We had our carpets cleaned on a Friday at noon. They were squishy wet when the technician left, so we turned the ceiling fans on high and opened all the windows. The carpets were still so wet by 8 p.m. that we couldn't move the furniture back. We used floor fans overnight to try to dry them out. By Saturday night most of the rooms were finally beginning to dry (still damp in places) but the master bedroom was still wet and starting to smell. We continuted with the floor fans and slept with the windows open. By Sunday night, there were parts of the master bedroom carpet that were STILL damp after 3 days! And the smell was much worse (we could smell it from other rooms in the hosue), so I called Coit. They promised to have someone call me at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning. They did NOT call as promised, so I called them again. They sent out a different technician who told me the carpets couldn't possibly have been that wet--that they should have been dry within 4 hours. The six adults and 2 children who live in this house can testify that they were indeed that wet! Then he started making excuses for the smell--that my plumbing was leaking (which it wasn't), or that it was the dog (then why didn't the other older carpets smell, only the one that stayed wettest the longest?) Finally he offered to re-clean the master bedroom and use a deoderizer. This time the carpet did dry out in 4 hours, which tells me that the first tech did something very wrong. Did he forget to flip the switch that sucks the water back up, and if so, is all that dirty water still in my other carpets? Coit has not answered those questions. This is THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in 35 years of having my carpets cleaned. The Coit ad states they guarrantee satisfation, but they did very little to correct what was obviously their mistake. I will never use them again or recommend them. I let the carpet company who recommended them to us know as well. Dana Shurtz
