A great oasis 5/22/2004

I completely agree with the first reviewer. During the eight years I lived in Miami and during prior and subsequent visits, this has been one of my favorite spots to just relax for a couple of hours or a weekend picnic beach going. Where you actually get to experience both, the grassy and shaded areas with picnic tables as well as the ocean and the sandy beach. Unfortunately most of the coastline along Dade County was altered forever after Hurricane Andrew, nonetheless, this remains a great getaway place for locals and a worthy destination for visitors. Pros: Good facilities, Proximity to city more

Perfect 5/21/2004

While staying with a friend in Cocoanut Grove, she recommended Key Biscayne for the beach day I was so desperately craving. When we got there it was just perfect. There were no crowds, the sand was perfect, the water was perfect, and we even rented the little carriage bikes to go around the island. Had I known that this was considered one of the top rated beaches in the country or that there was so much to do, we would have explored much more. In short, we STILL talk about how great that beach was, second only to the beaches of St. Thomas. Would go back in a heartbeat. Pros: Great Sand, Beautiful Foliage, Wildlife more

No Trees 3/4/2004

Bill Baggs in my opinion has one of Florida's nicest beach. Unfortunately, Hurricane Andrew destroyed most of the lush plant life that was here before. There are many things to do at the park. One of my favorite activities is fishing and snorkeling. I once caught a 7lb Mutton Snapper while fishing atop the rocks in front of the old lighthouse. Aside from fishing and snorkeling the swimming is great and there are plenty of picnic tables all over the park. A word of advice *arrive early* people start arriving at the park around (8:00-8:30) after 9:30 expect to see the crowds of people flood in. Pros: Great swimming, clean beach, nice scenery Cons: , crowded, pic area far from bch more
