Criminally bad 6/18/2011

I went there for an eye exam. When I did not buy a pair of glasses, they refused to provide me with my full prescription. I informed them that it is ilegal under HIPPA to fail to provide a customer with his or her medical records as they are the customer's property. The employees refused to provide their full names so that I could not file a complaint with any agency. I did call back and got the name of Yenette, the woman who refused to provide me with her name. more

TERRIBLE!! DO NOT GO HERE, THEY ARE CHEATS! 5/3/2011

I wish read these reviews before I went - this is hands down the WORST customer service I have ever received. I went in to this location for an eye exam and to order a years worth of contacts. I have ordered my contacts from Cohen's for the past few years, but have never been to this location. When I paid for the contacts, I questioned the price as it was almost double the cost from the previous year. The sale associate informed me that the prices had gone up, and I believed her. However, I looked online and found the same contact for HALF of what I paid. I called another Cohen's in the city, and they quoted me the same, cheaper price! I called this location where I purchased the contacts and the woman who answered the phone told me it was 10 minutes until they closed, she didn't have time to help me and I needed to call back tomorrow and then HUNG UP on me. I went in the next day to speak to someone, assuming this was all mistake. There were no sales associates on the floor (they had all gone to lunch at the same time) and the poor, very sweet, eye doctor had to help me. An associate came back from lunch, and told me I needed to come in the next day because the manager was not in. I went back the next day (this is now the 5th time I have to go there) and I explained the situation. The manager called another location and told me their price is $500 - which is still $140 less than what I paid - but apparently that does not include the eye exam. The same eye exam that I was told was FREE for purchasing a years worth of contacts. Apparently an eye exam costs $140 at this location. She explained that this particular location is a franchise, and the store I spoke with (that is a mile way in midtown) is a ""corporate store"". The ""corporate stores"" price match whatever 1.800.contacts is offering, but the franchises do not. And apparently they do not even price match other Cohen's locations in the city! They begrudgingly offered me a free pair of eyeglasses from their horrible selection as compensation - which is the promotion they were running anyway - or a credit towards a future purchase at their location. No thank you! The manager just turned her back on me and waved me out the store, telling me she would call me. Doubtful. These people are sleezy crooks! Go to the Cohen's on 59th and Lex and pay half of the price! more

REALLY REALLY THE WORST!!!! 1/23/2011

The sales people are so sleezy you feel like you're scoring drugs. It's obvious from the way they treat you that you are being ripped off and they know it and indeed you are. The prices are out of sight but the quality is total trash. I paid $700 for a pair of glasses and had to go back and have them refitted 3 times. I left the country on a 6 month job a few weeks later and within the month the variable sun tint coating began to peel off, unfortunately only on one side. The noseclips also immediately became uncomfortable. They are impossible to wear. If I were in New York I would take them to Small Claims Court. Total crooks. more

THE WORST!!!! 9/29/2010

Not only was it a somewhat dingy place, but the sales people swarmed on me like I was their last meal.\r \r I ordered my glasses in July of this year. It is now October as of tomorrow. I have seen the doctor three times, and still they can't get the prescription right. I have spent over $1100 on my progresives top of the line and I still can't use them to walk down the street or even see properly. Though progresives have been the only glasses I have ever worn, they keep telling me I need to get use to them. I have brought them back for adjustments so many times I have lost count and still I can't use them to see. \r \r The worst part is that the same people who were soooooooooo nice when I was placing the order, are now avoiding my phone calls and using language that makes me seem like the one at fault.\r \r Beware - THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT OR THEIR WORKMANSHIP, THEY DO NOT COURT CUSTOMER ALIGIANCE, THEY DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED - even in a case like mine where after two months, they have yet to get even the prescription right. That's why I have seen the doctor THREE (3) times.\r \r GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM HERE!!!! more

Zero Stars! Worst glasses experience ever! 7/30/2008

I went into this Cohen's becausethey boast ""all vision plans accepted."" I should have stayed home and went to a real eye doctor or even lens crafters, hell even a small botique place would been cheaper. The doctor who did the eye exam was very professional, she is the only bright spot in the whole operation. First off I was told that if I wanted to use my insurance, I'd have to get the whole package done there, not true they are required by law to give you your prescription after the eye exam. Secondly when I did decide to get frames there I was only show over priced non designer frames. At one point they were trying to convince me that I needed to get modern frames, by the way the frames that they wanted me to get were Buddy Holly style. Retro yes, Modern no. I almost got strong armed into these bobo no name frame package until I found out it would have cost over $600 dollars. When I said I didnt want the frames I was then shown ""cheaper frames.""\r \r These were in the form of Dockers which I ended up taking, but when I paid for them they didnt give me an itemized bill. I had to request this when I came back to get the glasses. One would think eyeglasses costing $408 would warrant an itemized bill? I thought this price was a little high but I was in a bind I needed glasses for an important work related event. I had the glasses a few days and they made me dizzy as the prescription was too high. Luckily the eye doctor lowered the prescription, no problem.\r \r After getting the itemized bill I thought $209 dollars for Dockers frames was kind of high. I could understand for perhaps DKNY or something. So I decided to look around and found several places with the same frames retailing for $136. I called the store to inquire about the huge markup up and after the manger continuously cut me off and accused the other retailers of immoral business practices, she hung up on me and then didnt pick up the phone after I called back! Shame on you Allison.\r \r Pros: Eye exam doctor professional Cons: Everything else more
