You're dreaming if you think he's going to finish and really going to be disappointed if you think he's going to do what the contract says. Be aware that he will definitely ask for more money, more than once. He contract with us a few years back and understood we needed everything done in two months - tops. He absolutely promised it would only take a month. Then he didn't show up and when he did actually show, didn't do much work. What he did was lousy, and then he wanted more money to continue. Just like the others here, I have had my driveway and yard ruined by Phllip McClellan. He lied to me from start to finish about when he was going to show up and when the job was going to be done. Left equipment on my property for weeks at a time. Said it would take three days, it took a month, and then what a mess, I wish he never finished it. His unmaintained equipment broke down on the job, contaminating both the new driveway and the yard with oil, neither of which has been corrected. Why this man isn't in jail yet is beyond me. He cannot be trusted to do what he says he will do. And he insists on being paid in cash (another red-flag). He is a con man with a contractor's license. Phil McClellan has scammed yet another person. Check out his reviews at the Department of Consumer Protection. There are so many complaints that mine will be a drop in the bucket when I send it in. I had a terrible experience with this contractor. Come to find out, this contractor has been taken to court over 50 times. He is in poor standing with a respected business bureau. He has numerous complaints against him with the State of Connecticut and is under investigation. He has had his license taken away once before years ago. He was also on the news for scam busters because he is known to take advantage of the elderly. Worst workmanship I have ever seen. When I told him that he needed to fix his poor work he yelled and bullied me. He wrote in a new contract that he would fix the work and he never did. By talking to many other contractors, I found out that he has a terrible reputation and has cost many people thousands of dollars. Do your homework. Look up all complaints with the State of Connecticut. I wish I had before he ruined my driveway and yard. This contractor goes by a few different names: Community Backhoe Service, CBS Paving, Community Excavation Service, and CBS Community Backhoe Service. He also uses different addresses so be careful.
