Good standard 11/24/2005

I first went to Chef Chu three years ago and was not impressed with service nor food. It took me a while to try it again. I returned recently with a group of colleagues, and had a very decent meal. We were seated upstairs, and service was efficient and couteous. I would now recommend Chef Chu as a good standard local Chinese restaurant. more

A Los Altos institution 11/3/2005

Mom mom took me to Chef Chu's when I was a baby and it was a hole in the wall. Larry Chu has managed to grow him business into a wonderful, well known restaurant. The menu has just about everything. House speciality is the Chinese Chicken Salad, with just enough hot mustard for a slight bite to it. The pot stickers are the best I've ever had. Chef Chu's also has rooms for private banquets. more

For those of you who have not had a chance to enjoy Chef Chu's, do your self a favor and visit. They really have someone of the most consistent and tasty Chinese food in the area. I would highly recommend the chicken salad and the wor wonton soup and the pot stickers in spicy peanut sauce. (they may have a different name). The full dinners are actually very good also. I have never been disappointed in a meal, there. more

Good Eatery 7/16/2005

One of the best known Chinese Restaurants in the Bay Area, and it also happens to be family-owned and operated. The menu is classic with all the favorites. The portions are good-sized and the atmosphere is warm – it’s generally packed. If you think food should be hot and spicy this is a great place to eat. Ask for an extra helping of the hot pepper oil. I usually even get some to go. There’s a decent selection of vegetarian items. more
