Clay County is not maintaining the drainage ditch along my fence line where storm water from the entire street drains. Despite calls to the Public Works department and being told...

Clay County Public Works Sucks 3/31/2011

3/29 Called and spoke w/ Carol about the drainage problem in the ditch behind my property at 2:31 pm 3/30 a completely separate department the Clay County Misquito Control called and left me a voice mail to let me know he went out to inspect the misquito issue 3/31 returned the gentlemans telephone call, and he let me know that he set a trap today & we will probably be one of the first treatments in Clay County. He let me know I can call every 2 weeks for a chemical treatment for mosquitos even though they don't like to spray in bodies of water that contain FISH and wild life like dragon flies. He informed me that he set a trap to see how many mosquitos he could catch. He recommended that I follow up with Public Works to make sure that there is even a work order for the drainage problem as he couldn't even navigate the easement even with his four wheeler. He told me that he will add a recommendation for maintenance to the ditch within his report for the end of the day. 3/31Called Public Works and spoke with Barbara who was very short with me and the tone she used let me know that she was disgusted with my call. Barbara informed me that a ""Sanja"" or ""Sondra"" put in a work order for maintenance on 3/30 so it's still in progress. All in all my major complaint SO far is this Barbara lady who obviously shouldn't be working with the public even if it is through the telephone. more

Public Works Doesn't Work 3/8/2010

I have tried for months, and made another call this morning, to get my road, (which is covered with potholes that span a good ten to fifteen feet), taken care of. Yet, I still have seen not a single crew member so much as looking at the damage. I even explained to them, many times, that people are actually driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid this stretch of damage. Pros: They answer the telephone. Cons: All they do is answer the telephone. more

Losing ground to Clay County 8/14/2009

Clay County is not maintaining the drainage ditch along my fence line where storm water from the entire street drains. Despite calls to the Public Works department and being told they would clean out the ditch, nothing in fact has been done and I now have fences under water and have actually lost soil and have exposed tree roots! Angry in Middleburg! more
