CCA is a great place for students. The Bible is the basis for the entire school's foundation. Our church's Sunday School teachers have commented on how much our children know about the Bible lessons and how it applies to our life (we attend Calvary Bible Church). There is a true partnership between the teachers and parents. The principal's door is always open to parents and students alike. When the principal came to field day, all the kindergarteners went running to hug her! The academics are tough, but with class sizes being small, my children are excelling at school and the teachers are always willing to help or give advice to me, as a parent, on how to best help my children. My children are so happy to go to school and I am thankful for the other parents who have become good friends. I truly feel like we're all on the same page and want the best for our children: to grow in the knowledge of God. Thank you, CCA! more

I graduated from Calvary Christian Academy in 2010 and now attend a Christian university. I recently had the opportunity to talk to one of my teachers from Calvary, and we soon found ourselves laughing about all of the incredible memories we have from her class. The most unique thing about CCA is the fact that students receive a Christ-centered education from teachers who truly care about them and are invested in their lives. My class at CCA became my family. We still celebrate with one another and support each other, even though we're at different colleges. I am so grateful for CCA and how it prepared me for my future. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who was looking for a school in the area. more

My son began at CCA in 4th grade, is a recent graduate and is about to graduate from college. This is causing me to reflect and remember those who have been instrumental in his upbringing and education. I am grateful to CCA's leadership and teachers who always demonstrated Christian character while providing an excellent education in every area including all of the sport programs that he enjoyed so much. CCA is an amazing place with amazing people who are serving God in this wonderful school. more

CCA is a blessing for parents who want to send their children to a school where Christ is central. The Bible is incorporated nicely into the curriculum and I am very impressed with where both of my children (elementary) are already at academically. My 2nd grader regularly reads 200+ page books which puts me to shame! You will have a very hard time finding teachers as committed to your kids and with Christ's sacrificial love as you get at Calvary. The investment is significant, but I can assure you is well worth the cost. CCA still accomplishes this while keeping tuition thousands of dollars lower than all other area private schools. more

CCA offers a christian education of the highest degree. Their scores leave the public and charter schools behind. Better yet, they do it with God's Word in the center of it all. more

Outstanding Practical Education 5/28/2010

We have hired seven CCA graduates. Some clerical and accounting, some AutoCAD designers and some as engineering major students while they were continuing their education in major universities. During the performance of their jobs every one of these CCA graduates proved to be down to earth practical and honest and their excellent math and english skills proved to be far superior to the many other young people we have hired over our 30 years of providing engineering services. One graduate hired 17 years ago was recently promoted to Vice President. As co-founder and owner of Duckworth & Associates I am highly recommending Calvary Christian Academy. Pros: Math and English Proven in Business more

Calvary Christian Academy---- priceless 5/21/2008

I attended Calvary Christian Academy 2nd-12th grade. At CCA you will find a staff that is fully devoted to ministering to the students. You will get to know the teachers on a personal level. If you are struggling in a class they will go to whatever lengths to help you. I graduated from CCA in 2005 and I still maintain relationships with many of the teachers. In my opinion they are some of the most godly people you will meet. Scriptures are incorporated into all subjects. Bible classes were excellent- challenged you in your spiritual life. Chapels were great. Pros: Small classes, oppurtunity to partcipate in sports offered, good Biblical education, great teachers more

Great School 5/21/2008

Calvary Christian Academy is a great school. I started going to CCA my freshman year, it was tough at first, there were many adjustments I had to make. Thankfully, the teachers and other staff really helped me through. I do not know how anybody can claim that the teachers do not care about the students, that is absurd. I still have many good relationships with ALL my teachers, and I know that I am not the only one. I can not tell you how many times through my career at CCA I would see former students stop by just to chat and catch up with the teachers. The teachers invest your life and they really care about what is going on in your life. The teachers are wonderful. Academically I believe CCA is strong as well. My graduating class (2005) majority of which had been at CCA since kindergarten, all did very well on the ACT test including several which scored a 30, many others had 28, and very few scored below a 20. That is pretty successful, especially for a school Calvary's size. The athletics are very competitive as well. They have nice uniforms and nice equipment. They have also been quite successful over the years. Many basketball and baseball state championships have been acquired over the past few years, including back to back state baseball championships in 04 and 05. Also, the Bible training that you get from CCA is top notch. I know that I learned so much and my Christian walk really grew during my 4 years at CCA. The dress code was great too! I realize that is just my opinion and that many people did not like it, but man was it easy to get ready in the morning. There is great variety in the dress code so to me it really did not even feel like a dress code at all. I really appreciated the uniforms we had to wear, and to be honest, I still where much of it today at work and other places. I am really surprised anybody would bash Calvary, it really was a good school with great teachers. Look at the people it has produced you will agree too! Pros: Small Classes, Great teachers, Amazing Bible teaching Cons: Not very many extra classes more

Not a Good Choice 1/11/2008

As a former student of Calvary Christian Academy, I would advise you to please, please not send your children there, especially if you're from a Christian home. The staff and majority of the students there do not act like ""Christians"" at all. The staff favors the students who go to Calvary church greatly, and are very quick to judge and isolate students. I was raised in a strong Christian family and always had great faith in God...until entering high school at Calvary. The people there did nothing but judge me for every little thing and treat me as if I was nothing. I know myself, and several other people, have turned away from Christianity as a whole for long periods of time because of the horrible examples of Christians we interacted with every day at Calvary. Although it sounds really rude, the people there are blatantly the most hypocritical, poor excuses for Christians I've ever seen in my entire life. Pros: Thorough study of the Bible Cons: Poor teaching, un-Christian-like staff, little to no extracurriculars more

Worse school in Ypsilanti, possibly worse in all of Michigan! 12/15/2007

This so called school is the worst mistake that my parents have made involving my life ever. I have to been to schools where 1 out of 10 people were drug-dealers and that beat CCA by a mile. I've been to a school where the pushed their extreme conservative agenda down our throats, so much that I actually liked George W. B., but even though they did, it still beat CCA by a mile. If your a parent out there reading this, please do NOT send your kid to this school. You may say, ""But, I want my kid to have a good Christian education."" There are many other Christian schools out there. And besides, this school doesn't build you up in Christ, because of the teacher's carnalness and jugmentalness, I found it real hard to be a Christian for the longest time. Not only that, it is not a good education. Before going to this school, i had a 3.9 GPA. Now after attending, I'm lucky if I get a 3.2. It's not because it's harder, it's just that most teacher could care less what you got. And the rules there! Immediate Dentions are: chewing gum, wearing a coat in class(even if it's extremely cold), having a cell phone out(even if it's to look at the time), 1 second late for class(even if you were frantically looking for last night's homework), having food in class, and my favourite, throwing something to someone(letting my friend borrow a pen). And the uniforms they make you wear are so degrading and uncomforable. And these are just the reasons that it's bad for your kid. It's bad for you because tution is just horrible! 400 a month! Thats 3, 600 a year! And not to mention the uniforms are really expensive. And the school is so cheap that they barely give any money to the sports programs. It makes me sad because there is so much talent, but because they are money-hungry, they can't buy good equipment. In conclusion, this school makes kids lives miserable, I know first hand. I'm begging you, never send your kids to this school. more
