Best

this bar reminds me of new york, it's a dark place with beautiful wood decor. During the week, Coda acts as a sports bar/ lounge, it's a nice casual place for locals to have a co...

Best Birthday 11/3/2005

I had my birthday here a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. Definitely one of my most enjoyable birthdays. The music was amazing, the staff was great, very helpful and the bartenders made some seriously good drinks. I'll be back often and can't wait to have my birthday there again next year. By far the best place in the Valley. more

poor poor place, just drive to hollywood 9/27/2005

Went there expecting something fun, we had such a terrible time. Bar was empty, drinks were weak. It was a shame we had a birthday there. Pros: none Cons: empty, weak drinks, bad music more

Thank God there is a place in the valley that you can count on for a loungy bar on the weeknights and some crazee dancing on the weekends when you just can't muster the engery to jaunt over the hill. The vibe is chill and there's plenty of well-lit parking on the streets. I have had two birthday parties and a bachlorette party here. We took over the main banquette and the staff was great in serving us through the crowd all night. The drinks are strong, the music is ecclectic and the crowd is a really interesting mix of ages, races and styles- I like that. It feels real- feels like New York. My only complaint is the heat in the summertime- that dance floor can feel like a sauna. Pros: Music, Lounging, Clientele Cons: Hot more

The worst! 6/11/2005

I can't believe I'm readying that people actually LIKE this place! It use to be a very fun, comfortable and hip bar to go before it's "extreme make over" into CODA and now it's a pretentious, Sunset Strip wannabe hole in the wall. Don't waste your money on this place. I have yet to hear from any other Sherman Oaks/Studio City local in the 21-35 age group that wants to keep it around and last I checked we were the ones that usually make or break a club. Pros: none, none, NONE! Cons: bartenders, prices, atmosphere more

I have been going to Coda for years and it never disappoints. Whether we want to go to a chill place for a drink and conversation or if we are in the mood for dancing and partying, this is the place to be!!! The staff is great and friendly. Anyone who complains about this place, probably doesnt belong there! My friends and I love it and will continue to go back! Pros: staff, music, drinks Cons: none more

The door guy was cool, the bartenders were friendly and cool, the owner greeted and checked on me and my party. This place looked like a Hollywood bar, but it was so hard to find! There was great energy the night me and my friends went- upscale bar with a laid back vibe!!! Music was great all night and everybody was dancing!! I'll be going back plenty!! Have a party there!! They really take care of you and there's no extra charge or bull---- to deal with! You don't find bars like this in L.A.!!!! more

Don't go here to club 4/23/2005

Inside, the service and atmosphere was nice, but outside is a different story. The bouncers here are more pretentious and annoying than your run-of-the mill bouncers. People were leaving in droves and there was still a line of people outside who had been waiting for at least half an hour. One bouncer refused to give an estimate on how long they would be waiting, but as soon as the person asking for an estimate left the line to go home (who had asked rather courteously), he let in some people, announcing that that should be a "lesson in patience" to all those in line. The wise bouncer teaching the paying customers a lesson. That's rich. I'm glad the guy left though, it wasn't worth the wait to be treated like less than a human being. My friends and I (and our money) will most definitely not be returning. Pros: Atmosphere, Parking Cons: Bouncers, Cover, Expensive more

I'll Be Back 4/23/2005

I went Coda for the first time tonight and I liked it. The place was really small and it kinda felt like I was at someones living room. But the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. I had three cocktails and the total was $21.00 plus $5 cover. The music is supposedly mixed, but tonight, they were playing too many reggae songs which I really dont like. I wished they played more top 40 and hip-hop. Also, the place got a bit too warm so I wished they turned the a/c more. Oh, and ladies, if you have to use the restroom, get there earlier because youll wait in line for awhile. But overall, it may not an exceptional place but I liked there better than going to a club on Sunset. It was closer (I live in Studio City), cheaper, and cozier. I will go back there again. more

Attractive women, reasonably priced (strong!!!) drinks, good music, friendly (She was cute too!) bartenders, no Hollywood drama, and central location in the Valley. What more could you ask for? This place rocks and I will definitely go there again...good job CODA! p.s. - for those who dont know, a CODA is the closing section of a musical composition and the last Led Zeppelin album...a fitting name for a great bar! Pros: Great Music, Beautiful People, Strong Drinks more

A great bar in the valley for $5?? No problem!! They only charge after 10 and it helps to keep the rif-raf out, an absolut must in the valley!!! Go to Hollywood and it will cost $10 to park and $20 to get in!! I've been going to Coda for months and have never seen a price increase. The quality is better at Coda and is on our doorstep. My friends and I will continue to support this bar because they do it right!! Great music, staff, and vibe. INSIDE INFO: Ask a manager about a membership card and maybe you can bypass the cover all together! Pros: Great music, Reasonable pricing more

On July 3rd I celebrated my B-day at CODA. The atmosphere was very laid back and the DJ was off the chain! Coda isn't Hollywood...no guest list. The Bartenders and the service was excellent. I enjoyed myself as well as my guests. If you want to have an awesome time and still have a little money in your pocket, CODA is the club! Pros: No Cover, Atmosphere & DJ, Customer Service more

This is the only spot over the hill to go.. these guys have a bar/club that rivals any in Hollywood... and if you're coming from the valley there's hardly a drive... No Hollywood attitude at the door and better music than any club I've been too..If you live anywhere in the Valley west of Studio City and don't check this place out instead of going over the hill, forget about it!! Pros: No Cover, Easy parking, Best Music more
