Panda Express or Chin Chin Grill? 3/26/2006

Being a server in the service industry for ten years I have learned a thing or two about cleanliness, food preperation and especially....service. In my experience as a server and a guest in this restaurant I find the food greasy, stingy, and not well prepared. The service is mediocre and similar to what you can find in any ""hole in the wall"" Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles. The obviously ""tired"" ""bitter""senior servers, remodeled unsemetrical, unpleasant, and tasteless decor, followed an obvious disrespect for Chinese culture makes this restaurant a joke to visit. The service is ""hit or miss"" depending on which server you get. There were many complaints being a server there that I received as well as many complaints dining there as a guest. I have heard and had friends that had ""tummy rumbles"" after. The Orange chicken is greasy and other signature items are far below consumption quality. more

OVER RATED 7/4/2004

This pathetic excuse for a chinese bistro has no place on the trendy & posh sunset strip. The wait staff is extremely rude, the waitress actually rolled her eyes and sighed when we asked to sit outside. The peanut noodles were dry and horrific. The orange chicken was good, but there were very few actual chicken pieces. Just when you thought P.F. Chang's was as bad as it gets, Chin Chin comes along...spend the extra $10 and go to Le Petit Four down the street instead. Pros: People watching Cons: , Value, Food more

Not even close to Chinese 2/4/2003

Absolutely awful. Never, ever again will I step into a Chin Chin. This is not even close to resembling anything remotely like Chinese food. I am Chinese. This is a totally Americanized view of what Chinese food is. As for being Americanized food, I found the ""dim sum"" skimpy and cheap and the rest of the food too salty, too sweet, too starchy and containing thick gooey sauces smothering everything else. Cons: Unauthentic, Bad food more

Chin chin beats all others! 1/17/2003

My husband and I visted LA last September from NC and stopped in chin chin to get a bite to eat without knowing anything about it. Well I thought I was in Heaven. I had the chicken Lo Mein. It was the best lo mein I have ever tasted and we plan on going back soon. Chin chin is on my top place to eat at. The only thing I did not like is LA NEEDS SWEET TEA!!! Pros: inexpensive, Great Patio, Nice people Cons: nothing, nothing, nothing more

Blecchh!!! 1/1/2003

I've eaten at Chin Chin three times now. I don't know why, but I kept wanting to give it chances because I heard it was so good. I TRIED to like it, but each time the food was progressively worse. The dishes had pasty tasting sauces, and twice my food was served cold. The service, I admit, was good, but not enough to make up for the food. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere more authentic and cheaper. Chin Chin is a rip-off! Pros: Quick seating, Friendly service Cons: Greasy, Tasteless, Cold food more

The Smile Above Chin Chin 11/9/2002

I always have a great dining experience at Chin Chin. The staff are very respectful and attend try to attend to everyone's needs. Great taste and presentation. Only drawback is the price and the amount of noise. But, overall a great place! Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere Cons: Mildly Expensive more

pork burnt rice 11/9/2002

The only thing worth getting here is the chocolate covered fortune cookies. I've never had a worse meal, honestly. The chicken just tasted weird, not right, and the pork fried rice smelled like it was smoldering, and tasted like charcole. yuck!!!! Pros: good parking, good fortune cookies Cons: bad food, not worth the $$$ more
