I told them I had an emergency, they put me on hold for way to long. When I told them the problem I was having with my puppy coughing and sneezing, also not eating they said I could get an appointment the next evening, with no concern at all, she had an attitude almost as if she did not care. I called Banfield in Yonkers and they told me to" Come In Now". I went to Banfield instead and I am loving the decision I made. Call Banfield instead 914-771-5223, they care about your animal much more. My little Peanut was a priority to them, I also joined there Wellness Plan which has saved me alot of money. Thanks Banfield. more

Don't want to risk my pets any more at this hospital 12/18/2010

I still take my pets to this place but my gut is telling me to find another and better facility after reading some of these reviews. I agreed with most of them. We are impressed with Dr. Gross though. She is the only reason we return. I cannot stand the animal handlers or the girls behind the desk. No one seems to care about who you are. The animal handlers are too rough and the women behind the desk are indiffferent as hell. I wish Dr. Gross had her own practice. And the place does nickle and dime you which is also annoying when you are a steady customer. more

I was appalled to read any negative comments about Central Animal Hospital. I have interacted with them when my beloved Bichon Frisse, Samson was dying and they could not have been more understanding, caring and sincere. Dr. Cheryl Gross is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind and professional. Though it is true that it is a "busy" office, the staff are helpful and kind. Being "busy" is a true testament to the skills and professionalism given to the pets entrusted to their care. I am now the owner of a Yorkie and Dr. Gross and Central Animal Hospital are my Yorkie's healthcare providers. \r \r I strongly recommend that anyone desiring excellent healthcare and professionalism for their pet, visit the Central Animial Hospital. If you have to wait for your appointment, it's because they care about each pet. more

They dont care and will make your dog sick, just to make a buck 9/27/2010

My first time there was to board my animals. I had been going to another vet but felt Central was closer and I had asked around and they were well recommended. While I was making arrangements to board my dog the receptionist asked me the oddest question. "Are you the type that would get upset if your dog were to get "Kennel Cough"?? I thought this was odd but chalked it up to being a new client...I have borded my dog various times for ten years, he is vaccinated for bordatella, he has NEVER gotten sick. I said I was aware there exists a risk, but what I didnt realize was she was telling me...WE KNOW WE HAVE KENNEL COUGH HERE - YOUR DOG WILL MOST LIKELY GET IT - JUST WANT TO GUAGE YOUR FUTURE REACTION\r Suer enough, when I pick him up he is very sick, hacking coughing with spasms, vomitting from coughing...I confront the vet and say "you knew you had a contagious disease here - instead of closing your boarding fascility, disinfecting and airing for a few days, you continued to take more

WHY I LOVE CENTRAL ANIMAL HOSPITAL 9/22/2010

I have been a client for over 20 years,& Dr. Sills and the rest of the staff has seen me through a long illness and passing of my beloved Bichon Frise, Gigi, being compassionate and as competent as possible. They have cared for my present pet for the past 5 yrs & their boarding service is the only place I would ever leave my pet besides with family. The facility is spotlessly clean & at times may be crowded, but the staff seems to handle the patient flow pretty well. I have been to other vets before this one and believe me, I would never go anywhere else. As far as being overpriced, they are about the same as other vets in Scarsdale/upper Westchester county. When we finally had to put our dog down, Dr. Sills was kind enough to send me a condolence card. more

Outstanding veterinary care 7/6/2010

I feel compelled to write this after reading some of the negative reviews here. I have been a faithful client at Central Animal Hospital for over 10 years. After moving to Connecticut I still continue to make the 1 hour trip because of my complete confidence in the staff. They are some of the most compassionate, skilled and knowledgeable vets I know. It was Dr. Gross who helped keep my dog alive, comfortable and happy for 5 years following her cancer treatments. Dr. Sills is the only one who can handle my dog that is terribly anxious when he needs medical care, is not afraid to do so, and does it with understanding and patience. more

Beware of Cental AH 4/17/2010

I will never go back!!! Front desk very unhelpful, they were to busy talking. I waited 45 minutes for my appt. The place was dirty and I sat in waiting area to the smell of urine. I will never go back, way to overpriced. more

GREAT VET 3/13/2010

I have been bringing my dogs here for over 5 years. The girls at the front desk are very sweet and know me whenever I call or go in. I use Dr. Ben Adi, who is absolutely the best!! Is very caring with my elderly dog. I have also had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Gross and personally think she is a real sweetie. As a dog groomer myself, I know how difficult and demanding some people can be sometimes, and they twist stories around, not willing to realize that maybe it was no ones fault in particular. But some people have to blame someone. I highly recommend this vet as a pet care professional. They have also been open for over 20 years! That in and of itself says something. more

Finished with Central Animal Hospital 1/6/2010

The care at Central Animal Hospital is mediocre at best. When my pug was a puppy, she had a limp so we took her in and had her x-rayed. I was told by Dr. Sills that she might need a 3,000 surgery and that I should go to another consultation at Village Animal Hospital to make sure. At this consultation I was told that my dog was just fine. Dr. Sills' colleague even said that he was being alarmist and I shouldn't have needed this consultation. The dog will grow out of it. And she did. I continued doing my check-ups there but now they seem to have a problem with their billing. I received a bill for an extra $35 dollars this summer after my dog's annual check-up. When I called, I mentioned that I pay everything in full when I have an appointment and I had no idea where this extra money came from. The office staff member told me "Sorry, we left it off the bill." Well then, sorry I shouldn't have to pay it. I recently received a bill for $100 with a "Sorry this was left off the bill." FREE ADOPTION CHECK-UP? 8/7/2009

I called in advance to schedule the free vet check-up that I was promised when I adopted my dog from the Yonkers Animal Shelter. When I registered at the front desk - I told them I was here for my free vet check-up for my newly adopted dog. There was no misunderstanding, and I showed my adoption papers to the staff. The check-up was OK, and I thanked everyone on my way out. I have received a bill for $144.99 every month for over a year now. There are now interest and penalty charges being added. The words "free vet check-up" seem to translate differently here. I've since adopted another dog from a shelter - and unfortunately did not feel comfortable taking advantage of the "free vet check-up" offer - specifically because of this incident. more

Traumatized 7/7/2009

I was very unimpressed and quite traumatized by the treatment that both my family and my beloved cat received from this hospital. The front desk was disrespectful to me when it was an emergency situation with my sweet baby. They were told A HEAD of time that we were on our way, and that we needed immediate help, but when we got there the staff was clueless, and they mistreated my cat. They gave the wrong I.V. and it was way too big for a frail, 3 1/2 pound cat who needed to be treated gently. My cat died that day, and I believe it is because of the incompetence of Dr. Gross and the horrible staff [especially some of the vet techs] along with the clueless front desk. The place was NOT clean, and it was crazy to deal with. Stay away from this terrible, wrongful practice who have no problem with using brutality. more

Very Caring, Clean, Spacious A+ 1/30/2008

My dog was sick and my vet was "to busy" to see him. So a friend recommenced this place. I NOW HAVE A NEW VET. I got an appointment that day , the front desk is friendly caring and professional. I then meet Dr. Cheryl Gross what a breath of fresh air. She was caring and understanding. She called me for 2 days to make sure my dog was on his way to a good recovery. This place is spacious, warm and doesn't smell of a vet office at all, they have the sweet smell of scented candles. The wait time was also great the 3 times I have been there I waited no more than 10 minutes. I also had to call Dr. Gross a few times and she always returned my calls. I highly recommend this place. They are an all around caring practice. Price wise I have to say an office visit was very reasonable at 58.00. So I have to give them 5 stars for friendliness, caring, cleanliness, waiting time and price. My Boston Terrier Rockie has found a new Doctor. more

Central Animal Hospital 1/30/2008

I take both of my dogs to Central Animal Hospital. Dr. Grossman, one of the few doctors there, is super nice and a great vet. The place is very clean and a friendly atmosphere. They also board. more
