Cha For Tea. 4/4/2006

I used to go to Lollicup until I started attending UCI and discovered Cha For Tea. I hate that the prices are so incredibly high (about $5 for a boba drink) but the drinks are always good. The barrista type of people there even offer to adjust your drink to your taste every single time no matter how many people are there. The one near UCI is always packed. It also opens until 1 a.m.. more

a hip college tea place 3/29/2006

I've been dragged here a few times from friends and the place is not bad at all. But my thing is that for 3.50, I rather go to jamba juice and buy a smoothie which is more filling than the light teas they offer here. This place is very cool cause you can see the teas being made in front of you and shaked. I would recommend everyone to try here but just to warn you, the prices are pretty high. BOBA is the bomb. more

Great food and lots of tea choices 3/14/2006

I really like Cha for Tea, I eat there every time I go the Irvine Farmer's Market (right in the parking lot) on Saturday mornings. They have a ton of different tea drinks (with and without boba), and they are really good. The "milk" teas are made with non-dairy creamer, I'm not sure why, but they are happy to substitute soy milk if you prefer. The teas are very refreshing and flavorful. They always offer to adjust the sweetness once you've tasted it. But the reason that I really love Cha is the food! I am practically addicted to their steamed chicken dumplings. They have a lot of fresh cilantro on the top, and a delicious dipping sauce. I believe that all of their food have some tea in them as well. Try it out! more

Boba 1/12/2006

Lizette had taro milk tea. Hand-shaken to order...boba is 8/10, and the milk tea is "smooth and rich with flavour." As a whole, 9/10. Expensive place, but it's always been good. I had a lychee slush thing with boba. I also give the boba 8/10 and the lychee... 8/10. Good place. more

Overpriced, but good drinks 10/7/2005

Cha for Tea offers drink selections where you can actually taste the tea, as opposed to a lot of other boba places. You can just buy another drink and add green tea yourself and get the same effect. I don't know why it's so popular. I think it's because of all the hype. They have helpful and friendly workers there that focus on customer satisfaction, but it's not worth the price of the drinks. more

Healthy tasty food 9/26/2005

This is a welcome break from the burgers and sandwiches. This is not your regular greasy chinese place. The food here is very healthy and is cooked in green tea. They have lunch specials for $4.99. Main dishes include crispy chicken, orange-flavored chicken, curry chicken, basil chicken and minced pork. For your side dish you can choose between rice and egg noodles, or instead go lo-carb by substituting it with salad entirely. While you're there try their funky teas like mango green tea with bobba, or hot almond tea. They have often have samplers of these at the order counter. The orders take a little long compared to your regular fast food place but the wait it worth it. The UCI location is open till 1 AM making it ideal for late night cram sessions. more

Open pretty late! 9/24/2005

The thing that excites me about this boba place is the fact that they are open pretty late. The one in Irvine is open until 1am, BUT they do stop serving around 12:30pm. The staff there is wonderful and very polite. The people make the drinks very fast. Their food is VERY tasty as well. The only downfall I see is that there are more people there than there is seating, and while you are waiting it is a little irritating, but the product is worth the wait. more

Fun 9/23/2005

If you like the in-your-face atmosphere of a college frathouse or the mystic of a sorrority house; then this is the place for you. Plenty of drinks to keep you staying and partying. Very party like environment. A wide variety of drinks to choose from. All types of fruit smooties. Adjustments are possible to alter drink to your desire. Price is fair. more

Great Taste 9/15/2005

This boba house is a wonderful place to go to study, or go to hang out late in the evening with some friends. You can order tea, coffees, juices. Every so often they keep extending their food menu. Their food is to die for as well. One day you must check it out. The thing that sets this boba place apart from the rest is that the boba is sweet unlike a lot of little boba shops. The Irvine one is open late until 1am, but stops serving at 1230. The one in LB closes around 1130pm. Either one, check them out. more

great boba 9/13/2005

cha for tea has great boba and they also have really good spicy crispy chicken. my favorite drink there is the black milk tea. i do not think i have encountered that drink at any other boba place. the atmosphere is great for students and it is also a great place to just hang out. more

Fun Times 9/10/2005

Good college environment boba/coffee/smoothie venue. Located next to Univeristy of California Irvine, this is the idea location for a good partying time. A popular hang-out for college fraternity boys and sorrority girls. Good environment for social and cultural interaction. Open late night and very friendly staff. Price is commesurate to the city of Irvine, basically pricy. But fun. more

Great Spicy Chicken! 9/2/2005

I'm not a fan of their boba drinks. I think Boston Tea Stop is much better. However, they have really good chicken here which makes the place worth while. It's probably not a good date place but it is a good place for students to just stop by and hang out. more

Boba! 9/1/2005

If you like boba, this is the place to go in Irvine. They have so many different flavors to choose from and unlike some of the other places, the ingredients they use are much better. If you've never tried tapioca drinks, its fantastic, or just get the drinks without the boba. Some of the food is pretty decent too. The workers are friendly. Personally, I like the passion fruit green tea. more

Tea house specialties 8/28/2005

Cha for Tea is a unique little tea house that also serves great meals. Most people just drop in for a bubble tea to go, but I stopped by one day for lunch with my boyfriend. It smelled so good from outside that we couldn't resist grabbing a table. The menu is traditional Chinese, and the taste is authentic and tasty. It's an especially great spot for UCI students because the location is across the street from campus. more

Boba Anyone 8/16/2005

This place is one of two. They have one in Irvine, very close to UCI, and another one in Long Beach, very close to CSULB. Both locations are wonderful. The decor is very modern. The service is always wonderful. They have slowly been expanding into foods. I have not tried the foods, but have heard wonderful things about their food. The boba is always wonderful. If you like really sweet boba, the LB location is sweeter, but the Irvine one is just right. They make wonderful teas and milk teas. Their cooler or slushy type drinks are out of this world. Their drinks are very yummy. The only downfall is that you pay a pretty penny for this boba. At most places such as lolicup or other small chains, you may pay $1.99 for a normal drink, where at cha for tea, you may be paying anywhere from $2.40-$3.99. So it is fairly expensive. But yes, definitely worth it. And keep your punch card. more

Great boba! 8/12/2005

Cha for tea is a small boba shop located at the University Town Center right across the st. from the UCI campus. They have pretty good boba and okay food. The prices are a little bit more than Tapioca Express, but the ingredients are higher quality. I recommend the spicy chicken. more
