The Children's Eye Center is a pediatric ophthalmology clinic that has been serving Colorado Springs and all of Southern Colorado for over 30 years. We are the only office in the entire Southern Colorado region dedicated solely to pediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility.
Our fellowship trained pediatric ophthalmologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions in children, including amblyopia (decreased vision), need for glasses (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism), strabismus or crossed eyes (esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia, hypotropia, pseudostrabismus), nasolacrimal duct obstruction (tear duct blockages), congenital eye problems (congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma, ptosis (droopy eyelids), metabolic or systemic conditions with eye findings (diabetes, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, neurofibromatosis, etc), optic nerve problems, and nystagmus (shakiness of the eyes), as well as, ocular motility problems in patient's of all ages (adult strabismus).
Nieca D. Caltrider, M.D.
Dr. Caltrider is a licensed physician and surgeon, specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She is Board Certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Caltrider earned her BS degree at Ohio State University, where she received the Phi Beta Kappa award. She went to the University of Colorado, where she earned her MS degree and then her MD degree. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Caltrider completed her ophthalmology training with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Pacific Medical Center-Institute of Visual Sciences in San Francisco.
Dr. Caltrider is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology, El Paso County Medical Society, Pikes Peak Pediatric Society, Society of Heed Fellows, and the Frederick Cordes Eye Society.
Dr. Lee is originally from Saint Louis, Missouri. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the Johns Hopkins University, where he was also elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and stayed for his Ophthalmology residency at the Saint Louis University Eye Institute.
In his final year of residency, Dr. Lee served as Chief Resident. He continued his education with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the University of Michigan-Kellogg Eye Center.
Dr. Lee is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, and is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology, El Paso County Medical Society, and the Pikes Peak Pediatric Society.
