An 843 acre green patch amongst the tall building blocks of Newyork. This is where the city stops for some peace! The park has everything; open meadows, serene lakes, ponds, biking and jogging paths, playgrounds and much more. Artistis, pedicabs and horse carriages adds to the charm .You can take a picnic basket , get some sun and relax, check out the Belvedere Castle and the famous Bethesda Fountains or just take a walk through the meandering paths. Here you will find something for everyone. more

Summer Stage at Central Park - Free concerts 6/17/2006

For almost thirty years, Central Park has played host to a series of free summer concerts called SummerStage. The 2006 concerts are sponsored by Snapple and I'm especially pleased to see one of my favorite female artists, Audra McDonald on the line-up. The concerts are held at Rumsey Playfield which is located near 69th Street and Fifth Avenue on the east side or enter the park at 72 Street and Central Park West on the westside. SummerStage has traditionally offered performances in music, dance, film, and written word by renowned as well as emerging artists. This is a much anticipated event each summer by residents and visitors and it can be a fun event. Admission to all performances are free and the gates open 90 minutes before showtime. Come early, wear comfortable clothing (no handbags) and bring a jacket/cap in case it rains. No alcohol, folding chairs, beach umbrellas or video/tape recording equipment is allowed and bags will be searched. There are concessions stands nearby. Central Park SummerStage also hosts a small series of ticketed benefit performances designed to support the numerous free events presented throughout the summer. This summers performers will include Grammy Award winning blues rocker Bonnie Raitt on June 28th at 7:00 PM; indie music star Ani DiFranco on July 13th at 7:00 PM; and the poetic soul Fiona Apple on July 26th at 6:30 PM. more
