Chen's China Inn

Chen's China Inn has the best Chinese food in Lufkin and the area. You can go in there anytime of day and get a complete meal with a drink for $5.00. I always get the sweet and sour chicken meal and it comes with about 6 large pieces of chicken, a huge thing of rice and two egg rolls. I always get extra rice and no egg roll and they are happy to do so. They also bring these chip like things out while you are waiting on your meal and they are great. I have heard the Pepper Steak and Sesame Chicken is also great but I don't really try new things so I am not sure. This restaurant is great. It is in a nice clean building, has great people working there, great prices, and very very good food. I also love to get the fortune cookies after my meal. I can go there with my gf and we both get the same thing. We can eat there for under $12.00 and it's great. It's a cheap complete meal and it's way better and filling than McDonald's or something. If you're ever in the area go try it out. You will be pleased. more

I used to eat here all the time, that is, until I got sick 2x's from eating there. Which is sad too because Chen's had delicious food. We were eating one day in the restaurant and a roach crawled up the wall behind us...yikes. Another time I was in the drive thru for at least 10-15min waiting on my food. There was a large table with raw chicken and veggies together. There was no one in the vicinity of the table, so I have no idea how long all of that was sitting out unrefrigerated. I'm not sure if I would eat there again, although I must say I do miss it, the food is wonderful more

Well, what can I say but the food here is very good....With that said though, the place is NASTY! I'll give a few examples. While eating we saw a roach or two crawling up the wall. While picking up my food in the drive through one day I saw raw chicken AND broccoli/carrots on the same table, no one near them, just sitting there in the open. I sat there for at least 10min waiting and not once was there anyone near the raw foods, no refrigeration. I also have gotten sick once after eating there. After all these things, I won't go back. I miss the food, but really don't need food poisoning. more

We like the food here, but most of the time its take out for us, cause the restaurant is a little crowded for my liking and I have heard it get exceptionally loud in there. The servers are good though and the lady that does the cash register is really nice too. more

I believe the technical name is Gan Shou shrimp, but I just call it spicy. It has been a favorite of mine for a while now. They offer a fair variety of dishes; lunch specials are available. You can also call in an order and drive thru to pick it up. Hours of operation are from 11 - 10 daily. Their costs are reasonable. more
