In Nashville... Period. 3/22/2011

Went here for lunch today around 11:15 am, place was already starting to fill up but we still found a seat right away. Service was fast, you just walk through like a standard meat and three, you can also order off a menu board and have it brought to your table. Furnishings/atmosphere was very cool, rustic wood, old time music played at a background volume. They had a great variety for the dessert menu, definitely a good spot to take a lady for coffee and dessert. My particular experience: I had the pecan chicken with the fried okra and mac 'n cheese, with a side of cornbread. RIDICULOUS. Chicken breast was very juicy and the pecan crust was SO good, and it was a very good quality cut of meat. The okra and mac were perfect. I've literally never had better mac 'n cheese in my life. Meat 'n 2 was $7.50, filled me up great (and I'm a pretty big dude). I'm just so impressed with this place. Great service, great food, great atmosphere, new favorite place in all of Nashville (and I've eaten just about everywhere here). more

My new favorite place for Sunday Brunch 2/16/2010

My husband and I tried this place last week for the first time. We both kept talking about how amazing it was throughout the meal and even later that day. They had prime rib, turkey, brie, mozzarella/spinach salad, breakfast foods, vegetables, salad, cheeses and chocolate fondue. It is a wonderful place to take friends or guests from out-of-town. We ran an errand while we were waiting. The place is very small so those waiting must wait outside or in their cars. The meal was worth the one hour wait! Awesome made from scratch food 3/25/2009

Copper Kettle is quickly becoming my new favorite place to eat in Nashville. Their food is fresh and they had a wide selection and menu that changes from day to day. My husband is somewhat of a food snob and isn't easily impressed, and he says their Reuben is the best he's ever had. Their mashed potatoes are incredible. I really haven't eaten anything there that I didn't enjoy. As great as their food is Monday through Friday, Sunday is the best time to go for their brunch. They have a huge buffet of cheeses, salads, meats, desserts and will make an omelet any way you like it. INCREDIBLE food! We go to the new location on Peabody and the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the service is great. Now that warmer weather is coming and they have the patio open, it's going to be even better. I just can't say enough good things about this place. If you haven't been, stop what you're doing and go. Pros: Best Sunday brunch in town more

Can't stop talking about it! 2/26/2009

I recently experienced my first meal at Copper Kettle, and I can't stop talking about it with friends and co-workers. When I walked in and saw that it was cafeteria style service, I didn't expect anything extraordinary. Was I surprised! I got the almond-encrusted fish, fried okra and mac & cheese. The homemade tartar sauce for the fish was so good and flavorful, yet it didn't take away from the crispy, delicious fish. The fried okra had so many seasonings in the batter that worked perfectly together. Most fried okra you get at restaurants is somewhat bland. This wasn't even close to bland or boring. Although it was hard to choose my favorite part of the meal, I have to say the mac and cheese was the winner. It was so creamy, and it tasted as if it included many types of cheeses. My only complaints would be the lack of parking and the winter hours (closed on Saturday). Pros: very casual Cons: lack of parking more

I am a big supporter of any local restaurants. Especially restaurants that create food, service and atmosphere as well as this group. I'm not sure what this last guy on the reviews was talking about, but if Copper Kettle cannot make him happy maybe he should stick with the bland meat and 3 restaurants with soggy okra. Best Sunday brunch in town! 8/29/2008

We bring everyone who visits us to the Copper Kettle for Sunday brunch because you can't miss it! Large spread of fruits, vegetables, breakfast meats & eggs, and wonderful but light desserts. Request made-to-order waffles and omelets from the server - they are both delicious and creative. And they feature the best Eggs Benedict in Nashville. Pros: Fabulous food and excellent service. Plenty of parking across the street on weekends. Cons: Pricey for Sunday brunch - not an every-week place. Can be long lines. more

A big disappointment 8/19/2008

We finally visited Copper Kettle after years of hearing good things about it. While the ambience is inferior even to a Cracker Barrel, the smell was heavenly when we entered the restaurant. Alas, the food did not match the enticing aroma. The meatloaf was mushy and drowned in a bland tomato sauce. The vegetables were only serviceable. The black-eyed peas were salty and the fried okra was a bit too crunchy. The mashed potatoes were palatable, but the green bean casserole was OK. In brief, it was an underwhelming experience (and the prices were higher than Cracker Barrel). We will not return for a second visit. I went to the Copper Kettle for the first time for brunch last Sunday. I was a little surprised to see a brunch was $15.99, but when I saw the huge spread, I was understood the cost. Maybe it was because of the large selection of food, but my meal lacked consistency. Some of the breakfast salads were amazing, as was the hash brown casserole. However, the biscuits were tough on the bottom and the desserts were very disappointing. Copper Kettle, like so many buffets, let that quantity of dessert beat out the quality. They has doughnuts from (what looked like) Krispy Kreme, little tasteless pies, and sub par bread pudding. The last part of my mediocre experience was the service. My waiter was not as attentive as I would've hoped. My drink stayed empty, and he was not very helpful, despite my telling him it was my first time there. Honestly, the way the Cooper Kettle could be amazing would be to knock $2 off their price, lose 30% of their menu and concentrate on what they do well. My favorite restaurant in Nashville 10/2/2006

Other places may have the fancy menus and the ""comfortable seating"", but Copper Kettle more than makes up for it with delicious southern cooking. If you like Meat Loaf, Fried Chicken, Fried Okra, and homemade Mac and Cheese; you will love the Copper Kettle. You aren't going to find filet mignon, but you will find your belly filled at a reasonable price. more

copper kettle extraordinary service and friendliness! 6/25/2006

We arrived slightly after hours to find that the restaurant employs real caring people! We had a group of 10 girls at the university next door that we had promised icecream after an exausting week of worship and fun. The icecream shop had closed a few minutes early so we were left disappointed and wondering how to deliver on our promise to the girls. The manager or owner?of the Copper Kettle (I'm sad to say that we did not ask his name) saw us outside looking sad and asked if he could help us. We told our story of the expectant girls and he went over and beyond what any restaurant operator would normally do... Instead of ""I'm sorry,we're closed"", he went to the freezer and produced a gallon of Bryers Vanilla Bean icecream plus wonderful toppings and gave us a better deal than we could have gotten at the grocery store! The girls were delighted and our promise was fulfilled! Thank you Copper Kettle for your kindness! Pros: wonderful employees! Cons: NA more

SO Glad They're Back! 5/21/2006

Copper Kettle at Granny White is one of the best inexpensive restaurants in Nashville. We love to treat our friends to their gourmet meat & three, delicious salads, creative sandwiches, and amazing Sunday brunch. I almost always order the goat cheese salad with spiced pecans, strawberries, mangoes, and homemade sundried cranberry vinaigrette. It's one of the best salads I've eaten anywhere. It's quick, friendly, inexpensive, and DELICIOUS. So glad their Granny White location is back in business!!! Disappointment! 4/12/2006

I contacted them twice and spoke with them once to get a proposal for my wedding reception and never heard from them again! I've heard great things about their food and selection, but the service was disappointing. I understand they were in the middle of moving back to their original location around the second time I contacted them, but I don't find that an acceptable excuse to not contact people who want to give you business. Sadly, this may keep me from ever trying them again for catering, recommending them, or just a regular restaurant experience. If you don't have customers you don't have a business! I am a huge fan of the Grilled Chicken Salad, in fact I'm such a fan that I have never had anything else on the menu. The Bellevue Copper Kettle was a big disappointment. The vegetables all tasted like they came from a can and the prices of the food was ridiculous. If I got food that was excellent or really good I wouldn't have minded the price but the food was awful. I will not be returning there. Try it..You'll (Love) it! 7/4/2005

I can't wait until they move back to their Granny White Pike location so it will be closer! I still travel to Bellview once a week because it's well worth the drive. The new location is not as charming, but I love the outside patio area. I've never been disappointed with any food choice, all the recipes are well thought out and extremely tasty. NOT IMPRESSED- 6/27/2005

After being excited that the Copper Kettle had come to Bellevue & dining there many times, I find myself NO longer impressed. Why? Because in a short time, the entrees have GONE UP in price (and when I say have ""gone up""- I mean they have almost doubled!!) They all include the salad bar, which means now you pay for a salad whether you want one or not. One thing that has GONE DOWN- the quality of service! Usually we're greeted and seated in a timely manner. Last night, we waved our arms to get someone's attention. AND...No bread with our meal.... I would not recommend the CK (Bellevue) to anyone. I think that they should go back to the way they were originally. By the looks of it the other night, they were surely losing business. I must not be the only one who feels this way. more

Thanks for coming to Bellevue! 5/14/2005

My family and I have eaten several times already at the Copper Kettle in the Bellevue Mall (as well as many other people from the crowds I see in there when we go). Your salad bar is superb and we love your brunch (even though it is a 'bit' pricy; however, during the week, the prices do seem very reasonable for your menu items). But, I always describe the food at the Copper Kettle as being food that was prepared by a 'real' chef, and not just another restaurant cook! Thanks for coming to Bellevue! more
