Best

I think the price of the food is reasonable and the flavors of the dishes are excellent. I enjoy eating the lunch buffet the most because it is the best value for the buck. Havi...

Extremely poor... 11/29/2003

I enjoy going out and trying new restaurants but would not recommend Changsho. Aside from the difficult parking on the opposite side of the road, the food was extremely overpriced and of poor quality. It wasn't until the bill came did we realize we were charged 7.50 to switch white rice to pork fried rice on the Combo meal. The pad thai was tasteful, but not at all like authentic thai food. The hostess was very bland and did not have much of a personality. I would not recommend this restaurant to family or friends. On the postive note the Peking Raviolis were delicious. more

Best in Boston Beautiful Superb Dinner 8/1/2003

First off I would like to say that Changso has the best parking spaces in Boston. I cannot tell you of another Chinese restaurant in Boston with clean, free, and easily acessible parking. I found a spot instantly for my minivan, and my family and I were able to actually get out of the car and into the restaurant within 5 minutes (a record). Their food is superb, the Crispy Peppery Shrimp has a tasty crunch and beatiful texture. The dining room is incredibly clean and the service is excellent. THe staff is very courteous and polite. I am so pleased with Changso. I think that I will take my faimly here over and over again. I have never been to a better Chinese restarant in my 3 years living here in Boston. Pros: Parking, Service more

Getting Worse... 7/10/2003

This used to be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, with an interesting menu, great service, and widely spaced tables. After Lotus Blossom Restaurant chain bought the place a number of years ago, almost all the interesting dishes disappeared from the menu. Beautiful vases on pedestals were replaced with more tables (although it is still a nice atmosphere, just not *as* nice), and the quality of the food became variable. It's just no longer worth it for me. Pros: Off-street parking Cons: Mediocre food, Prices more

I won't go there anymore 2/10/2003

The restaurant looks fency, the service is good, but the high price doesn't reflect on the quality of food. It seems to me that the dishes are modified into American style instead of the authentic Chinese flavor. I'd rather go to Chinatown. Cons: expensive more

Totally good experience. The BEST value for excellent authentic chinese. The BEST and most extensive brunch in Cambridge. more

Delightful Buffet!!! 12/30/2002

After dinning at many restaurants in the Cambridge area, i've come to believe that Changsho has the best lunch offering. For $8.95 I could eat an all-you-can eat buffet. This was a great value. At the buffet I tried various dishes including a surprising delightful sushi menu and Hawain fried rice with pineapples. The best dish of the afternoon was the general gao chicken. I haven't had general gao this good anywhere! I would gladly pay $8.95 to eat Changsho's general gao chicken. It has a hypnotic flavor that leaves your mouth watering for more. I think it should be outlawed because it is so good!!! Pros: good parking, inexpensive more

Here is to long life 11/15/2002

After having eaten good food in Hong Kong for 30 years, it is nice to find a restaurant outside of Chinatown that serves reasonably authentic chinese food. My family and I had lunches here several times and we are gratified to find that they do not add soya sauce and vinegar to everything they prepared. The seafood and vegetables are fresh and lightly seasoned, and the meats are well marinated before being cooked. Overall a quality operation. more

Exquisite Food and Dining Experience 10/7/2002

Located just on the outskirts of Harvard and Tufts, Changsho is a superb restaurant in an area of great history and events. My fried recently brought 4 of us there to try the food and it was to die for. We started with shrimp & pine nuts wrapped in letuce leaves as an appetizer (fabulous!) and tried their spinach and tofu soup. (light and flavorful). For our meal we had lobster, hunan spicy ducklings, pan fried noodles and chillean sea bass. The food here is really hard to beat, and the decor of the restaurant is simply spectacular. We also tried a few of their exotic polynesian drinks (alcohol), the menu doesn't explain them well, but our waiter was more than helpfull with our selection choice and they were a real treat. Be sure to keep a look out for the anitique drums and statues around. Pros: parking available, great drinks, worth every penny more
