Consignment Solution

I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. I purchased a barcelona style day bed in June for almost $1400. I was told it was ""real"" leather by the person who works there. They also attached a Design Within Reach page showing the same daybed and wrote on this print out ""compare to the ""original Knoll version"" The print out states that the material used is ""Single Spinneybeck Volo cowhide"" I purchased the day bed in good faith that it was as they stated ""real leather"" I recently scratched the daybed _totally my fault_ and noticed that the material did not look like real leather. I took a picture of it and went to the store. I spoke to the owner who immediately informed me that all sales were FINAL. I understand and accept that UNLESS something is misrepresented or someone is misled. Instead of jumping to conclusions about the item, the owner suggested and recommended a leather specialist to look at it to identify and see if it can be repaired. I agreed and he came and told me that it was ""bonded Leather"" which in his words is inferior to true or ""real"" leather. I agreed to have it repaired which cost $200. I went back to discuss this with the owner who was not in but called me back. I told her what I discovered and she insisted that bonded leather IS ""real"" leather. I told her that the print out said single cowhide leather and that I asked the sales person and was specifically told that it was ""real"" leather. She insisted that bonded leather is real leather. I furniture and consign shop very frequently, any time an item is made of bonded leather it is explicitly stated. The fact that I was told that it was ""real"" and had a comparison sheet with an item that was made of real leather yet my item was bonded, is VERY MISLEADING. I should have been told when I asked that it is ""real bonded leather"" if the fact that it is bonded leather is not a big deal,then why was I not informed. I never expected the owner to accept this item back as a return, but a partial store credit would have been civil because I would never have paid $1400 for a USED, bonded leather piece of furniture. I would have appreciated acknowledgement of the error, and an apology. Instead I got an owner with a very nasty attitude who immediately pointed to the all sales final sign and tried to convince me that bonded leather is ""real"" leather instead of trying to seek an amicable compromise. I will take my business and referrals elsewhere. There are plenty of friendly and pleasant business people out there who still appreciate those who spend their hard earned money to support local business. more

I listed my items for sale on craigslist and got a ton of wierdo's responding, and nobody showed up to see the stuff when they said they would. I decided to contact the consignment store in my neighborhood, but they had more small stuff, didn't really do furniture. They referred me to the consignment solution in lakewood. These people are great to work with. I dropped off my stuff and kind of forgot about it, until at the end of the month I got a check from them for good money. I thought they sold it all, nope, they kept sending me checks for more money each month. They got me a lot more then I thought I would have gotten, and it was a really easy. But I did notice that not all consignmnt shops are like this one. From what I've seen in Dallas, it is the best one. Pros: Easy to consign and good money back more

So glad that I stumbled on to this little gem in Lakewood! It has now become my go to every week place...very addictive. Plenty of furniture and odds and ends, all nicely displayed, and the prices are unbelievable. (Looks like I might have been slow to figure it out, because there is always a crowd here.) It's got a cool funky feel, and everyone seems to be having fun. The sales people are easygoing and so are the shoppers! A nice customer scolded, ""Don't wait, 'cause it won't be here the next time you come in!"" Of course, I didn't listen and I'm still kicking myself. Still, I found a brand new looking leather sofa, an unusual lamp for me and some cool gifts. Take the time to see for yourself. Pros: Lots to see, something for everyone. more

We are furnishing an office, and our style is very modern. We went to Design Within Reach, and asked if they could offer a discount since we are doing an entire office. Basically we were told that if you spend about $20K, then they could offer a 5% discount. A friend recommended we try consignment stores, so we found Consignment Solutions on Skillman in Lakewood. We were very happy to have found a DWR conference table priced at half of what the retail price was, and it looks brand new! It was our one stop shop! We purchased a mid-century modern desk set, a danish modern shelving unit, a Cantoni leather sofa, and a modern glass and steel coffee table for the waiting room. It was an exceptional value, and the furniture is in excellent condition. We were really impressed with their set-up, it was well displayed, they have a good variety, and it's priced right! I definitely recommend shopping consignment, especially here. more

We just relocated to Dallas earlier this year, and had several large pieces that didn't fit in our ""new"" old house. My neighbor highly recommended the local consignment store, Consignment Solution on Skillman. I looked up their website which walked me through the process on how to sell, and after corresponding via email several times, I finally visited the store to deliver our furniture. It has now become one of my favorite stores to shop in! My items that were on consignment sold rather quickly, and the payout was timely. I never write reviews, because you never think to do so when it's been a good experience, we have a tendancy to always focus on the bad ones. That's why I thought it would be a good idea to recommend this consignment store to others, like my neighbor had recommended to me. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, with pricing the items and also putting different styles together. They know how to decorate, that's for sure! But really they do offer such a professionalism that you feel very comfortable selling your stuff. The shop itself is so inviting and the owners and staff have always been super nice and easy to work with, that it feels like a small town shop. They are on a first name basis with most everyone. That's why I think they're a small town shop with big business professionalism. I love this store, once you find it, just be sure to save some for me!!!\r more

As both a customer and a consignor, I have been treated condescendingly and even rudely by the owner. I now take my consigned items to other consignment stores. more

I have sold/purchased many items at the Consignment Solution, and I am extremely impressed with their operation. I received more money back for my sold items than I had anticipated, so I was pleasantly suprised. Of course, I then ended up using some of that money to apply to another purchase from there. (They get in so many unusual pieces, I couldn't resist, it was like free money!) They've always displayed their store so nicely, I appreciate how quickly and efficiently they sold my furniture. Since I am a Lakewood resident, I frequently stop in, since the store changes so often with new inventory. They've always been friendly and helpful to me, so I was suprised to see the other review. However, I work in retail myself, so I know full well that there are just some people that you can't appease. I can tell you that the store is always immaculate, the condition of the furniture is excellent-mint, so I'm not sure what the other reviewer was referring to. In fact, I shop many consignment stores, and I think they display their merchandise the best. It really is well presented. With that said, I highly recommend the Consignment Solution on Skillman for selling and/or buying. more

Custmer service is awful-I am a long term,HANDICAPPED customer,but have NEVER been treated like the owner treated me yesterday-the items they sell have gone way down-I have gotten rid of all but 1 table and 1 lamp. more
