Editorial review from Citysearch 3/18/2014

I am astonished at the other reviews posted on this site. We had the best moving experience ever with this company. We had an interstate move from Oregon to Iowa. We've had some pretty bad moves in the past, but this was excellent from the estimate through the entire move. Our Moving consultant and coordinator, Paul and Janella, put us at ease immediately; they were thorough, knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. Great communication. Our driver, Mack, and his moving crew were amazing! They had such great attitudes and really knew what they were doing. They were in a position to deliver our belongings even earlier than expected, but waited until we were ready. We absolutely recommend this company and the representatives with whom we dealt. more

The worst mover we have ever used! 9/5/2010

We couldn't agree more with the previous reviewers. Although the move was okay, the moving crew didn't seem to know what they were doing. We have used a number of moving companies over the years, and we had more damage to our furniture than any other company we have ever used. And, to top it off, my wedding ring (which I inadvertently forgot to remove from my jewelry box) is missing. Chipman has ""no idea"" what could have happened to it. The police are investigating. You can draw your own conclusions. more

Can't Deliver On-time 12/10/2009

Chipman Relocation's was great up-front - coming out for the estimate, explaining the process, getting the truck there, packing, etc. Our move coordinator, Judy Davis as in the previous post, checked in as we were leaving and told us with ""Just call me seven days before you want your items."" Per those instructions, once we'd found our new house, I called a little over a week before I wanted our household goods and arranged delivery. Judy said ""No problem, the driver will call about 24 hours before his arrival."" The day before the delivery I still hadn't heard anything so I called to check on the status. ""What are you talking about?"" was the response I got. Uh-oh. I explained I had called the week before to arrange delivery and was expecting to hear from the driver. I was told that the move coordinator misunderstood my request and thought I wanted it *next* month, not tomorrow. I was told it would be another week before they could get my things to me. So I was paying a mortgage on a new house I couldn't move into as well as another week of temporary living expenses. Fortunately, United Van Lines, who Chipman Relocations represents, has a $125 per diem for every day that a shipment is late. I asked how I went about applying for this, but was told that the delay was not United's fault and that they wouldn't pay. This was simply a misunderstanding between myself and Chipman, I was told. Misunderstanding or not, Chipman promised delivery on a certain date and the household goods were delivery 7 days after that date. All attempts to reason with Chipman failed and they continue to refuse to honor the $125 per diem delay reimbursement from the contract. Despite the pleasant front end experience, it is the final delivery that counts when moving. Chipman Relocations failed completely in this regard, greatly inconveniencing my family from both a time and money point-of-view. I cannot recommend against Chipman Relocations strongly enough. From experience I know that finding a better moving company won't be easy, but it would be difficult to find worse. Pros: Good service up-front Cons: Delivered late, refused to honor contract more

Poor Customer Service 10/1/2009

Thought they would be good - NOT! Would NEVER recommend them! Their entire crew doesn't speak any english & doesn't have a clue what you want them to do. They got the truck stuck for 30minutes on the hill - couldn't back it up a street. They unloaded & didn't BOTHER to ask where everything should go, they didn't put half of what they took apart back together (bed frames, bedroom vanity set), they rushed because the crew needed to get a party! Judy Davis was great up until I asked her to remove the 'covered insurance' information because we have insurance coverage - she didn't! Saul doesn't understand anything he's asking you to do - I told him we have our own coverage & had NO CLUE! There was NO COMMUNICATION between Judy & the crew - she said there would be wardrobe boxes - NONE! She did drive it out. I DO NOT recommend using their service - the do not provide any customer service what so ever! Pros: Nothing good! Cons: Customer Service & Crew more
