Charleston IMAX Theater

I took my daughter to see Beauty and the Beast when it came out. I had never been to an Imax before this, but I heard that the screen was huge. So My Daughter and I decided to see this animated feature for our first IMAX visit and I was like "WOOOOOWWWW!!!!!" I was very impressed with the theater itself. Very clean and a courteous staff. Even though I have seen this movie before, it was like seeing again for the first time on the IMAX screen. I felt like I was actually IN the movie. It was great, I can't wait to go back! more

We go to the Imax at least once per year and generally go on a school fieldtrip. Last Christmas, we went on a school fieldtrip to see The Polar Express. I have seen this movie in a regular theater and we own a dvd copy, but the Imax experience is definately worth it! The movie screen and the sound engulf you and the seats couldn't have been more comfortable. The theater was clean and the employees were very friendly. There is a park very close to the theater, so you can make a day of it. We can't wait to go again! more

I took my students here to see The Polar Express for a field trip. They had a great time. I must admit, so did I. Seeing that movie in 3-D on the big screen was fascinating. It brought the movie to life and made me feel like a kid again. The fact that the theater is right on the water of downtown Charleston only adds to the great experience. The kids had lunch on the grass in front of the aquarium and Fort Sumpter National Monument. Definitely a nice way to spend a family day out! more

The Imax is by the Charleston Harbor and is a really nice, newer one. The seats are comfortable and they get many special release issues in 3 D that are not three d at the movie. As far as movie prices go, the Imax is slightly more than a regular movie but much more enjoyable. The concession stand is not any more than any other regular movie. They have a good deal on a "kiddie" combo. Parking is a inconvenient because you have to use street parking or the parking garage. I suggest you go online and purchase your tickets there or call ahead. Many times the IMAX will be sold out of a particular show but you can purchase your tickets in advance. They get a lot of tourists that walk in when they get to the harbor. This one is always busy. more
