Editorial review from Citysearch 12/3/2013

Eleven years ago my son-in-law and daughter had to make a choice and we could not help them as we had never buried a child. The minister at the hospital suggested Cook Walden and we are all glad he did. Our precious little one was laid to rest where many others are in a beautiful cemetery, with a huge waterfall, with pennies in the fountain. There angels that were flown in from France. Statues with Bible verses bring us peace. There are remembrances from the lives of the Navy Officers who dedicated their lives to the children and paid for all these things. Then, that saintly couple are laid to rest there at the foot of the cemetery, where they guard the babies. My grandchildren do not call this a cemetery. They call it The Memory Center. I haven't described half of what is there, but this is one place, the only place, that is a true Memory Center. more

1.) The obituary notice was run in the newspaper with Cook Walden website listed for more info. Cook Walden didn't have the viewing or service listed until late in the day - for the same day of services. Family & friends had no access to the info suggested from the Obit notice. Called Cook Walden and was told they had a ""computer glitch"" slowing them down. A ""glitch"" leaves plenty of room for interpretion as, ""we have not got around to it yet - and don't feel any urgency.""\r 2.) Our family was rudely told we were being too loud and interrupting other services at the same time. \r 3.) Don't serve a hot food buffet at a funeral home....(what is left to say about that??)\r 4.) During interment the casket was rolled over everyone else's headstones to get to the gravesite. The funeral procession simply followed in bewilderment at the level of disrepect for deceased individuals.\r more

HORRIFIC 2/7/2011

I attended a grave side service for an infant which was heartbreaking to start with. It was late afternoon and the priest had just finished speaking when I looked up\r only to see two men with shovels approaching the grave site. Upon seeing this the Mother screamed and collapsed. How inconsiderate and unfeeling, I know that it was late in the afternoon and these men had a job to do but couldn't they wait until the family left! No Mother should have to be put through that! It was totally unexcusable and unacceptable. I called Cook Walden Pflugerville's office the following day to complain and was completely blown off, they could have cared less!\r more

Misled by employees and missed the service 3/20/2009

I missed my brother-in-laws service because the front desk employee told me the wrong time and the wrong site. I was sitting at the wrong site with two other friends who had been told the same thing when all of a sudden my sister drove up and asked where we had been that the service was already over. She just happened to run into the right people who were at the right site so she didn't miss the service. Me and my friends walked across the cemetery in time to catch my nephew before he left so at least he knew I tried to make it. Anyway, we went back to the office and tried to tell them what happened and at first they tried to say it wasn't thier fault until I explained to her that the paper she was showing us was not the paper I was shown. She then found the paper I was talking about and realized it was thier fault. she apologized and all but that is not the point. Me and two of the deceased oldest friends missed the entire service due to misinformation from the employees. I hope that if anyone out there is planning on having a gravesite service there, please do not depend on the employees to give you the correct information and have a family member put up a little sign at the correct site or you may never find it. If not for my sister taking the long route out of the cemetery, my friends and I would have sat there all afternoon waiting till the wrong family showed up. Cons: Unknowledgable Employees more

Very Private Cemetery 1/11/2009

Various members of Find A Grave (online) requested photos of loved ones' grave markers in this cemetery but not a one knew where the graves were located. This being a rather large cemetery with several sections, I went in to the cemetery's office to get help on searching for the grave sites. The manager was VERY reluctant to give out this information. Apparently, all their records on where people are buried are still on 3 by 5 cards filed in the back. (Hello? Computers?) Someone from the staff had to go find the cards and write down the locations. I got them to do it for three graves, but it was like pulling teeth. They did not want to look up any more records stating time constraints, staff reductions, and privacy issues. (Privacy issues? The people are dead for christ's sake. Plus, the staff can't stop the public from quietly walking the cemetery and taking photos. I asked. They just won't help you in locating a specific grave.) \r If you want privacy about where you are buried, this is the place. If you want relatives or friends to find your grave at some point in the future, I would skip this cemetery. more

Awaiting repair for damage caused by their mower to my daughter's marker 1/9/2009

Have been waiting for 3 plus weeks to get my daughter's marker repaired after it was damaged by their mower. This was brought to the attention of their maintenance personnel at the time who promised that it would be taken care of quickly, but nothing has been done to date. I wrote them a letter today explaining the problem and I am awaiting their response or action, prior to my pursuing further action. Pros: As a general rule they keep the grounds in fairly good condition Cons: Are extremely slow to react when a problem exists if they react at all more
