Dishonest brokers 5/8/2010

Their broker did not disclose information about the management company's laxity in maintaining the building that would have clearly made the apartment unacceptable, though it turned out she was well aware of how problematic they were. She had been funnelling people to that property on a long term basis. Eventually those issues caught up with me and caused me to pull another move earlier than anticipated. Pros: Lots of crummy listings Cons: Unacceptable business practices more

Avoid at All Costs 2/2/2010

This company's brokers are questionable at best. I am all for being competitive and business is business but they are either incompetant or worse. Recently, they tried to reneged on a deal I had for a place without notice and did not allow me to put in a counter offer until I had my broker from another firm raise a stink about it. This after they had setup a lease signing and after they had told me a place was mine. Avoid at all costs. You do not want to be on either side of a deal with them. more

Misleading and incompetent 12/30/2009

Looking for an apartment, kept getting the car salesman, ""everything's good, everything's fine""... but no real answers. Never responded directly to any question. Cons: Misleading, half-truths, and people who don't listen more

WASTE of TIME 12/9/2009

We are relocating to Manhattan and only have a few weekends before we need to be settled in. We spoke with Danny Moyals. We didn't want to waste his time so we let him know our budget of 2400, looking in UWS, would like to be near a park. He said no problem he had a ton of places to show us...got down to the city, he was all the sudden unavailable and had his partner show us around. Then all the apartments within our price range we thought we came to the city to check out were instantly all rented and wanted to show us 2700-3000 apartments. I would NEVER recommend them. They don't take the 15 minutes of time to find out what is important to you and classic bait and switch...Total waste of time and only creating more pressure for us to relocate. Pros: Ton of apartments Cons: None of them actually exist more

Contact Alex Cheung - a good agent 6/17/2009

Alex was a very helpful, easy going agent to work with. Whenever I had a question or issue he was always quick to respond. He helped me find a great apartment at a very good price when something else I liked fell through. He does fee and no fee apartments. more

Waste of time, use Craigslist 5/20/2009

met with a broker. showed me a total of 3 apartments. always seemed like she made the appointments that morning, because she ""couldn't get a hold"" of half the available landlords. the broker's game was asking me what apartments i wanted to see from their website. when i looked and picked things, half of them were already rented. the apartments i was shown were all buildings i had seen on craigslist. it seemed to me like bait you with nice pictures on their website, make appointments for craigslist apartments, and then expect you to pay a fee if you see one you like (that you would have easily found yourself). Pros: knew area somewhat well Cons: wasted my time more

Wasted over a month of my time... 1/8/2009

I was shown an apartment by one of their agents at then end of November. The apartment was undergoing minor renovations. He told me that the management company verified that the apartment would be ready for my Dec. 16th move-in date. The 16th came and the work had not been completed. more

I had a great experience with the West Village office 11/18/2007

I had the best experience with Citi-Habitats. My agent was very knowledgeable and found my apartment in the West Village within two days. He knew what I was looking for and was extremely professional. Ask for Udi Eliasi at the Perry Street office. He was really great. I will recommend it to anyone. Pros: great service! more

Don't waste your time 8/2/2007

We wasted 2 full days with this company seeing nothing but crummy apartments and being repeatedly misled by their agent who insisted that theirs was the most comprehensive list of apartments and that everything available was on it. When we liked nothing she showed us, she insisted that no other company could show us anything else -- that she had shown us everything available in our preferred neighborhoods. We then went to Manhattan Apartments, Inc., and the first two apartments they showed us were exactly what we were looking for, and at a good price! We took the first one, and would have been equally thrilled with the second. Don't waste your time with City-Habitats. more

Ask for Danny Moyal 5/14/2007

Moved last week from the lower east side to the upper west side. Overall the process was very painful, met some sleazy realtors and a couple of good ones. Ended up signing a lease through citi-habitats with Danny Moyal. He was honest and straightforward, kept me informed with frequent calls, and I definitely would recommend him to anyone looking in Manhattan. I can't vouch for everyone at citi habitats but Mr. Moyal is a solid guy. Pros: See narrative Cons: 15 % fee, but ask for any institutional discounts more

Better Service Elsewhere 5/22/2006

I appreciate the many fine reviews here and I tend to think real estate services are only as good as the individual agents. In my case, the two people we dealt with at Citi-Habitats were absolutely awful. The misrepresented not only facts about the properties (as do most agents), but also the terms of the lease and certain representations made by the landlord. We had understood from our agent that certain requests (repairs, conditions for signing the lease) were approved by the landlord and assured all was taken care of. Shame on us for believing them without getting something in writing, but given the good reputation citi-habitats has, we really didn't expect that we were being lied to. We've since moved to another building assisted by another firm and things have been MUCH more pleasant. Cons: service, accuracy of info more

New in New York 5/1/2006

Two years ago we moved to NYC. I had no idea what I was doing but with the help of my Citi Habitats agent, I quickly learned and avoided several common pitfalls when I rented my first apartment in Gramercy. My agent followed up on everything and helped me solve all the little things associated with interstate relocating. Today, the same agent is showing me a new apartment that I hope to purchase. Thank You Citi Habitats! It's great to know honest people. Pros: Customer Relations, City Knowledge Cons: So Many apartments more

Great job!! 4/30/2006

I was very pleased dealing with Citi Habitats. I bought my first apartment from them and plan on buying my future apartment through them. I would recomend the office on Third Ave between 9th and 10th Streets. The manager and his agents are VERY helpful and knowledgable. Thank you! more

Thanks for the Great help 4/28/2006

This is onre of the best Reators I have found in the City. I g=had all my questions answered before I even asked. They went out of their wat to help in anyway possible. Used then twice so far and reccomended them to a few friends that have been satified also. I don't understand why the someone would write a negetive work about these people (maybe their competitors). Thanks again for all your help...........:) JC-WF Pros: Helpfull, Lot of Resources, Inexpensive more

BEST RENTAL/SALE COMPANY IN MANHATTAN!!!!!!! 4/28/2006

Since the first day of working here, custormer service has been brainwashed into my mentality. If there is any synonym for Citi Habitats, it is customer service. I try to provide all my clients with the highest level of it and know that all of my co-workers do the same. Even the managers are always willing to go the extra mile for the clients. There is no company in Manhattan that can compete with the inventory or the level of customer service of Citi habitats. more

Quick and easy 4/27/2006

My broker took me to three fantastic apartments within about forty five minutes. There was no pain in the process... and I had three great spots to choose from! The usually painful process was over and done with in less than 24 hours. Highly reccomended. Pros: Fast, Efficient, No BS Cons: Fee more

GREAT - AGENT 4/27/2006

My agent showed me apartments I could afford and helped me though every step of the process - I rented a great apartment from them last year and this year I bought a hot new condo - I couldn't have done it without Ted he made the entire process stress free and easy- I was happy to pay the fee for the great service I recieved! Thank You! Pros: Timely, Honest, Knowledgeable more

I found a GREAT apt though them! 4/27/2006

I just moved here from DC and though I could take the craigs list route and avoid a broker. After being baited and switched by what I thought were owner listings (wrong!) I went to a citi habitats office. The agent who helped me very professional, listened to what and gave good advice. We looked for 2 weeks before I found a great 1 bdrm in Gramercy. It was a bit hard becasue I have a dog and there aren't a lot of pet friendly bldgs where I was looking. Anyway, we signed leases and I couldn't be happier. The agent followed up with me and even sent me a welcome gift! I have already referred two people to her. I did pay full broker fee but I believe that you pay for what you get- I got an apt that I LOVE and it's def worth it to me. Pros: Friendly, Market knowledge, GREAT experience Cons: Not enough, pet friendly, bldgs! more
