If the other reviews do not make you want to grab a Cheeseboard Pizza, then here's another... I DO NOT like pizza, but Cheeseboard is a revelation. I can eat at Cheeseboard eve...

Worst

Yes, the Cheese Board rocks. Especially for cheese and bread. But their pizza? I know it's supposed to be different, no sauce and all, but when they were so gracious to cater a gi...

Gourmet pizzas made with fresh, flavorful ingredients. I only wish I had more time with them... unfortunately, my days at Berkeley were too short.... more

Excellent pizza 6/17/2006

They make one kind of pizza each day and it is always terrific. The associated cheese shop next door is what usually draws me there, but it's hard to resist the pizza when you go by. Pros: Yummy pizza Cons: Nowhere to eat more

Best Pizza on Earth 11/23/2005

From the first to the last bite, cheeseboard pizza stands in a league all by itself. My favorite is anything with corn in it, however, every topping is pleasing to the palatte. Pros: Delicious, Cheap, Fresh more

Who Are We Kidding? 6/22/2004

This pizza is JUST OK. Most of the time the pizza du jour has large chunks of onion in the sauce which makes this pizza stink, literally -- it smells unappetizing. And the combinations are normally dreaful. Then you have to line up to get the pizza like in the army. The locals are hanging out all over the place eating the pizza thinking this is a cool thing to do since the shop is a socialist co-op. This is not a good pizza folks. You are fooling yourselves. Cons: , no seating, mediocre pizza more

Pizza WOULD be great 1/31/2004

if once, just once, you could taste something besides garlic. Every pizza has garlic galore. Now I love garlic, but this is getting OLD. Pros: nice to eat outside, good crust, tasty Cons: , long line more

You know, for 1 of those tiny places... 1/25/2004

...they sure do bang out a bunchapizzas! And they're delicious. Potential customers should be aware though that there's limited seating, there are line ups out the door for people wanting to take a pizza home. There's music believe it or not, good music - several nights a week, talented people working for tips - even if you don't eat pizza - GO FOR THE MUSIC - and warm and friendly people! Pros: Awesome pizza, Good music, Friendly people Cons: Too small 2 stay long, Uncomfortable chairs more

Eatsa' da' pizza! Mama mia! 12/11/2003

The Cheeseboard has ruined me for other pizza. The pizza (ONE KIND per day) changes daily is always excellent and their inspired combinations certainly do not make you wish for any more or less. Ingredients are simple, vegetarian, beautiful and thoroughly satisfying. The crust is perfectly thin and crunchy with a sumptuous bath of fruity olive oil once out of the oven. They tend to run out early so get yours well before closing time! Just so you don't have the wrong idea - this isn't so much a dine-in place as a take-out place w/ a few tables, a piano and an everpresent line. Pros: freshness, simplicity, value more

viva berkeley 9/15/2003

These guys know how to run an establishment. The lines run out the door at lunch and the food is excellent. The people who work there seem to like the job and the people who patronize the joint. I have even seen them giving homeless people the royal treatment. A true class act! more

It's a worker co-op too 2/2/2003

In addition to having the best pizza in the East Bay, Cheeseboard Pizza is also a successful worker co-operative. The Deli and Pizza locations are both wholly owned and operated by the workers, with the majority of executive decisions coming from regular ""council"" meetings. The Pizza place is actually a subsidiary of the Deli, but it has the option of forming a separate co-op at any time. If you've ever wondered why they have such strange hours, it's because that's what the workers chose! Pros: The Pizza!, Round-numbered prices Cons: Limited seating, Almost no parking, Strange hours more

Gotta Try This 1/19/2003

They make great pizza. Go there on a sunny saturaday noon time, and sit on the side of the road and enjoy the pizza, good time. more

Sauce free zone 11/20/2002

Using fresh veggies and the best crust this side of heaven, the Cheeseboard makes the very best vegetarian pizza. No questions, hands down. Often you can get fine live jazz as you stand in line. Outstanding. more

Pizza! 11/18/2002

The smell of baking pizza wafting down Shattuck drives me in every time! Pros: inexpensive, fun, delicious more

I'm changing coasts! 11/6/2002

We visited the Bay Area in the end of August and we made a stop in Berkeley. Not being a pizza person here in NYC, I opted not to get anything when my husband went in to Cheeseboard. We sat outside as he slowly savored every bite, enticing me to try a bit - heaven! I couldn't believe how good it was! A man sitting next to me must have had the same opinion because he called his friends right there and told them to come down and get some. I think we're moving.... more

AWESOME!! 8/1/2002

You have never had pizza like this before. The cheese they use is far from chedddar or Mozarella. The cheese always complements the variety of pizza offered and with the excellent crust you will never want to eat another pizza as long as you live. more

California Pizza Heaven 5/12/2002

A handful of simple ingredients create vegetarian white pizza with layers of fresh flavor. Line up early, or chances are, the shop will sell out of the pie of the day. Always check the Cheeseboard next store for leftover, half-baked pies to take home. There's nothing like nibbling on a hot slice as someone bangs out a tune on the piano on a sunny day. A funky, friendly Berkeley vibe rings through the tiny shop as the line for pizza curls out the door and down the street. Pros: Delicious Pizza, Friendly Service Cons: Sporadic Hours, Cramped Space, Limited Selection more
