The best 7/3/2011

I have been taking my pets to City Vet Uptown for 8 years now. Not only do they always want my pets health to be the best, but they always take the time to educate me and my family. Every question is answered, and most of the time, the answers come before I even ask the question! The Dog Loft staff knows all of my pets by name, and I know they are treating them as if they were their own. The pricing is very reasonable. I see alot of reviews that it is too expensive! But, have you called around to other Vets vefore you make that statement? And, how much do you pay without insurance when you go to the Dr.? It is odd to me that people think everything should be free or discounted because they are caring for animals.Or, that a pets health is so different than their own. I have seen every doctor there and they all have wowed me at how much they really care for my pets. I will definetly keep going here. I know that no place is perfect, but nothing that I see or that has been done is so detrimental that I would not want my pets to not continue to have what is clearly the best care possible. And if there ever has been an issues, the staff is always very eager to make everything right. I love them! more

My Girls 1/18/2011

We arrived over from the u.k. last October. When I first arrived at the Dog Loft I was taken aback as the staff were dressed as dogs, for halloween obviously. This seemed a bit strange to us!!! As we have no family or friends here in Dallas there was no alternative but to book the 2 dogs in, but at the time I did have reservations. Back home we have always had friends & family who dog sat for us. We had to go back to Ireland as our daughter was graduating so we took them to the Dog Loft on the alotted day, and I cannot lie - I was worried about leaving them so soon after arriving here from the UK. more

Don't even bother the calling the Uptown location 3/3/2010

A co-worker of mine uses this place for the daycare. She has one of the employees as a friend of her's on Facebook and had nothing but great things to say about the prices, facility, staff members, ect. I recently adopted my ex boyfriend's lab mix and called yesterday to get some prices. I should have just emailed the girl my co-worker knows because the girl that answered the phone, Gwyneth, gave me the go around for probably 20 minutes. My friend told me the place was always packed on Monday's so I thought waiting to call mid-day on a Tuesday was a pretty good to call. The girl answered and sounded miserable. The more questions I asked, the more she kept stuttering. What should have been a pretty basic 5-6 minute conversation lasted me I kid you not 20 minutes. I tried not to let this be the defining factor but when I asked if I could take a tour I was told no. No reason, just a flat out no. I hung up and told my co-worker who in turn sent an email to the girl she knows. 5 minutes later the girl emails us back, apologizes and says that if I want to come by around lunch on Thursday or Saturday she'd walk us through the place herself. I'm not normally one to get on these forums and complain, but how did I get all my questions answered in 5 minutes via email but the person on the phone had to take 20 minutes? I've heard from other friends and neighbors in the area that the place has a great business plan, but it's either something with the doctors or staff members. Dogs come back filthy, the prices are unreasonable, and the staff seems incompetent. The only reason why my neighbor took his dog there despite being the on the losing end of several dog fights ( they tell you it's closely ""supervised"" Michael Vick might as well be on the payroll) was because the same girl my co-worker knows pulled some strings and got him some free services, but also the dog seems to genuinely like this person. I'm still not sold about taking my pet, but hopefully this girl is all that I'm told. Would you rather pay for the business or the customer service? Pros: My friends enjoy the service Cons: EVERYTHING more

Great company, great ownership 2/1/2010

I can only speak for my experience with the ownership and say that these people are passionate about what they do and that is hard to find. Dr. Chip Cannon is a man of integrity who truly cares about his clients and employees. They may be perceived as a little expensive but the statement that ""you get what you pay for"" is especially true when it comes to healthcare. Would you go get surgery from someone who says that they are the cheapest around? Not me. Pros: Great people, clean well managed facilities Cons: Can be on the expensive side. more

Anywhere but CItyVet! Don't take your pet! 1/7/2010

The first time I took my dog to city vet was immediately after adopting him... I took the dog to CIty Vet to get a check up and his vaccination shots -they told me to come back after 2 weeks for the booster shots and to get him neutered. The day before the next appointment (2 weeks later), I received a letter and a call from City Vet telling me that the SHOTS they had given my dog 2 WEEKS EARLIER were EXPIRED! City Vet went on by telling me that they needed to be re-injected! (BTW, the tone of their announcement through it all was as if it was something that happens all the time... ""oh yeah, we'll just gove him the shots again.. and their is no harm"") The absurd part of their little script was to let me know that I wouldn't have to pay for the new set of shots!! WOW WOW... I was so revealed and thankful that I am not dropping another $400 for City Vet's mistake... I was so happy that I screamed at them that they are lucky I am not suing them! At the very least, the shots make the dog feel sleepy and dizzy and sore... Luckily he didn't die from it.. because guess what? The expiration date is there for a reason... I hope Dr. Cannon drinks a bottle of Milk that's been opened and sitting in the kitchen for a year and see how he takes it! Worst of all was that it to them 2 weeks to find out the mess they had caused!! The fact is that the incompetence from all ends should gove enough for the Vetinary Board to shut the place down and revoke every license in that mess that they call ""City Vet"". No to mention the unfriendly and psychotic ""Moni"" who answers the phone and can't figure out how to send an email and intentionally pi**** off clients carelessly.. Actually, she is helping me in sending the message about what a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE CITY VET IS and WARN PEOPLE NOT TO GO TO ANY OF THE CITY VETS IN DALLAS OR ANY OF IT""S AFFILIATED BUSINESSES! Pros: Other vets Cons: too expensive. no real checkup. incompetence. no service. more

City Vet is really Wonderful! 7/17/2008

After going to several vets in Dallas, I finally settled on City Vet and I have been very happy with the service I have received. The day care is very reasonably priced, and you can even look at their webcams to check in on your pets throughout the day. They really do give the pets individual attention...for example, I don't go there frequently but whenever I go to pick my dogs up everyone who works there knows the names of all the dogs staying there. Unlike the other review, I have never been pressured to buy products from City Vet...I have even been told that it wasn't necessary (when my dog was put on medication I was told I didn't need to buy the pill pockets and I could just stick them in some peanut butter or cheese instead). I like to board my dogs together and they offer bigger rooms for that purpose where they can be more separated from the other dogs at night and even give me 25% off one dog when I board them in the same room. Pros: webcam, vets are caring, convenience Cons: the records sometimes get lost when switching back and forth between the two locations more

Not so great 6/11/2008

I've been to City Vet many times and stopped taking my animals there. The vets really are condescending and I take very good care of my animals with regular shots and check-ups not to mention exercise and attention. The staff still seemed to find a way to try to make me feel bad for not buying their food and other products. I'm also a graduate student with not much money, so I pay attention to prices although I'm definitely not ""cheap"" as the last person commented (organic food, regular daycares, etc.). City Vet does have higher prices than my current vet and I'm now actually receiving better, more caring service. Also, I've never boarded my dog there but I have at 2 other places in Dallas and my dog has never had any of the problems I've read about on other reviews of City Vet as well (scratches, very skinny although most food is gone, etc.), and she's a VERY sensitive dog who was starved and abused before she was rescued. Before taking your animal here, please read some reviews on other sites; you'll be surprised at how many are bad. Pros: Location and nice building Cons: Just about everything else more

City Vet is the best 7/17/2007

I have had nothing but great experiences with City Vet. Dr. Tate and Dr. Murphy are excellent doctors who care for the pets more so than most owners do. The staff are well trained and well spoken. I have been in the lobby when the employees have to deal with ignorant, irate clients such as the one who left that horrible comment. From what I have learned from the staff, it is unlikely and near impossible for a pets nails to have been like that for several days straight. Also, when pets board they often get stressed from the change of environment and won't eat. I know the staff closely monitors the pets to make certain that they are eating. I myself was concerned about my dog losing a few pounds. He loves going to daycare! City Vet is ""expensive"" to only those who want to be cheap with their pets. I find it to be much more cost effective than other places. City Vet has my support! Pros: Great staff, great prices Cons: Rude clients more

Do not leave your pet here!!! 7/7/2007

Do not go to these people. they are an inexperienced hack staff, who are rude and don't know what they are doing. We had my cats claws removed and they forgot to take out the catheter. Now, because we were in a bind, we left our dog there for a simple boarding, grooming, and nail trimming and he has been bleeding for 2 days because they cut his nails too short. It was also like he never ate, slept, or went to the bathroom while he was there. if you love your pet don't take them there. find a better place. From the experience we have had, Petsmart seems like a better choice. its sad when you have to take the lesser of two evils when caring for a loved one. Cons: inexperienced, rude staff who dont know what they are doing or care; expensive more
