Don't go there. 9/14/2006

I've eaten at fine dining establishments locally and around the world, and must say that MM is forgettable and truly mediocre at best. Yes, I get that he's a celebrity chef with a multitude of cool places, but for me, it must boil down to delicious food, wonderful service and a memorable overall experience. What we experienced was so-so food (not even close to what you'd expect in a place like this), pretty good service, and the memory of being floored by the $530 check (for 2). Well, don't get me wrong - I'll spend money on food like no one's business - but if I'm shelling out that kind of dough, I'd better leave pining for the chance to return as soon as I can. I left wanting to run for the hills. Anyway, we each did a 3-course prix fixe menu and it went like this: can't recall what I had to start (not a good sign that I can't recall and it was 2 weeks ago), fiance had black mussel moose that was B/B+; miso marinated black cod was so salty I was in a permanent pucker for the next 24 hours, fiance had osso bucco that was quite the opposite (tender but bland); dessert course for each of us was so run-of-the-mill. The waitstaff was cordial and attentive - though didn't seem to care about your dining experience - and overall atmosphere was nice, but this is hardly enough to creative a memory that I'd want to keep. Honestly, I'm happy that we went so that we won't ever need to return. Don't waste your time, stomach or money here. more

not what i expected for this type of restaurant. the food was creatively prepared but the hot and cold was over played. for two people the tab was nearly 400 which is fine since we did the tasting menu but the service was bad. the servers were not attentive and i was somewhat disappointed with the floor layout. it appears grander from the lobby but quite small once seated. glad i went but wouldn't go again. more
