Um, NO. 2/26/2014

So I went to health services a week ago today because I'd been laid up at home with a fever and a cough. And they did a strep test, sent me home with the goodie bag of ibuprofen and cough drops. That was it. This week, I go back because I have this really terrible cough, and they decide to say, "Actually, we think you might've had H1N1?" OH REALLY. You think? Wouldn't the proper procedure have been to RUN A TEST A WEEK AGO. Nooooooooooooooo. Don't go here for anything but allergy shots and a note to get out of class. UPMC has urgent care only a ways a way - find someone with a car, or grab a cab, and take yourself there. You'll actually get CARE versus INCOMPETENCE. more

Very friendly for allergy shots 9/1/2005

I've never been to Carnegie Mellon Health services for anything besides allergy shots but their staff is super friendly and helpful. They reorder my serum for me when I get low, are very consciencious, and I never have to wait long. You have to be a CMU student or staff to go here but if you have their insurance, there is no charge. Overall, I'm happy with my service here. more

Get your antibiotics or allergy shots here... 8/31/2005

but not much else. I worry this is what happened to the CMU students who could not get through premed. Rumors of pregnancy tests for anyone who walks in, as well as STD panels and a diagnosis of mono for everything from rashes to acute stomach pain run rampant- and while I am sure these are exaggerated, only visit health services as a matter of convience, not dire need. Appointment hours are limited, as well as often quite late when you actually manage to get one. more

Convenient, not quality 8/20/2005

Carnegie Mellon's Health Services is convenient, but the quality is not good. Seek medical services elsewhere if your ailment cannot be solved with simple medication. For students, Health Services does provide discounted birth control options, including the pill for females. Before going into Health Services, make sure you look up possible diagnoses for your problems... they have been known to provide "interesting" remedies. more

Friendly staff 8/18/2005

I am a regular at Health Services. I get allergy shots every other week. The nurses that give the shots are very nice, friendly, and chatty. Some of the staff might seem out of it at times, but they mean well. Appointments are generally not on time, but you better be there on time. They tend to send everyone home with at least some form of medication, but have always successfully treated me. more

Not possibly pregnant? No chance of STDs 8/17/2005

Then this is not the place for you. I've walked in with colds before and been asked if I needed a pregnancy test or an STD check. While the staff is pretty friendly, I'm not sure about how qualified they are. After a few silly experiences, I found my own doctor in Pittsburgh, which definitely is worth the extra expense and travel. Unless you need pseudophendren, or cough drops I'd recommend going somewhere else.. more
