Best

These people complaining about the 20% service charge obviously don't tip that much; 20% is pretty standard here in LA. The reason why they charge is probably because most Italia...

Worst

We are Italians and we, therefore, have an accent. We have been to Cafe Med in the past and this never happened, but it did the last two times, so I will never return there. The w...

Great people watching great pasta 3/14/2007

First i have to say that the best thing is the parking, free parking no hassle with that. I thought the food was delish I ordered the pappardelle al Telefono I t was very fresh tasting. I like the thickness of the noodles and the mozarella basil sauce. I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the view of all the cheesoids in hollyweird. The service was a little slow though. I reccomend the restaurant overall. more

Cute place, great location 2/26/2007

I had a lovely dinner at Cafe Med. We went on a Wednesday and there was a good turnout but it wasn't ridiculously crowded, and the decor was very cute and European. Service was prompt, and the food was tasty with big portions: the grilled chicken with roasted vegetables that was quite good, and the pastas were delicious (especially the vodka sauce). If the weather is nice, dine outside - it is prime for people-watching on the Sunset Strip. Yet the layout of the inside restaurant is somewhat disjointed, with the diners divided into two halves and the kitchen visible in the back. more

really good pizza, service depends on who you get 1/3/2007

so far the best pizza i've found in l.a. really nice thin crust, nice variety of toppings available, and they cook it right. i've been there twice and both times the food was all around really good (though the bread they give you at the beginning didn't seem all that fresh, and kind of bland) the service is spotty however. the first time we went, the hostess, though pretty enough, seemed like she wanted to be anywhere than at her job and made it apparent she could care less about us... but she was italian so it added some authenticity. our waiter was a really nice italian guy who knew the menu and was very charming and so cute when he tried to be funny. the second time we went, the hostess, though clearly not italian, was incredibly pretty (guess looks are a requirement for sunset plaza) and was very pleasant and outgoing, she greeted us with a big smile and made an apparent effort to sit us in a good spot. our waitress however seemed preoccupied, she passed by us about ten times before stopping for our drink orders and another twenty times before taking our food order. though the service can be either horrible or great depending on who you fall on, the food is good and cheap, and it's a great location. Pros: good pizza, some nice hostesses and waiters, great location Cons: some really bad hostesses and waiters more

Thin crust style pizza haven 12/11/2006

If U r looking for a thin, real, italian style pizza, cafe med it's the place to go. Nice winelist, honestly priced. Service ok, talking with real italian waiters who suggest you the right pronunciation for italian fare... Free parking, celebrity spots. Don't go if you expect top of the line hosting, but (almost) everybody gots a nice attitude. Pros: food, service more

Horrible Service!!! 8/7/2006

Despite the bad reviews about the service at Cafe Med, I tried it anyway. I went with a group of 6 girls for a birthday lunch. The service was the worst I had ever experienced! Two ladies in our group didn't even get their lunch because the waiter forgot to place the order, then when we asked for it to go.... they were given the wrong sandwich!! I don't even remember if the food was good because the service was that bad. Pros: Trendy, free parking Cons: Service!!!! more

Awful service, ok food 4/2/2006

Waitress was incredibly rude and incompetent. She didnt come over to our table for about 10 minutes after we sat down even though we tried to flag her down many times. We saw every one else at almost every other table try to do the same. After she finally took our order, she came back 10 minutes later b/c she forgot what we had ordered. Food finally came out another 15 minutes later and was ok, but not good enough to have to endure the attitude. Bread was ok too but not great. She checked on us once. We had to flag her down again to get the check, and it took her a good 10 minutes to go swipe the credit card. I really don't know how she gets through life moving at her pace. Pros: food is decent Cons: rude, incompetent, slow more

Best on the strip for the price 2/25/2006

I've been to every joint on the strip, and Cafe Med is the most consistent, and best food that won't clear your bank account. Their homemade bread is devine. Once you start eating it, you won't stop. The food is fresh, and is served promptly. Some people complain about the service, which I have never had a problem with, though I find sitting outside to be a bit better. Occasionall I have been unhappy with the hostess, but the Sunset Strip comes with a certain amount of attitude. Pros: consistent, people watching, ambience more

Disapointed 6/17/2005

I was looking forward to going to this place. However, the visit left a sour taste: food is bland and average, inconvenient parking, ambience is average, but host service is the worst. VERY DISAPOINTED! Pros: location Cons: service, parking, food more

Great People Watching 3/8/2005

This is a fun place to enjoy good food and great people watching. The tagliata steak is fabulous and they have great thin crust pizzas and the creme brulee is the BEST! more

Pretty Good 12/3/2004

Nothing really fancy or over the top. Great location on the strip. Everything we had was good including salads, pizzas and pastas. I'd go back the next time I'm looking for something casual and reasonably priced. Pros: Sunset Strip more

witout flavor 10/26/2003

I found the food lacked flavor and zest. Each dish we received lacked the simple flavor needed to make it good. Even the dessert - wasn't at the level I expect from an Italian restaurant charging those prices. Sorry. Pros: atmosphere, inside & out tables, the service Cons: The food - bland, lacking in flavor, pastry for dessert more

Great atmosphere 4/30/2003

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Cafe Med. We had excellent service, perfect atmosphere, and great food. I strongly recommend dining on the patio. Awesome place I will be sure to visit next time I am in LA. more

one of the best 12/13/2002

Great pizza, good setting, friendly service, what more could you ask for! more

Great pasta 6/2/2002

A favorite for a few years now, Cafe Med offers a great location, outside seating, and most importantly, delicious pasta entrees. There is actually free parking available in back - impossible to believe along this trendy area of Sunset Blvd. Favorite entrees include the papparadelle pasta with tomato and fresh mozzarella, and a custom order of the fusilli with pink sauce (it doesn't come that way but they have no problem making it). Dinners are accompanied by a nice basket of bread with olive oil for dipping. The European service has always been fine for me. I always look forward to returning. Pros: fresh pasta, outside seating, free parking more

Unexpected 5/15/2002

Located at a pretty swank part of Sunset, this place is actually very down to earth. Of course there's a lot of celebrity spotting, yet the food and prices are really reasonable. I have been there a few times and the food doesn't disappoint. Good wine selection as well. It's never been very hard to get a table and if you sit outside the atmosphere is very pleasant. Pros: outside seating, good price, parking more
