Carmine's is like a Soprano's episode! 3/2/2008

This restaurant offers a terrific Italian menu with varied North and South Italian dishes. I tried fresh mozzarella and basil with angel hair and pesto past! Excellente! I highly recommend stopping by this wonderful, upscale restaurant when ypu can! Farrah N. Ashline more

Exceptional Food and Service 10/17/2007

Carmine's Restaurant has been my favorite restaurant in Albany for over ten years. The food and service is always exceptional. The prices might seem a little higher than say, Mangia, but the price of the meal includes a salad and sorbet course, which is something that most restaurants in Albany do not offer, let alone give away inclusive of the meal price. Overall, I will be returning to Carmine's Restaurant for the next ten years, hopefully longer. more

Great food, Great service, Great restaurant! 10/16/2007

Carmines was a great expierence from the time i walked in the door until the time i left the restaurant. We arrived on a Friday night around 6:30 (one of the busiest times). The four of us were greeted immediately, saw to our table, and without skipping a beat our waitor was over to offer us bottled or ice water. I liked to see the way the wait staff worked together. It was a very busy night, however we didn't wait for anything, someone was always there to see if there was anything we needed. Overall our expierence couldnt have been better, and I would recommend Carmines to all my friends and family! more

I found Carmines a mistake from start to finish 9/3/2007

Here is a timeline of our dining experience: 7:00-arrived at restaurant, same time as our reservation; 7:10-finally acknowledged by a staff member and three minutes later brought to table 7:21-(by now I was noting the wait times) served a glass of warm water. 7:29-drink order taken, along with a promise of bread 7:45-drinks delivered, order taken 8:10-bread arrives 8:12 appetizers arrive 8:35 dinner arrives Of course by this time any pleasure that could be derived from a restaurant has long faded. We did not get our salad, nor did we get the "palate cleansing" sorbet. Nor did we get any service. I spoke to the restaurant manager who apologized (I could tell he was sincere) and offered to satisfy us with the promise of free alcohol. This would have been the previously ordered glass of wine, and one bottle of beer. The check finally arrived with meals listed at full price,no account for the time or unserved food. Carmines expects my money to be good, can I not expect the same of the service I have purchased? One does not eat in Carmines because of hunger but rather atmosphere. The atmospheric conditions were insufferable. I paid the bill, left the twenty percent tip. I will not quibble over a few dollars. Instead I will tell everyone of the totally unpleasant Carmines restaurant. Pros: none Cons: read review more

Excellent Food, Great Service, Reasonable Prices 5/10/2007

Carmine's is probably my favorite restaurant to go to. The food is outstanding. The service is of excellent quality. I love the little extra touches that they do as well, like wheeling out the desserts right to your table and describing each one and the little intermezzo they serve you to cleanse your palate before your meal comes. I think though that the #1 reason I love it so much is because it doesn't matter whether your dressed in jeans or a gown, you are treated with the upmost respect, Carmine's always makes you feel welcome. This restaurant is highly recommended. Pros: Plenty of Parking Cons: Gets a little crowded, not really any private romantic tables more

My favorite Albany Restaurant 7/4/2006

This is my favorite restaurant in Albany. If you have the opportunity to set up a group meal and have Carmine cook for you on the spot? Go hungry! Everything is absolutely amazing. I can highly recommend the gnocchi as an appetizer and the banana sharpa for dessert. They are out of this world Pros: Just close your eyes and point at an item - EVERYTHING is good here! Cons: The focus is definately more on food than ambiance - not that it is a BAD thing! more

One of the Best Italian Restaurants in the Area 1/26/2006

I love Carmine's even more each time I visit. In an area filled with Italian restaurants Carmine's is a great find. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I tried the veal cheeks after Carmine himself, heard me discussing the dish with my family and came over and explained the dish then offered to make a special appetizer version for me. It was awesome. Carmine even sent out after dinner drinks for my grandmother's birthday Each time I've returned I've felt the same sense of hospitality from each waiter or waitress I've had. It's always great to find a restaurant where the food and service are consistently great but even better when the price is reasonable. Pros: Great Food, Good Parking, Service more

delicious 2/10/2003

This restaurant was phenomenal. Everything I put in my mouth tasted absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the veal cheeks ! They practically melt in your mouth. The service was impeccable. I would go back here again and again. Pros: good parking, great service more

The Best Yet 1/29/2003

I have never enjoyed a dining experience out quite like my first time to Carmines ... that is until I went there a second time and enjoyed it even more. Everything is first class from the moment you walk in to the service to the food, etc. It was just plain wonderful in every possible aspect. And the entrees are very affordable when you consider the quality of food you are receiving. If you don't enjoy Carmines, you should get a life and stop complaining!!! Pros: Excellent Service, Unbelievable Food, Atmosphere more

Love the food!! 1/11/2003

Although I was initially put off by the location, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and service. Actually, the location in a strip mall offers easy and plentiful parking. Once inside, the ambience is both elegant and warm. The menu is interesting and I have yet to try anything that was not delicious. I have and will continue to highly recommend this restaurant to my friends. Pros: great service, good looking staff Cons: unusual location more

Great Food 11/3/2002

The food is very good one of the best restaurants in the area. The waiters are very friendly and helpful. They are very open to variations of the menu and even state that the menu is just suggestions. Very good food. more

amazing 7/28/2002

The service and food was phenomonal. My boyfriend and I were waited on as soon as we walked in the door. He ordered a type of beer that the restuarant didn't carry, so they sent someone to the store to get it for him. The food was great and plenty for leftovers. Well worth your time and money. Pros: great service, good parking, excellent food more

  • In Short
Like any good Italian restaurant, this one boasts a strong family feeling into which you're quickly welcomed. The Italian and continental items that make up the menu are nicely presented and served in large portions. A simple, inexpensive dish like gnocchi alla cuccina covers potato pasta twists with a creamy tomato-porcini mushroom sauce. More elaborate dishes include pork chops with vinegar peppers or chicken breast layered with prosciutto, eggplant and mozzarella cheese.
