Carmike Varsity Cinemas

Out of the theaters within relative easy driving distance for me (Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Petoskey, or the Soo), the Soo (MI) is the only one with digital picture (yay!). The ticket prices aren't bad, especially compared to a larger city, but concessions are kind of ridiculous. Definitely too ridiculous for a ""budget"" (as Carmike often claims to be) cinema. The customer service, on the other hand, has always been great in my opinion. The people are friendly and efficient and seem to enjoy working there. It's not my regular theater (when I do go I'll often forgo concessions entirely due to the prices) but they have the best movie selection around. more

drove 30 mile for the movie. waited 25 minutes for tickets because they wouldn't open a ticket booth and you had to wait at the concession area for tickets. saw 12 people leave and at least 8 leave line and just go in. money must not matter more

does any one know where to call to make a complaint? We drove 50 miles to find the theater closed until 7pm. We looked up movie times before we left. If times were changed, it should have been posted in the paper... We checked 2 days in a row. No changes in times. It's bad enough with the prices of movies, popcorn and a pop, then we show up for 4:30 and no movie. Any help would be appreciated. more

I feel that the previous ""reviews"" don't actually describe the quality of the theater itself, but more so the inability for some people not to bicker over petty things. So here's my experience... I've gone to this theater roughly a dozen times and its always been pretty good. I walk in, buy a ticket from a smiling employee who then directs me where to go, and I sit down and watch a movie. Sound quality is always great, I can honestly say that it made the experience complete when I saw ""300"". Seating is usually pretty ample, aside from huge opening nights where everyone is there. The only thing I don't like is that movies always take like 10-15 minutes to start because of advertisements, but I imagine that's pretty common. Other than that, its basically what you expect from a theater. Except some people apparently put their dirty shoes where your head goes. Well Tj, you sound like you're one of the theater reps. Nice to know your opinion and all, but collegestudent2012 seems to have a good point... and it's not like she left out details. She told us he came in twice. But no self respecting establishment would have ever permitted him to talk to a customer like that, regardless. And if you do work for them or are just friends with someone who works there, you might want to take that into consideration when you plan your next ""helpful"" marketing strategy.
