We had a great night last week on a visit to Monterey. The service was attentive but not over the top. I had a gnocchi trio which was absolutely delicious and my husband had grilled wild salmon. The icing on the cake was a jazz duo, Joe and Lee, who played soft sophisticated jazz throughout. Another nice touch was that the owner, a lady, went around the restaurant and spoke to each table, checking that al was well. We have been a few times before and definitely will go on our next visit. more

I am not sure why happy hour here hasnt taken off. They have discount speacialty cocktails for about $7. The drinks are good and generouslty sized despite being sold at a discount. They have discounted appetizers like bruchetta ( excellent I could live on it..comes drizzled with balsamic reduction), shrimp skewer ( also excellent)), You can also order dinner such as the gnocci trio, calamari, pasta dishes etc. I have never had anything bad here.I usually get great service here as well and I've never really seen in crowded. I go here every time I go to Monterey and often more than once. Music starts up later in the evening some nights. Nice atmosphere. The total bill for two cocktails, two orders of bruchetta, calari and the gnocci trio was just over $40! more

My wife and I walked over from the Marriott. We were fortunate to get there right as they opened. We were promptly greeted by a very nice lady. Our server was great. He was very attentive and friendly. We ended up having the rib eye and chicken dinners. Dinner was excellent. Calamari was excellent. The libations were good as well. more

I ate here twice while I was in town for a conference. Their specials are great as well as their regular menu. Management is very nice, we felt very well taken care of. more

Went in for the music and stayed for the food! I had salmon which was right off the boat and perfectly cooked and my partner had hollow pasta - obviously fresh and the sauce was great with a little bit of pepper or fresh spice that tasted really good. Delicious! Music started at 7 and let the dancing begin! more

My husband and I passed a few days around Monterey in July 2012. We like to have late and fancy dinner - not easy to find a Restaurant! After searching for a nice place to have dinner late in the evening, we ended up at Cibo Ristorante Italiano in Monterey. What a chance we had! Around 10 PM the cook (seems to be the owner) visited us at the table to make some suggestions a few minutes before the kitchen was supposed to close! We were served an excellent dinner (especially the ""Tagliata di manzo"" was superb) with excellent wine. more

What an amazing gem in the heart of downtown Monterey! With its family owned atmosphere, and delicious, diverse menu, this makes for the perfect date spot. I absolutely love the pastas, fresh seafood, but am obsessed with the pizzas. The Cibo is the best (obviously)! Amazing, friendly, and talented bartenders (Dave from New Orleans can mix up a mean specialtly), and very nice and quick servers, this makes for a very pleasant dinner. You can't find stuff like this in San Diego! more

I love Monterey, and especially love 6/7/2012

I love Monterey, and especially love their restaurants. Whenever I come to the area, Cibo is at the top of my list. I've been there for happy hour and I've been there for a wonderfully romantic dinner. What makes it romantic outside of the ambiance? The food. It's a fantasy in every bite. The chef has successfully brought together authentic, traditional Italian with a modern flare. I've never had anything quite like it. Everything we order is like a party in your mouth! more

Love the happy hour, love the food. 5/31/2012

Love the happy hour, love the food. Best Tiramisu Ive ever had. My favorite restaurant on the peninsula. more

LOVED IT! 8/4/2011

I attended the PMA convention last week and came across this amazing restaurant. I'll keep it simple, the food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the live entertainment top notch. My colleges and I had a great time and will be returning whenever we are in Monterey. Don't miss this place! more

Very good consistent food - VERY bad consistent service 8/26/2008

Great location! We go here EVERY year when we visit Monterey for the Historics and other race weekends at Laguna Seca. They have a great deal fixed price menu - 3 courses for $23 I think - until 7pm. We've been coming here for 3 years now - probably around 6 different occassions. Food is always good; good quality and its always hot (I hate being served cold food). But the service is the worse I have ever seen! Last time we were there; we asked a passing waitress if we could order a drink (we'd been there 20 minutes already) and she told us our server would be with us - eventually! She then sat down at a table near us with patrons and carried on a conversation! Clearly she was far too good to be working there (yeah right). If it weren't for the quality of the food and the location we'd give it a wide berth.... Pros: Good Food Cons: Terrible service more

Skip This One, Folks! 9/2/2005

Our hotel recommended this local Italian restaurant, and we shouldn't have listened. Both entrees were incredibly overcooked, and we sent 1 of them back. The chicken was tough and rubbery, served atop a bed of lead-heavy gnocchi pellets. The pasta was mushy and strangely resembled the taste of Chef Boyardee. It seemed like the dishes were cooked ahead of time and reheated to order, served on stone-cold plates. Skip this one, folks. more
