I have been going to Comfort Zone for over 2 years now and have had the best experience every single time! I went to Benjamin based on a recommendation from a friend and he is absolutely wonderful! Benjamin is very honest about what works and looks best on you, he is not trying to just get you to spend money. He is an artist with color and style and the icing on top is how affordable the salon is. I love my hair each time and have never had a bad experience. I would absolutely recommend going to Comfort Zone and recommend Benjamin! more

I started going to Comfort Zone for my hair cut & color 4 years ago, and I will continue going as long as I can! Benjamin does a perfect job with my hair color. When Benjamin isn't there, I ask for Michael, who is also great. It is perfectly natural and he does a great haircut as well! I feel very comfortable and relaxed when I go there, and the price point is good as well. They truly live up to their name as the ultimate Comfort Zone. more

I have been going to Ben for 10 years. Noone, I mean noone in New York City does blonde highlights like he does. He is an artist- and a gifted colorist. Ben has the ability to take a bland blonde and turn her into a bright, shiny, gorgeous, natural looking blonde...and for a reasonable price. He asks how is worked out for you last time, and listens. Ben is the best - I had long, straight boring hair for so many years but through some highlights and a great, swingy, trendy-but-not-too-high-maintenance cut, transformed my entire look. I love, love, LOVE the color - it's subtle and very springy, and the cut couldn't be easier - it's wash and wear, glamorous without blow-drying and wearable without pulling back. The best part is, the whole process was done with frequent consultation, asking me if I was comfortable with all portions of the color/cut. Ben really takes quality time to make sure his clients are satisfied, and throughout pays meticulous attention to detail. The staff at the salon couldn't be friendlier, overall great experience - I'm definitely making this my regular salon. Thanks Comfort Zone! more

When I moved to Manhattan in April 2006 I was very anxious about finding a new hairstlyist and colorist. I had been going to the same hairstylist and colorist for over 15 years and even followed her from Forest Hills to Long Island. Once I was in Manhattan the commute was not possible. I tried many salons and then found Comfort Zone just a few blocks from where I live. My stylist and colorist Michael is terrific and even better than my previous stylist and colorist, something I never thought would be possible. He always does my hair exactly as I request and I get compliments wherever I go. People always (even the makeup consultants at Bloomingdales) stop to comment on how terrific my hair looks. Even several days after Michael styled and colored my hair it still looks like I just had it done!!! I go twice a week to have my hair blown out and each time I am ecstatic how terrific it looks. My color is always how I want it to look. Michael always takes time to talk to me in detail before coloring or cuttinng my hair. The two shampoo girls are also great. They are both very attentive and professional. The atmosphere in Comfort Zone is the best around bar none. It is always a very pleasant experience and the clients are all very friendly which is also rare in most Manhattan salons. I think the reason for that is that Michael is so friendly and easy to talk to which makes his clients feel at ease and comfortable talking to each other. THIS IS THE SALON TO GO TO ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE AND MICHEAL IS THE BEST STLYLIST AND COLORIST. YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE HIM DO YOUR HAIR. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE. more

I work in a client based field. I have been somewhat loyal to Benjamin at Comfort Zone for a few years now. Every now and then I 'cheap out' and try and find some other place to do my highlights or haircut-I have to admit time and time again I have gone RUNNING BACK TO BENJAMIN at Comfort Zone, making apologies for my disloyalty! I decided this last time that enough is enough! I will not go to anyone else to do my highlights! Benjamin is the best colorist I've been to in NYC and he has the best prices around. I have been going to Comfort Zone for a little over a year now, and really can't say enough good things about the salon and my experience! Benjamin is an amazing colorist and stylist, and the pricing is very decent. They carry great products, as well. The salon also did hair for my wedding party a few months ago, and everyone was really pleased. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and not stuffy or stuck up at all. You will not be disappointed! more

I've been a loyal customer at Comfort Zone for as long as it's been in business. Now I have to ""commute"" to see my stylist, Benjamin - having moved out of the neighborhood - but it is well worth it! At Comfort Zone, I get personal treatment - from the friendly hair washing staff to the absolutely perfect color care to the expert cuts. I have always been thrilled with the results. Not to mention that the atmosphere is consistently warm and inviting, and with all the attractive clients coming through, the only thing missing is a bar! Comfort Zone is not like other ""hair factories"" that are all about customer churn and not individualized experiences - Comfort Zone is truly a special place - like a speakeasy for hair. I therefore HIGHLY recommend Comfort Zone. more

The reviews must have been tampered with! By far the worst salon I have ever been too! I feel as if giving it one star is too much. So where do I begin? Ok well first off I find it completely irritating that they all spoke Russian. It made me really uncomfortable because I felt as if they were talking about me because they were just speaking English two seconds ago and now giggling speaking in Russian. Gee thanks guys for making me feel so ""comfortable"". Any who the stylist I saw Ben is so full of himself and his weak highlights. Not to mention a complete pervert. I originally came in for a simply layered hair cut and blow out but I ended up leaving with highlights I didn't want. The layers were uneven and too straight looking. He basically forced the highlights upon me and then tried to sell me some over priced oil that I can use on my body as well...are you kidding? The salon itself is very small and there is no air-conditioning. Once again very ""comfortable"". The staff other than him is very welcoming. I felt cheated and wont ever go back! more

After trying several salons and spending hundreds of dollars, I went to the Comfort Zone. They are concerned with giving you exactly what you want at the right price. My hair has never looked better. They are friendly, fast, and treat everyone like a valuable customer no matter what you are buying. Ben has been doing my hair for the past year and it looks amazing! I've referred several clients and they all love it. This place is highly recommended!! more

I have never had a better salon experience - everyone was friendly, not to mention they did a wonderful job on my hair. It's difficult to find a good salon in the city that you feel confomrtable with, but this is definitely a place to continue to go to. more

As soon as I met Benjamin I instantly felt comfortable... he has no ""attitude like many hair dressers in NY and he really knows what he is talking about with hair. He took his time and the cost was totally reasonable. I will definitely be going back to see him in a few months. He listens to what your ideas are about hair the whole time and doesn't just do what he wants. I think anyone that wants a hairdresser that loves coloring/cutting hair and knows what they're doing without the attitude should run not walk to see Benjamin.\r \r more

i was in the neighborhood working and had a great wash and cut by 2 charming ukranian ladies. this was my second time there and i have to say happy to go out of my way for another cut soon. I had black hair prior to seeing Benjamin and now my hair is a honey blonde. The improvement was extraordinary and Benjamin was able to choose the shade that would best compliment my features. He is also talented when it comes to cutting hair.\r He is always friendly and confident while maintaining professionalism toward his craft with obvious talent. Comfort Zone has a down to earth atmosphere where everyone is always warm and friendly. Over the years I have developed friendships with a few hair stylists there. After searching all over the city for a salon that I could be comfortable at, I found it in Comfort Zone. They deliver on the name with friendly service and great haircuts. Daniel is my stylist and not only is he a nice guy, but his cuts live up to my very high standards for my hair. I would recommend this place to anyone. Never fails every time I go in to get my hair done someone stops me on the street, subway, bar or even Duane Read to ask me out! I'm so lucky to have found this salon and Benjamin. I've got dark curly unruly hair that I like to wear both curly and straight depending on my mood but it's so hard to find a good cut for both styles. That's why Benjamin is the best, he knows curly hair and gives me the best cut I've ever had each time I go in. I went in about a year ago for a cut, and then started getting highlights now I?m a blond. I?ve gotten so many compliments on my hair from co-works, friends, family and even strangers on the street. My new roommate even thinks I?m a natural blond! Hands down Benjamin is the best Colorist on the island. The whole staff at The Comfort Zone is great. I?ve always gotten superb service and attention from everyone; they are all very helpful and hilarious. I always leave feeling like a movie star. more

So they tried to tell me that a ""single process"" means they just put color on the roots. then when we finally agreed upon what was being done with my hair they brought out a color swatch book. i chose a medium brown...my hair came out bright red!!! then they told me that to fix it they need to put highlights in my hair. for another $100. when I said no, they told me to give it time, and eventually I would like my hair.\r \r stay away!!!!!\r \r ps I have two other co-workers that went there....both regreted it as well. I don't post reviews that often but read a review from a disgruntled customer who obviously has a vendetta against someone, so I thought I'd share my experience. I've been here at least 15 times and consistently get treated with respect and great service - not to mention, a great haircut each time I'm there, and I have to say that every time I walk in I see other customers smiling and they seem to have a very loyal following. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try...I get my haircut by Daniel most often, but have had three others cut my hair and they were all very competent.
