Unprofessional attitude and rude behavior 5/20/2011

This is to complain about the way my wife and I were treated by a male either an employee or the Consul at the Lithuania Consulate office in New York He refused to tell me his name and his position. On May 6th 2011, I called the Consul office in New York to check the status of my wife's visa request. First I was put on hold for a long time. Then, when they came back to the line, I asked about the status of my wife's visa and I was told they had not had a chance to work on it and I should check next week. On may 10th, I called back again. This time a female answered the phone. She was polite and put me on hold. A male came back to the line and I asked again for my wife's (Tatsiana Franco) visa status. He said let me check and put me on hold again. When he came back he said there was a missing document. Then I asked him that if there was a missing document and they have our contact information why they do not contact us to let us know instead of me calling again. He was very loud and his tone was demeaning and unprofessional. He said, I do not have to contact you and what I can do is deny your wife's visa. Then I asked him, is this a threat? His answer was very rude and he said yes, I can deny it. Also, she did not include the prepaid envelope to return the passport. I can also have your wife pick it up in New York. He knew we are in California. Then I said, let's focus on the problem and tell me what document is missing. He said, hold on and I was on hold again. When he came back he said, let your wife call us. I do not need to talk to you. I told him, my wife is here and passed the phone to her. He told her, your husband is very rude and I can have you pick up the passport here in New York since you did not send the prepaid envelope. My wife got worried and asked him, ""What document is missing""? He said your marriage certificate. She told him you need that even though we sent a copy of my husband's US passport and it shows we both have the same last name? He then said, he also needed a bank statement and travel insurance in a very rude way with a very bad attitude and after he gave me this information he replied, ""okaaaay"" and he hung up. Anyway we have sent all these documents today. My concern is that other people can be treated this way if no action is taken to change this unprofessional attitude and rude behavior. I will appreciate if you can look into this and please make sure that it does happen to other people and it made my wife and I feel very disrespected and belittled and humiliated. My wife was in total fear of his threats. more
