Chef Mickey's, at Walt Disney World's Contemporary resort

Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Hotel in Walt Disney World has always been a favorite for our family. The kids always wanted to do a character meal when they were younger, and we were just grateful that the food was good for the price we had to pay to see Mickey! We always found it such a pleasant surprise that the offerings were as gourmet as they were. Of course, they offer kid friendly foods like macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and pizza; but they also have delicious salads and homemade soups, main course items like salmon, prime rib and pasta dishes, interesting side dishes (parmesan mashed potatoes to die for) and excellent desserts from the Disney bakers. The meal is served buffet style, and the characters come around and really pay attention to your children. The most recent price I found listed was $27.99 for adults, $12.99 for children 3-9. more

Chef Mickey's Contemporary Resort -Character Dinner Dinner is served from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm Characters are Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale, and Donald. When we went the Buffet Price was $27.99 for adults $12.99 for all children ages 3-9. The selections on the night we went that we tried included a salad & soup bar, carving station for Prime Rib & Ham, chef's specials of the day -that day included Tamarind Glazed Salmon with Pesto and Wasabi Mango Coulis, Madeira Wild Mushroom Beef Tips, and a chicken dish I did not try; sides included Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, Mickey Cheese Ravioli and Marinara Sauce (cute Mickey shaped pasta), Rice with Peas, Garlic Steamed Broccoli, Glazed Baby Carrots. There is a Kid's Favorites section featuring Pizza, Macaroni & Cheese, vegetables & Chicken Tenders -I did not ty any of these. Save room for the make your own sundae and dessert bar. A non-alcoholic beverage was included in the price. Buffets at any Disney resort restaurant mean huge amounts of food! This one is certainly not an exception! Buffets also mean crowded restaurants, wait times without a reservation often mean at least one hour, so make a reservation. To make a reservation for any Disney restaurant call 1-407-934-7639 or vacation services toll free 877-939-3732 press option 3 (the toll free number is sometimes very busy). Some Walt Disney World restaurant reservations now do require a credit card deposit or full payment in advance. My guess is this is due to people making reservations, then not showing up. Credit card GUARANTEE (NOT DEPOSIT) is required for dinner shows, some of the special events, the Fantasmic Dinner Package, and certain hard to book/busy restaurants, they will tell you this at time of reservation booking if they need your cerdit card number. Cancellation policies vary check the restaurant policy at time of booking. Please note payment in full with a credit card will be required at the time of booking for all meals at Cinderella's Royal Table. Also Holiday reservations may not be guaranteed. (we had no problem booking a Valantine's day dinner this year.) more

I have mixed feelings about Chef Mickey's. The characters are wonderful- it is the only meal at Walt Disney World where you can get Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip, and Dale. It is my favorite place for character interaction and it is a very festive mood. That being said, even with ADRs, the wait can be long and fairly chaotic- it's hard to keep little ones still when they can see Mickey! Also, the food is not as good as other character meals, but I've only tried breakfast- next time we will try dinner. more

Chef Mickey's is located in the Contemporary Resort in Walt Disney World. I have only been in here for the character breakfast and it was great. It was a fun meal and you were met all the major characters. It is very lively and a nice, happy way to start your day in Disney. The food was quite good and served buffet style. more

Chef Mickey's is a wonderful character meal restaurant, offering breakfast and dinner. We enjoy visiting for the character breakfast -- the offerings are wonderful: fresh fruit, pancakes, Mickey waffles, meats, biscuits, cereals, etc. The atmosphere is busy and festive. If someone in your group is celebrating a birthday, be sure to mention it -- the birthday child will receive a signed, laminated souvineer placemat and a birthday cupcake. The characters come around to the individual tables for photos and autographs. more
